Computers - Just spent 2 hours trying to configure a clients computer to run with MS Powerpoint Viewer97, peice of shit app. Grrrrrr. Now the client thinks I'm a dick, the clients IT Department think I'm a dick and my Studio Manager thinks I'm a dick.

Am I a Dick?

I think I am for having faith in Bill Gates.

Thanks for the concern Grim, err, I still don't know if it works. Their tech boys were looking at it and the client is off to france this morning.
Three year old laptops are the bain of my life.

I hate....

...it when you ask people how they are/how their job is going/how their weekend was and they just say "Oh fine thanks." and don't bother to ask you about yours. Surely it's only good manners to say "Fine thanks and you/yours?" Damn it, that irritates the shit out of me. This morning I said, "Oh good, I am so happy you are fine, I am also fine, thank you for asking." FFS

I hate it when people ask me how my weekend was, when we all know that it's just small talk and NOBODY GIVES A SHIT. I'd much rather people didn't ask me how my weekend was when they really aren't interested in the answer and just want to ask me so that I ask them in return and they can wax lyrical about how interesting their life is.

:D

btw I'm not ranting at you syl, I'm just pointing out the opposing point of view.

also I wanted to use the phrase "wax lyrical"

I hate when people who I don't care about ask me how my weekend was and I have to say "Oh, fine thanks" just to be polite because stabbing them in the face and shouting "MIND YOUR OWN FUCKING BUSINESS" is apparently too rude for the office.

Thing is, I don't ask people I don't care about, how they are or how their weekend was. If I ask, it means I do care. Obviously those same people don't care about me very much.

I DO ACTUALLY GIVE A SHIT ABOUT PEOPLE. :)

Couple of miserable unsociable men, is it somehow not 'hip' to allow some simple social interaction and common courtesy to lubricate everyday life with others? :P

I had another one today, I called in sick in an email to my current assignment people. Because I'm a nice person I mentioned some work I was going to do today for person X but that I didn't have his email so could someone email me his emailaddress so I could discuss it.
So I got a reply with the requested address from persons A, B and C, none of whom said anything about me being ill or wishing me well
And I got two emails from person X with the work attached asking me to look at it, also not mentioning me being ill or wishing me well.
These are all people I work with every day and one of them is a woman I would consider a friend.
I'm not moping, I slept till 11.45 and I'm loungeing about the house, so HAHA
