" My wife and I in the process of creating a support group for couples in which the maul partner is British and the other partner is from a different culture of ethnic back ground. To this end we have made a web page. Our belief is that these couples have a lot in common. Females from ethnic minorities may live an extra alienation due to the fact that their husbands or partners are from a British or an EU background. These couples may find it hard building up friendship with other ordinary couples who would not necessarily understand or sympathise with their relatively unusual union. We can be contacted through the web page "

"My real concern is: How many people - black and white - are suffering from Injustice in this country? How many black people are being arrested just because they are black? How many black people police arrest but would not prosecute, not to allow them to defend themselves in a court of law? How many people police, in complicity of a social worker and a psychiatrist, have been ordered to be detained in a mental hospital under totally false allegations? In Every single Government Department there is injuustice; they are Authoritarian - which of course affect both black and white people. I have been suffering from all these since April 1993. Since 1995, I have been a prisoner in my own home, because of the police, unable to go out anymore. I shudeer to think what will happen to me, physically and mentally, if for the rest of my life I cannot go out at al, but I am being refused to the right to defend myself in a Court of Law. If there is anyone who is suffering from injustice from the Govenment, the Police or the Social Services, I would ask you to click on humanrightsuk and then you can become a member and put your cases on it as well. The more people we can get, the better chance we will have to resolve these roblems. Thank you. France Chorley"

Verlaine by Matthew Marcus

"He is a libertarian in a millenarian, mystical and mythical way; in keeping with his times, his religious culture and his own psychological makeup. If we read his work properly he is revealed as much more than a lunatic. To call him "unbalanced" is to use hindsight, to call him mad is to misunderstand him altogether. His style is part of the way in which he tries to goad the powerful and hypocritical into recognising their errors and reforming. Since, "at a popular level, the millennium seems to have meant a future world freed from the insecurity of the seventeenth century", his message found hearers and was intelligible in his own times of recent political revolution and serious social turmoil.
