Design
I'm not a designer. I know what i like and i have a fair idea of what looks good, but i could never create it myself. I'm colorblind, so i always paint by numbers. Luckily i work with some amazing designers and artists. Programming I've been programming for 15 years. That's quite a long time. I'm proficient in many languages, but only use a few day to day. Perl and PHP form the backend to most systems i create, hooking up to MySQL or similar databases. For frontend work, javascript is my tool of choice. Information Design I'm not just a systems programmer. I also design data flow systems for the web. My main point of focus is separating the physical, logical and presentational aspects of site systems, to allow information architecture to be free of technical restraints. To allow the data to work for the designer, not the other way round. Why I'm Here To hopefully learn some things about design, to help me from a systems perspective. To work with talented people to produce products which enhance the web - making it a better place. To offer backend design to allow the front end designers freedom in their work.
