Posted by jlittle, 9 years ago:

that's cos he's changed letters! Your meant to keep the same letters in just swap them round arn't you?
Posted by beargod, 9 years ago:

I don't sometimes, but thats cos the keys should be more spaced like a meter between each key
Posted by Victor Menendez, 9 years ago:

thats not what you said.
Posted by beargod, 9 years ago:

taht is ptrety naet!
Posted by Redmaiden, 9 years ago:

haha i read it through no problem either, but beargod can't construct sentences properly which can be confusing
Posted by eatmypiano, 9 years ago:

I don't think it's because you read the whole word. It's because the brain can understand the concept of the sentence and "predict" what the next word should be. For example, if I said "The weather today is...", although you wouldn't know what the missing word is, you wouldn't think "elephant" or "spatula". Likewise, if I said "Blue sponge table Antwerp displacement..." you wouldn't know what the next word is because it's a nonsense sentence and any word can fit. Therefore you'd have difficulty with JLs original claim if I said something like "Skgmino rprbrasye cnitovegi mtah illtnsa" as it's a nonsense sentence.

vicky and simon he said "it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are" so he did say you need those middle letters just not in the right order.
Posted by chandler, 9 years ago:

eatmypiano. i think its a combination of the two.
Posted by beargod, 9 years ago:

Chandler I know I said he implied that they were used, he did not construct his sentece to say they were definatly there
Posted by chandler, 9 years ago:

yeah he did. he said "it doesnt matter in what order the letters in a word are"

meaning the ORDER doesnt matter. which also means that they have to be the right letters, just not in the right order.

I know chay, i'm just fucking about.

EMP: i agree, i had tremendous problems with this when i learned to type because you are supposed to simply go read + type each letter individually (if that makes sense) but i would tend to read the word and type it from memory, tricky thing to get over.

I was speaking in broader terms - misspellings are bad, bad, naughty, naughty.

I'm waiting for the day when kids are brought up by cartoon characters called "Teenage Mutant Linguistics Professors" and taught the value of keeping dictionaries and thesauri close to hand in case of "linguistic emergency" (like you need to take a shit and have run out of bog paper).

I just found a perl script that does that scramble thingy.

I was testing it out and I typed in this...

This is the song that never ends. It goes on and on my friends.

Tihs is the snog that never ends. It geos on and on my fnerids.
