Title: Hybrid Theory
Artist: Linkin Park
Rating: 5/5

eek, this forum is missing one of the best albums of the year!

what can I say, it's totally fantastic. the lyrics rock, the music's great. I really don't know another band like them (believe me I've been looking :P ).

now off you all go and buy it if you haven't already.

(and Chester's kinda good looking I think ;) )

i wouldn't call it a best album of the (previous) year. not bad, but formula music. they look pretty cool on the sleve though ;)

another band like them Sal? hmmm, I'm no Pete Waterman but I think them and Papa Roach are pretty much on par with one another.

although Papa Roach are good...the music's very different I think...Papa Roach tend to have a very distinctive lead guitar riff and stuff, and there's load of other differences I reckon..:p hehe

Although I do own both Hybrid Theory and Infest they dont usually make it into my playlist and only come out during marathon ,doing something, sessions (like giant origami for instance) so I probably need to listen to them both intently for a better analysis... watch this space.

Only one word sums this up:

Tanfastic!!!

I just want to add that Papa Roach are more modern rock, with their lyrics rapped and basic set up, whereas Linkin Park are a larger band, with a mixture of singing and rap, plus they have a DJ, which is the step up to nu metal. So if you compare to anyone, it is the likes of the Bizkit... and Linkin Park are the boy band of that genre - because they are so comercial!

And me n Sul know a really good tribute group to the Bizkit :)

Ok. apparently we lack some music buffs here. Linkin Park and Papa Roach are barely in the same category. Here we go, LP has two lead singers one who yells and does back up while the other has a wonderful voice. THe lead singer of PRoach has a strong raspy voice and raps his way through their songs. They do have common likenesses. such as: They have guitarists, a drummer, and a singer/singers. PRoach has an east coast back ground whereas LP is from the west coast therefore their sounds are going to be very different and having a DJ does change their sound. Not that it matters but the backup singer for LP has the firmest ass in the whole world. (next to my boyfriend that I love.) I knew them before they were great. Sorry to go into such a spill. Music critic here Signing off.

fantastic. someone female, with opinions, talking about firm asses. that what we need more of here.

so which is your preference (musically). the roach or the park?

P roach is currently in my cd player. I dig them in different ways. I can't play favorites. I think that they both need to come out with a sophmore album to make my decision final. As everyone very well knows a sophmore album is what makes a band. I personally connect with the P roach cd so much just because of my past, but the LP album is equally awesome in all the emotion and soul poured into every song.

Papa Roach? East Coast?

When they won a Kerrang Award Coby Dick said:

"Four fat guys from California do it!"

...and I'm agreeing with you that they are very different again, coz i said that already :) coolness

I'll shut up about that now then.

Errrr, so anyone else go to see the Mad Caddies while they were about?
Posted by Jenn, 17:32, 30th January 2002:

Aren't the mad caddies a really awesome punk band???? And I guess I messed something up somewhere about where they were from because they used to play in J-ville all the time before they got huge. Whatever it's all good. Time to start a new thing-a-ma-bob.

? WTF ?
Posted by Sul, 22:44, 30th January 2002:

Yeah the Mad Caddies are a fucking great ska + dixieland jazz influenced punk band (think Less than Jake but IMHO better). They just finished their tour in the UK and I caught them at the London Astoria.

Where are you from then Jenn?

Zach, opinions are a god given right, even if they are wrong ;-)

That's what you want me to think.

I'm more of an emo fan myself, Dashboard Confessional and Thursday rock my world. ;)

emo is all alike. foolish american teens.
Posted by zach, 22:44, 7th February 2002:

Sure, some emo is all alike, but not nearly all of it. Listen to Thursday, then give a listen to a band like Further Seems Forever. Nothing alike.
