Yours, your favorite, and why?

My accent is somewhere between Brit South London and Reading... it gets further and further into London the more I drink. :-O

Favorite accent has to be Quebecoise... American-French is strange, and refreshing! (like iced mocha)

I nearly agree, I love the Toronto accent... fantastic, among other things.
Posted by November Eclectica, 19:27, 7th February 2002:

I would have to say that I love an Hungarian Accent. I just can't resist a guy that talks like that. Get me alnoe with them ... and I am putty in their hands. *wicked grin*

Oh .. I already said ... mine is Southern .. like Ya'll, Darlin, yes'm, yes mam, no mam, yes sir, no sir. *giggle*

When I say Guy .. it sounds like Sky.

As I said...BBC News reader...with randomly picked up bad pronounciations.

Dutch accent rocks :D
Posted by cal, 20:35, 7th February 2002:

I have a plain estury accept. Softened lazy-fast words.

I like neutral english accents and french
Posted by sal, 20:40, 7th February 2002:

well this can all be determined by whether you say grass or grarse :P
Posted by DeSoto, 20:43, 7th February 2002:

That's the trouble with describing your own accent... I'm not sure if I have one? Talking to an American or an English(wo)man, I'm sure they'd both say I do have one... I guess my answer would be "Eastern Canadian", but not 'Newfie'. Also, to clarify a point from a post above, what does a Toronto accent sound like? I've been there, but never noticed an accent before...

Favorite? A toss-up between Australian or Dutch... French doesn't do much for me, I hear it all the time...

The challenge is on

Make a recording of your voice and post the url here.

If you don't have any webspace of your own, record it and mail it to me.

Bonus points for being from anywhere other than south UK.

Get to it!

Sorry, I'm at work and my crappy computer doesn't have a sound card.

But my accent is Australian, so think Russell Crowe, Nicole Kidman, etc etc.
(But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't think Crocodile Dundee, or the Croc-Hunter!! They're embarrassments to our country.)

oh, and I'm quite fond of the South-African accent.
Posted by sal, 22:34, 7th February 2002:

STEVE IRWIN!!
Posted by la, 22:39, 7th February 2002:

Noooooooo!!

One day I'm going to track him down, and just crack him over the head for being such a moron.

I'll be the croc-hunter-hunter.

*teehee*

NO NO NO Steve Irwin rocks!!!!!!
Posted by sal, 23:03, 7th February 2002:

lol
but that is like one of the funniest programs on tv! :D
Posted by la, 23:17, 7th February 2002:

well..... I have to admit that one episode I saw (where he was trying to sneak up on some buffalo and he decided to do it by rolling along on the ground... the buffalo just ran away from him) was pretty funny.

But he still deserves to be slapped.
Posted by ell, 00:04, 8th February 2002:

Steve Irwin kicks arse! All tremble in feer at my l33t Croc-Hunter talking keychain! (as soon as flatmate gets back with the digital camera) Coolest thing I found on my last trip to the US. :D

*sets about recording voice*
Posted by sal, 00:27, 8th February 2002:

SI totally rocks in every way.
"this 'ere is the most daaaaaangerous snake in the world, and 'e's pissed!...let's poke 'im in the eye with a stick!"

nb Ell's post above. "found" should be replaced with "nicked".
Posted by ell, 01:44, 8th February 2002:

You're just jealous :P

la, Steve Irwins accent rules. Post a wav, so we can hear what Australians are SUPPOSED to sound like!

Also, while I've stolen my fltamates camera, be in awe of my wicked optics!
Posted by la, 02:23, 8th February 2002:

yah, will do (when I'm not stuck at work with a shite computer).

stay tuned!
Posted by ell, 04:02, 8th February 2002:

*bored sigh* at least someone else is here at an insane hour.. Cal, how's about a "Who's browsing IAC?" widget on the left? :)

Guess I'll amuse myself reading more BOFH...
Posted by Suzie, 04:11, 8th February 2002:

ell, you need to sleep boyo!
Posted by cal, 08:31, 8th February 2002:

ell - i can't believe you have optics in your room. classic student :D
Posted by Sul, 10:11, 8th February 2002:

I have optics in my kitchen, they're the only thing that used in my kitchen actually.
Posted by November Eclectica, 12:36, 8th February 2002:

Ok ... Call me dumb ..... but if I have a sound card and speakers .. then how do I record my voice? I haven't ever used that feature.

Ell .... love the set up. I have my own bar in my house. Will have to send Cal a picture so he can post. :P
Posted by November Eclectica, 12:46, 8th February 2002:

Loved Chris and Phil's voice. Sal's yours was hard to make out. Cal ... did you do one?
Posted by sal, 13:40, 8th February 2002:

I'll record a better one later, maybe I'll post me and my friend Sophie singing "come on then if you think you're hard enough" as well ;)
Posted by ell, 15:50, 8th February 2002:

OR, I could just upload the thousand times you and Soph have yelled that down the phone at me. :P
Posted by DeSoto, 16:12, 8th February 2002:

OMG! I am so jelious of ell's keychain...

Might post a .wav file soon... I could lay on the Maritime Burr... But I'll probably just speak normally... :P
Posted by sal, 17:54, 8th February 2002:

Ell, it was all her doing :p
Posted by cal, 18:04, 8th February 2002:

chris - sounds just like you. see you in a couple of hours

november - you need to plug a mircophone (crappy one that came with your soundcard?) into the microphone socket on your soundcard. then use sound recorder (start menu -> programs -> assesories -> entertainment -> sound recorder) to record a sample.

i'm going to make a recording tonight i think
Posted by ell, 19:04, 8th February 2002:

Ditto, but probably at some insane hour. I'm not workin tonight, but there's a staff party at the bar, so I apologise in advance.

After we've got everyone with a voice sample, next comes the netVoice project - we all 'sing' a line from a song, and stitch them together with music (ala Perfect Day '97). Anyone know if this has been attempted before?
Posted by sal, 19:25, 8th February 2002:

...and how many of us can actually sing? :P
Posted by chris, 19:58, 8th February 2002:

i can sing, just badly :D

Yep, that's my actual voice... :D
Posted by Sul, 19:58, 8th February 2002:

I cant, but I always have a fucking good crack at it!
Posted by sal, 21:04, 8th February 2002:

I've an idea, since I can't sing and I need to get out of this :D
tell me what song it is, and I'll play the backing crap to it, then you can shove it underneath the singing ;)
Posted by ell, 21:55, 8th February 2002:

I'm envisioning "I say a little prayer for you", but that's probably coz I just heard it down the bar.
Posted by chris, 01:45, 9th February 2002:

If you want blood (you got it) by AC/DC...
Posted by sal, 13:09, 9th February 2002:

I reckon it should be a blur song :p
Posted by chris, 15:30, 9th February 2002:

girls n boys!! but you have to get it in the right order too!!!!
Posted by sal, 22:03, 9th February 2002:

Parklife, that means we don't have to sing ;)
Posted by Sul, 22:29, 9th February 2002:

Posted by chris, 22:56, 9th February 2002:

Posted by ell, 23:17, 9th February 2002:

Posted by chris, 23:22, 9th February 2002:

Posted by chris, 23:40, 9th February 2002:

Posted by Sul, 23:54, 9th February 2002:

Posted by chris, 23:00, 11th February 2002:
