Some questions to see if you're as clever as you think you are. The answers can be found on the comments page [via my cousin]

1: You are participating in a race. You overtake the car in second place. What position do you finish?

2: You are participating in a race. If you overtake the last car then what position do you finish in?

3: This riddle must be done IN YOUR HEAD ONLY and NOT using paper and a pen. Try it.
Take 1000 and add 40 to it.
Now add another 1000.
Now add 30.
Another 1000.
Now add 20.
Now add another 1000.
Now add 10.
What is the total?

And the answers to those questions:

1: If you answer that you arrived first, then you are absolutely wrong! If you overtake the second and take his place you arrive second.

2: If you answer that you arrived second last then you are wrong again. Tell me, how can you overtake the LAST car unless you are first and are lapping?

3: Did you get 5000? The correct answer is actually 4100. If you don't believe it, check with a calculator. The decimal sequence confuses our brains, that always jump to the highest decimals (100s instead of 10s).

aah, got #1 and #3, shouldn't have been tripped up by #2... knew it wouldn't be "second to last" tho..

I try not to make bets when I am drinking .... cause I always end up losing and having to kiss someone .. who I normally wouldn't .. but a bet is a bet.

got the first and third right...and ended up giving an educated guess on the second and got it right also...

(you see...what if you're in second and you overlap the last car? or third? there's really many possible answers for this one, so i just gave the most probable one and got it right)...

Nope, started work at 8 today. You lot should count your lucky stars, I start work at 7 on saturday! 7 in the morning on a saturday! same on sunday too!

I can beat all of you at that. I am up at 5:00 AM and at work at 6:00 AM and that is Monday thru Friday. Saturdays and Sunday I am up at 6:30 AM, I leave my house and go walk 5 miles around Burke Lake. I'm an early bird ... and I can still stay up all night. I have a training class this morning from 9:30-10:30 so I will be back online after that.

I get up at 6.30 if I'm workin mornings, 10.30 if afternoons.. start at 8 or 1 depending.. mind you, when it gets around to plant season in a couple months, I'll be starting at 5.30 every morning shift..
