Oh I am just SO proud of our new Aussie hero - Steven Bradbury!

If you missed this guy *winning* his gold medal, here's a rundown of the event:
Basically the other 4 competitors all tripped over each other, so good ol' Stevie boy (who was in last place) simply slid past them and over the finish line with his arms raised and a combination of pride and confusion on his face....

Well all I have to say is "Yeah! Good on ya Stevie! Your nation's proud of ya!"

*sniff*
all this patriotism brings a tear to my eye!

I believe he claimed his tactic was "wait until they all fall over, then win"

do you have snow?
Posted by la, 21:39, 19th February 2002:

OF COURSE WE HAVE SNOW!!

....and the fact that the majority of it is man-made is beside the point. =P

the important thing is that there is enough snow for me to go snowboarding in.
and if there isn't, well, there's always new zealand. =)
(that country's gotta be good for something!)

Posted by la, 21:45, 20th February 2002:

YES Australia has natural snow thankyouverymuch!!

We even have a mountain range here, believe it or not, and that gets covered in snow in winter.

...it's just that our season lasts from late june to early september...
well, actually, july/sep is the only half decent time...
and it's totally inconsistent...
and a 1m base would be an achievement and a half...
and the snow is never dry and lovely powder like big white...

what can i say, i've been spoilt.
