Has anyone else seen the line up for the Reading festival?

NoFX, The Offspring and Less than Jake? All in one weekend?! If I miss it I'm gonna top myself... but I have a problem, I can't find anyone to go with :'(

What am I going to do?
Posted by Gary, 20:18, 13th May 2002:

I'd top myself if I had to even listen to any of that shite.

we shall discuss on pay day next friday Mr Sul....

reitsma: Unotable? are you kidding? Although I love the Strokes, Janes Addiction, the Hives and the White stripes etc. But NoFX have been around for 15 years now, if it wasnt for NoFX, the Offspring and Green Day (I know they're not playing but someone would have to pass me a box of tissues if I they were), we wouldnt have the punk music we know and love as So-Cal punk today. I can not see how ANYONE can class NoFX as unotable as Fat Wreck Chords has held some of the best modern punk bands we've ever heard of, as well as some blasts from the past such as the Dickies. Not to mention the fact that Fat Mike (lead singer of NoFX and founder of Fat Wreck Chords) plays bass for Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, the best punk-kareoke band IMHO, with 2 members of another classic so-cal punk band known only as Lagwagon, also on Fat!

How can NoFX be unotable? As I say, I love the new stuff but come on, lets appreciate what's still out there and where it came from.

tee hee!
sul: heh - i appreciate the history lesson, but punk ain't my scene. i was just really pointing out the differences between us, by who we pick out first in the lineup as drawcards.
i would be interested to see how the streets perform live - they've (he has) only been noticed in australia over the last few weeks. not sure that i like him, but he's definitely groing on me.

Posted by cal, 09:17, 28th May 2002:

if i were that rich, i'd be going myself!
Posted by mattjacob, 04:43, 29th May 2002:

What the heck does "unotable" mean? It's not even a word.
Posted by cal, 12:11, 29th May 2002:

it means "not notable"
Posted by Sul, 14:52, 29th May 2002:

Cal: Does that mean that everyone who is going is rich.
Posted by cal, 09:10, 30th May 2002:

i guess it must!

but no. it's just that i have no money to spend on going out at the moment
Posted by ell, 11:27, 30th May 2002:

He's saving his cash so he can buy the final part for Calbots' death ray.

:)
:D
hmm
Wooo!
*BZZZZZZT as Cal's enemies are incinerated*

He's going to use it on Gary first, for slating the Reading lineup.

have you been reading my secret plan again ell?
Posted by guy_parsons, 20:54, 2nd June 2002:

The Reading Festival... supreme. They've sold out from Ticketmaster and Mean Fiddler which means desperately scouring the alternative sources such as The Astoria, Camden Ticketshop, or my solution, HMV. Anyway, the lineup is amazing. With The Strokes, The White Stripes, The Hives, The Vines, The Libertines, The Yeah Yeah Yeah's, The Von Bondies and Hoggboy all on the bill, I'm sold. And I'm surprised the NME haven't exploded in orgasmic glee at the prospect. Then I was looking back at the bands to mention a few more, and, well, there's too many to mention. Sunday looks like the least appealing, save for the Evening Session stage, but I can masquerade as a mosher and go and get brutally injured to the soothing sounds of Slipknot.

I just hope no-one steals my tent.
Posted by Gary, 18:39, 5th June 2002:

Ell: The Reading line up is a collection of artists/groups from the most awful genre of music known to man! How people can even listen to it - let alone make a pilgrimage to spend an entire day watching it - is beyond me! Why would anyone pay to see and listen to that?!?!

However, I'm not just a lover of all things trance/dance (or 'techno' as Cal calls it, which is something totally different, by the way). I'm quite flexible with regards to my tastes in music – I love everything from Mariah Carey (don’t say a word Cal :P) to Sarah McLachlan to Ferry Corsten, DJ Tiësto and many more besides!

Gary's Tune Of The Year (So Far): Paul Oakenfold – Southern Sun (DJ Tiësto Mix).
Posted by chris, 12:10, 6th June 2002:

*its over, come on, lets go - nobody listens to technoooooooo*
Posted by Leo, 18:32, 6th June 2002:

but everyone likes S club 7
Posted by cal, 09:43, 7th June 2002:

S Club 7 rock. Did anyone see Graham Norton last night?
Posted by Gary, 15:37, 7th June 2002:

The only good thing about S Club 7 is Rachel - enough said.
Posted by cal, 15:38, 7th June 2002:

erm, hannah, i think you'll find
Posted by Sul, 15:49, 7th June 2002:

I'll agree with you on that cal
Posted by cal, 15:52, 7th June 2002:

yay! not many people seem to appriciate how hot hannah s-club is.

mmmmmm
Posted by Gary, 20:34, 7th June 2002:

Pfft! Rachel is far, far better than Hannah - are you both blind?!?!
Posted by chris, 00:47, 9th June 2002:

Hannah is Hot, Bradley is god, he is one bad ass mother. He is sooo street, if he were anymore fly, he'd have wings.
Posted by Leo, 14:43, 9th June 2002:

I'll have to go for hannah too, although rachel is pretty hot...
Posted by Gary, 17:02, 9th June 2002:

Rachel I tell you, RACHEL!!
Posted by guy_parsons, 18:48, 9th June 2002:

The answer to this dilemma is clear: Hannah... *and* Rachel. Mmmmmm!
Posted by Gary, 00:30, 10th June 2002:

Good call, Guy. :)

(I still prefer Rachel though!)
Posted by cal, 09:36, 10th June 2002:

hmm. if you only got to shoose one, it'd be hannah. none of this rachel crap!
Posted by Gary, 16:46, 10th June 2002:

I'd still choose Rachel. :P
Posted by guy_parsons, 19:10, 11th June 2002:

I think we have more chance with the diminutive Hannah. While Rachel is seeing that Holby City bloke, Hannah is stuck with the grotesquely-balloning Paul "who-ate-all-the-pies" Cattermole, who's about to take the plunge all the way from B-List celebrity fame to the "where are they now" files.
Posted by Gary, 23:18, 11th June 2002:

RACHEL!!
Posted by cal, 08:33, 12th June 2002:

rumor has it that there's nothing going on between hannah and paul - just gossip top get them in the papers (yay!)
Posted by November Eclectica, 18:11, 12th June 2002:

I would have to say why not have both girls and then just swap them out from time to time, then you get the best of both.

*wicked grin*

On a radio station here is the USA, they had a contest going to win tickets and full airfare to the Reading concert.

I kept trying to call but never got through. :(
Posted by Gary, 00:45, 13th June 2002:

Considering the awful line-up, it's just as well you never got through then, eh?
Posted by cal, 08:12, 13th June 2002:

gary, with that attitude, you'll never learn to appriciate real music. it's so very sad
Posted by November Eclectica, 12:48, 13th June 2002:

I like most of the people that are playing, so the line up is fine to me.
Posted by Leo, 14:30, 13th June 2002:

me, me, me, thats all it ever is with you
Posted by cal, 15:26, 13th June 2002:

she's female, it's expected
Posted by luke, 20:09, 14th June 2002:

I have my ticket sitting on the shelf by me :)

Can't wait!!!!!
Posted by Gary, 22:22, 14th June 2002:

Cal, I don't have an "attitude" - I was simply expressing an opinion, which I don't believe is a sad one (other will disagree of course). I've said it before – I'm quite versatile in what I listen to – however, I don't believe that line-up constitutes "real music". Just my opinion! :)
Posted by cal, 10:18, 17th June 2002:

define "real music" gary

music made by plugging numbers into computers? puuuhleeease
Posted by November Eclectica, 13:09, 18th June 2002:

Leo ... I'm a Bitch .. therefore it is always me.

Your lucky I don't turn you into a frog.

*wicked grin*
Posted by cal, 13:52, 18th June 2002:

you're confusing "bitch" with "witch" again nov ;)
Posted by November Eclectica, 18:14, 18th June 2002:

How about I am a bitch of a witch .... is that better. :P
