The kaycee nicole story, in full. for people like me, who missed out.

k10k are selling cool shirts

It's official : Sashinka will win the guardian competition. Not that i'm stirring trouble or anything.

Spoken ASCII is useful for programmers. Assuming you have anyone to talk to. (reinforcing bad sterotypes is fun, kids)

Why will Sashninke win?
Posted by cal, 17:46, 12th August 2002:

because some other webloggers don't like her

and her blog is middle-of-the-road-hedgemony-status-quo type stuff that represents the weblog nation without saying anything too loudly. just the kind of thing the guardian will (have to) choose

I think it's quite likely that sashinka will win the Guardian prize - and good luck to her. In my personal opinion, the one thing her site really lacks is legible links - the white on green is completely incomprehensible to me and makes it very difficult for me to read her site for any period of time.

The only other comment I'd make about her site is that it's a bit non-threatening to print people - I don't know really if I'm talking out of my arse here or not, but sometimes - although the content is of extraordinarily high quality - I'm not sure I buy the voice she uses. It could be that she's been writing too long professionally, but her voice sounds rather columnar and less like the informal style of conversational posting that other webloggers have gradually relaxed into...

All I can say is that I'm glad that I'm not involved in the whole competition, frankly - both because I'm not sure I'd like this level of scrutiny and because I'd be uncomfortable competing with some of the great weblogs and webloggers that I read every day...

and after she links to you two too! (Cal and Tom) Bad boys! You should feel bad about yourselves! tsk! ;)

(my 4 exlamation marks are there to enforce my disgust. They are not there just to remind people that my punctuation is shit!)

sul: urm, where does she link to me?
Posted by Sul, 09:52, 13th August 2002:

in one of her 'via's. Cant be arsed to go look now, I'm too busy ignoring a leak coming through my ceiling and noone in in the flats above me grrrrrr!
Posted by cal, 09:54, 13th August 2002:

fuckpants

anyway, a 'via' is nothing. permalinks are where it's at.

permalinks rock! Someone should write a song about permalinks!

I know where its at
Permalinks are where its at
I know where its at
Permalinks are where its at

If you want to get to my in my good books
You better permalink me or I'll give you dirty looks
And if you want to just link me with a via
Then I'll cuss you down, and your site will expire

I know where its at
Permalinks are where its at
I know where its at
Permalinks are where its at

And if you think that I am talking shitty
Then you better re-read this little ditty
Coz my site is hard as nails but you dont know it
Coz youre full of crap, so why dont you go blow it!

I know where its at
Permalinks are where its at.... etc

Or perhaps not
