If you do want to do this, I am more than happy to sort out the music but I do need to know a date ASAP.
A location would be handy, too.
And do we want Timmy Mallet, because if we do I'll find out how much he will cost.
Two hours of Timmy will be plenty, right?
Posted by
plindoe, 11:23, 28th August 2002:
best make it 2 and 1/2 hours, give him time for an encore!
i will sort the beer out, you can never have too much of the stuff!
oh yeah, a location would be good, and cheap(free) acommodation, for me and ChrisMk11, and whoever else needs it, but us 2 first as ive just dibdeds it!

are we actually going to have a christmas party? if we did, i imagine it would just involve us meeting in london and going to a pub - no one can get out to the villages reallt matt...
Personally i think 10 mins of timmy would be more than adequate.
Posted by
Grim..., 11:39, 28th August 2002:
I fully inteded it to be in London, but Timmy can't come to a pub =]
Hiring out a hall or confrence room in London is quite cheap.

i'll come if it involves no money on my part. i have no money.. nooo money. PARTY! nooo money...

Thoughts, Cal?

i don't have any money either. but it would be cool to see everyone.

Well, Timmy was (I think) Sul's idea...
Posted by
Sul, 15:32, 28th August 2002:
I did suggest Timmy, yes. Did I do bad?
London would be good for me... and I'm definatley making everyone t-shirts. As for where in London... I'm useless at organisation.
Posted by
ell, 15:35, 28th August 2002:
How about a party at your flat then Sul? ;)

I'll have a little baby boy by then, but I'll see if the misses will let me out for a few hours to play :-)

who's up for organising this monstrosity?
Well since I live in the Virginia, I will not be able to go. But you all will be in my thoughts.
Sul ... you better send me one of those t'shirts:P

I dont think that's going to happen Ell. For one I live in a villiage in Kent. For another thing my flat is the size of a prison cell. I'd do it if I had a bigger one. Sorry.
Nov: np
Everyone else: Someone use some of their initiative and organise... pleeeeeeeaaaase!

Why doesnt everyone tell everyone where they are. I live in the midlands (in Eydon, a village in Northamptonshire) nice and central. village hall can be booked, room at mine for at least 4 people (if they don't mind sleeping on the floor) plenty of room in garden for tents. But MILEs from Anywhere. which is a problem.

chandler, 18:55, 28th August 2002:
Also have a Pyrotechnics mate, who would put on a nice show ;).
Posted by
chandler, 18:57, 28th August 2002:
Timmy Mallet could stay too. and that would be a great claim to fame. I would be able to say to people "Timmy Mallet was beaten to death with real mallets in my house last Christmas"
Posted by
jeff, 19:11, 28th August 2002:
pubs... london.. no timmy... people who live 'local' can take the not so 'locals' back to theirs after... i'd offer but my parents are WIERD about people staying over.
or we could have it at my NEW HOUSE in leicester.. i reckon we could sleep about 12 people in our living room because ITS SO BIG.. :)
Posted by
chandler, 20:28, 28th August 2002:
I live not far from leicester, that sounds cool. but why no Timmy?
Posted by
ell, 20:44, 28th August 2002:
I like the part about beating Timmy to death with hammers. Now
that would be a claim to fame.
Seems lots of people here actually live in the midlands! I'm in Birmingham.

Sul, 20:46, 28th August 2002:
I'm willing to locate myself anywhere for this party. That is all.
Posted by
chandler, 21:02, 28th August 2002:
And Cal and Warren live Bedford way. So looks like a Midlands Party.
But maybe not London. I hate it when people assume that things should happen in London cos "it is central". Not that I am suggesting anyone here thinks like that.
You dont get much more central than the Midlands
:)
I bet Timmy Mallet would be a laugh. If it was a small group we could just have a laugh with/at Mr Mallet. it would be great. Failing that I bet I could book the Chucklebrothers. They would do it for a tenner (err, so I've heard)
Posted by
ell, 21:06, 28th August 2002:
That's probably not all they'd do for a tenner, scary mullet-ed pedophiles.

Sul, 21:13, 28th August 2002:
the chuckle bros rock!
Posted by
chandler, 21:15, 28th August 2002:
I've met them, did you know they are Father and Son, or is it brother and sister. Or was it that their parents were. Hmmm
They are nice enough, but just the same in "real life" as they are on screen. Lots of "to me..to you"ing going on

ell, 21:39, 28th August 2002:
Chandler's right, I strongly suspect they're hugely inbred, and have many genes in common with crabs.
Posted by
chandler, 22:09, 28th August 2002:
They certainly are fond of flour based foodstuffs, commonly used as the outside portion of a sandwich. And yes, share many genes with crabs, a bit like "Dr" Fox

jeff, 10:50, 29th August 2002:
hey, if you really wanted to be central for everyone here it'd have to be like, in the middle of the atlantic.. or southern europe or something... ooh lets hire a cruise ship!
timmy mallet can come if the chuckle brothers come and they have a 'celebrity' death match... then we'll be happy.
and uh, i'm un-offering my house because quite frankly having a bunch of strangers descending upon it scares the life out of me. lets hire a village hall and have a barn dance!

Grim..., 13:35, 29th August 2002:
We found that Birmingham is the most central place in England...
I think you all are going to end up disagreeing about almost everything when it comes to putting together this party.
You need a person to just decide and tell everyone else. Then have then bring something to help with the party. It doesn't have to be big or expensive. To save on food, have them bring a dish.
I used to set up all our comapany parties and functions. One thing to keep in mind, you can't make everyone happy.
Good Luck. I'll be in Flordia on the beach at Christmas.

"We found that Birmingham is the most central place in England..."
Mwahahahaha! >=D
Nov: We haven't disagreed about ANYTHING yet.
And I'd rather be on the beach in Floria, than at any party here, methinks. :O

midlads is good for me a chrismk11, as i said earlier i will bring beer, and lots of it!
what about entertainment, timmy is sounding a no-no, the chuckle brothers although they do indeed ROCK, i dont think would be a good idea, but does anyone know any porn stars, they would be good for an invite, certainly liven things up from the start!
i also am taking for granted that this will be happening in december, right?
Cheeky swedish netball player/lawyers?
If it was gonna be central for everyone, we could hold it at the centre of the Earth.

K - So, Birmingham on the 7th of December, I reckon.

That's assuming we have one of the small upstairs conference rooms (they have really comfy sofas). The main hall costs in the region of £100k.
