- Yeah, lets go twat him, That will teach him to push up oil prices.
- Yes, we owe it to the world to remove such an evil dictator.
- Don't know, I am clueless in world affairs.
- No, I am morally against such a crusade.
- No, I am a left wing socialist/pacifist/tyrant apologist.

There won't be any more love if he decides to use those WMDs against us or another country (though we don't know his full arsenal yet)!
I think the last time we had a discussion of war on here it got very ugly.
It is not a good topic to discuss with people you don't know well.
I know how I feel on it, but I don't need someone making fun of me for the way I feel.
I worked at the Pentagon and had I'd been there that day, well then, you wouldn't be knowing me. Cause my office was were that plane hit, and I lost friends and co-workers.
That should give you some insight on how I feel about it.

You have my sympethies, Nov, both for your country and the friends you lost, but this isn't about Nine Eleven... I feel that rather than bombing the crap out of a bunch on innocents in Iraq for something we
think could be going on, we should send a load of spies in instead.
And why the big fuss if he has nukes? America has 10,000 of them - why should we trust Bush more than Hussain? We don't know either of them from Adam...
Plus I had an uncle who died out in the last Gulf war, he was a doctor tending to some wounded Iraqies after a british squad took over a Iraq base, just before it was 'friendly' bombed.
So, we don't need another Gulf war - lots of people will die.
Just my views.

Ok… I make no apologies to anyone for the following…
War is bad. But Saddam is bad beyond words. There may be evidence linking him to Al-Qaeda and Bin Laden. Saddam hates America. He hates Britain for siding with America
I feel that rather than bombing the crap out of a bunch on innocents in Iraq for something we think could be going on, we should send a load of spies in instead.
There wouldn't be all this build up if the spies weren't already there, feeding this information back! I don't care what people think about Bush - leaders of great nations don't go to war for the hell of it - there HAS to be a reason. No President would send his countrymen to die for no reason at all. I am waiting for this UK Government dossier of evidence with much anticipation.
And why the big fuss if he has nukes?
Fucking hell, are you daft or something? Saddam, should he acquire nukes, would be very dangerous indeed because he WOULD use them! If terrorists can fly aircraft into buildings then he can and WILL use nukes.
America has 10,000 of them - why should we trust Bush more than Hussain?
The argument about Bush and Blair being more dangerous isn't worth arguing about - it's a silly argument reminiscent of someone who reads the Daily Mirror (stupid British newspaper with anti-Bush, anti-American rhetoric that's not worth the paper it's printed on).
So there you have it. That is my view on this whole thing. I make no apologies to anyone I may offend. I love America. We owe them so much. I wanted to kill the bastards responsible for 9/11 the moment I saw it on my television. We can't let terrorists win. If killing them and their leaders along with all other terrorist harbouring nations (read: Iraq) is the only way to protect ourselves then so be it. I have finished now.

OK Gary: "War is bad. But Saddam is bad beyond words."
yes and WAR is bad beyond words.
"Saddam hates America. He hates Britain for siding with America"
I hate America (well the administration) and I hate Britain for siding with America. Doesn't mean I deserve to die does it?
"No President would send his countrymen to die for no reason at all"
No. He does have a reason. Nothing like a good war to improve you rating in the polls. As proved by the "War on Terror(TM)". Plus America has a vested interest in the Middle East. Oil Money anyone? Plus what a good way to make sure that noone remembers the Enron scandal come the midterm elections. Yes I am a cynic.
"If terrorists can fly aircraft into buildings then he can and WILL use nukes."
Um yeesss. What sort of an argument is that? If London buses are red then Travis will get the next number one. Which is just as logical.
"The argument about Bush and Blair being more dangerous isn't worth arguing about - it's a silly argument reminiscent of someone who reads the Daily Mirror"
And why not. they are just as dangerous. Nukes are nukes no matter who owns them. Besides the US had the opertunity to get rid of all the weapons, when russia offered this the US said no, they had to keep them.
And no I dont read the daily mirror.
Just a couple of points of my own:
Who gave Saddam most of his weapons. um, the same people who gave Bin Laden his weapons. That would be the US. FACT. US gives them weapons when it suits them. then starts crying when they turn on them. Duh!
And Finally:
When you are young you hope you never end up like your parents. Then one day you wake up and find yourself moving troops into the Middle East.

Oh and if you want a good example of Tabloid style content, just look at poll. talk about leading towards a prefered conclusion:
"No, I am a left wing socialist/pacifist/tyrant apologist."
I may be a pacifist and a left wing socialist but that doesnt make me a "tyrant apolygist"
This sort of language use is typical of weak argument. And the sort of stubborn attitude that feels the need to force people to a conclusion because they dont believe that people can make up their own minds.
And I'm sure the poll was meant to be humourous.
Oh well. thats me done.

No. It just means you have a different opinion to me, silly. Saddam is an evil man, he needs removing from power.
No. He does have a reason. Nothing like a good war to improve you rating in the polls...
Bullshit.
Um yeesss. What sort of an argument is that? If London buses are red then Travis will get the next number one. Which is just as logical.

I disagree. Nukes are dangerous in the wrong hands. Saddam with a nuke is a dangerous thing.

i give everyone in the world permission to mourn the lives of those lost in the WTC accident. HOWEVER, is anyone actually mourning? most of the people that talk about 9/11 talk about WAR and KILLING PEOPLE that they DON'T EVEN KNOW. if you want to do something about this war, make peace.
and please, "suchandsuch is PURE EVIL" is no excuse to kill someone. i have never met anyone that is pure evil, and i don't think i ever will. i have seen many fictional movies and television shows with characters resembling evil, but in reality, humans do things for reasons...

I can't describe how offensive I find that.
Which is strange because with an A-level in English you think I would have a wide enough vocabulary. Oh and I don't think they give English A-levels to Daily Mirror Readers.
At least I hope not. A little knowledge in the hands of the terminally stupid is a very dangerous thing indeed.
"No. He does have a reason. Nothing like a good war to improve you rating in the polls..."
"Bullshit."
FACT before a certain AMERICAN event that will remain nameless, Bush was the stupidest, most hopeless president in American History. Not many thought he would get a 2nd term in office. Since said event his ratings shot up (only to fall again with the Enron scandal). Hey, war boosted them once, why not try the same trick again. and yes there are other factors. such as OIL.
"Nukes are dangerous in the wrong hands."
So presumabley during the "tests" at hirochima and other places, we were the "wrong hands". Um but now we are the right hands? There ARE NO RIGHT HANDS.
NUKEs are dangerous in EVERYONES hands. escpecially the hands of a incompetent fool. Whichever side this fool is on.
If you want to know just how incompetent the US is then just read that article that someone posted here (but I cant find it now) about the failed war games.

2. zxenor is right, we're NEVER going to hear the end of the WTC attack.. media frenzy barely does justice to how overinflated this tradgedy has become.
3. "

Ugh, I'm barely even gonna touch this one.. if anyone gets upset and offended at anyone talking about the big issues, then go do some colouring in or something.
4. While war and fighting go on, cease, and start up again, let's all remember that

3. Ugh? Ugh? what is that? have you reverted back to your primitive state. Oh yes sorry forgot. a lot of people have. after all to 'war' is human (yes I know that isnt the phrase!)
I didnt say that these issues shouldnt be discussed. but I still maintain that it isnt good for the group dynamic. Are you saying it IS good for the group dynamic to fly at each other claws out? cos this isnt the same thing as saying we shouldnt discuss it.
I dont get 'upset' or 'offended' by people talking about the 'big issues' yeah I'm sure everyone feels "real important" talking about "grown ups" stuff. Just like anything we say has any bearing on actual events.
Oh and I do colour in, for a living, and get paid quite well for it. (I work in the 2DTV office)
And as well as the colouring in I get to do a lot of cutting and sticking too.
4. Indeed. War is very good for business. you can do what Britain has done for year, sell weapons to both sides.
My next door neighbour was an arms seller. he used to "sell the nasty bits that go on the ends of warheads". when he told a woman that she said "well someones got to do it" which just about says it all really.

I didnt ask you to "buy" it. I just thank God that you are not in charge of anything, nor are you ever likely to be.

I think we were digging it up purely to show what a bunch of hypocritical cretins a lot of the western world leader are. (not just america).
NOTHING I have said DEFENDS Iraq or Saddam Hussein.
And if that IS your arguement then "What ever The Middle East did in the past shouldn't be dragged up now purely to justify a Third World War."
"the war WILL happen, whether we like it or not"
Dont be too sure. Bush has put the decision in the hands of the UN, and I think that the people there are several orders of magnitude cleverer and more level headed that Dubbya. Thank God for that.
" which is the point I've been trying to make (with no success, so it seems)."
Doesnt say much for your communications skills then. I agree he shouldnt get hold of nukes. but I dont believe that "War" is the only solution.

"I refuse to post anymore on this issue."
Refuse? like we were forcing you to post to begin with? hmmm dont think so. Well good then, I wont have to read anymore of this warmongering "drivel".
"if anyone thinks I'm American, I'm not. I'm British"
As if anyone cares. I think the Daily Mirror commentary told us that you arent American. Duh. So you are british then. Well hmm lets see why we (Britain) are now a 'target' for Saddam. Well could it be that our prime minister has his tongue stuck firmly up Bush's arse?
And I "refuse" to post any more on this issue, (unless I decide to then tell everyone my nationality in the vague hope that someone cares.)

Um sorry but my comments are anti war not just anti-american administration. The fact that you associate America and War so closely just proves my point.
What point *is* that?
rahter than your warmongering retoric?
It's not war mongering at all... it's an opinion, which you don't seem to like one bit. I can respect your opinion. I don't agree with it, but I respect it. You don't agree with mine nor, it seems, respect it.
I didnt ask you to "buy" it. I just thank God that you are not in charge of anything, nor are you ever likely to be.
I know you didn't - it's just a phrase I use. You should indeed thank God I'm not in charge of anything - including this country.
I think we were digging it up purely to show what a bunch of hypocritical cretins a lot of the western world leader are. (not just america).
Why exactly *is* that? Is it because you have no reasonable argument with which to argue against a war with Iraq?
NOTHING I have said DEFENDS Iraq or Saddam Hussein.
No? Then why are you arguing against the war? That in itself is a defence of the scumbag.
Dont be too sure. Bush has put the decision in the hands of the UN, and I think that the people there are several orders of magnitude cleverer and more level headed that Dubbya. Thank God for that.
Right. And since when has America ever listened to anything anyone has to say? It'll happen, it'll be a success, Saddam will either die or be captured - and even then people like you will argue we were wrong.
Doesnt say much for your communications skills then.
More insults.
It was a joke retard. do you see what I did there, I took the phrase *thumbs up for Gary* and changed some of the words. Do you get it? And you are the primative warmonger. it is you that needs to "grow up"
Of course I get it. But why the insults again? I reiterate - grow up.
And there you go, proving my point. Wow, what a mature, sensible attitude you have.
Is it quite sensible when you think about it - you're so consumed with anger at my last post you're not thinking right, are you? I'm glad Bush and Blair are doing the sensible thing and making waves to remove Saddam.
Are the language of the lower classes. The language of the Daily Mirror reader some might suggest. Oh actually I guess the Daily Mirror might be to highbrow for you.
Again, 'too fucking right' is a phrase I use occasionally. If you don't like the language I shall censor it in future... not.
Refuse? like we were forcing you to post to begin with? hmmm dont think so. Well good then, I wont have to read anymore of this warmongering "drivel".
I felt compelled to post. You felt compelled to offer an alternate point of view, which is fair enough.
As if anyone cares. I think the Daily Mirror commentary told us that you arent American. Duh. So you are british then. Well hmm lets see why we (Britain) are now a 'target' for Saddam. Well could it be that our prime minister has his tongue stuck firmly up Bush's arse?
I thought it was a point worth making regardless. Yes I am British. We have a history of closeness with America, so the Blair up Bush's arse argument doesn't wash with me.
And I "refuse" to post any more on this issue, (unless I decide to then tell everyone my nationality in the vague hope that someone cares.) If anyone thinks I'm ANTI American, I'm not. I'm A HUMAN BEING. I have strong views on a variety of subjects and I'm not afraid to air them - I make no apologies for anything I've posted. Now I'm done.

The point that America's position is so closly tied to WAR that they are blind to any other alternatives.

"You don't agree with mine nor, it seems, respect it." The same could be said about you. you dont respect my "pacifist drivel"

WHAT????!!! Im sorry. but Arguing against a war on the grounds that war is wrong is NOTHING LIKE the same as "defence of the scumbag". Jeez. I would like nothing better than for Saddam to not get nukes but I NEVER EVER EVER said that Saddam is OK and lets leave him alone.

Yeah Ok that is true enough. sorry for the personal remarks. they did have a sarcsm to them which probably came over more vicious in the text.
"since when has America ever listened to anything anyone has to say"
Yes this is my reason for not liking the administration. Not listening to the rest of the world is not a trait that should be admired.
"We have a history of closeness with America"
Well to a point. There is a reason why a majority of hollywood badies are English you know!! the War of Independence and all that.
And besides we werent so close that the US helped in WWII, not until they had been attacked.
"Blair up Bush's arse argument doesn't wash with me."
It doesnt need to "wash with you" (do you have a thing about communial showering or something (JOKE!! JOKE! I didnt mean anything by that :) )
Anyway. I just dont like blair being that close when he hasnt even had a debate with HIS OWN COUNTRY. Blair is one man, just because he is the PM it shouldnt give him the right to take the whole nation into a war without asking us first.
"If you're going to post something worth reading, please don't echo my words - simply using my words and alternating them is shameful to say the very least"

- However, GWB is hardly a lovely guy.
- America going to war with Iraq would be a bad thing and innocent people WOULD die, yes?
- If America won, there would be a "reigime change", which calls me to question the motive of their attack.
- (aside, what IS the motive of their attack? September 11th? Oil? The fact that Iraq might have nukes [as opposed to all the other countries that might have nukes...]...?)
- If Iraq won, it's not going to be better either, is it?
- So there are no real benefits from going to war.. it's not really a "war on terror", but then again neither was all that Afghanistan business.
_ Nations that harbour terrorists of course inludes The United Kingdom. Bring on the "War on Terror"!
Man, sorry. But it was kind of going off topic..

Indeed Uncle Moc.
GWB (with the record for the most people put to death whilst govenor in Texas) is hardly a lovely guy.
I agree with all your points.
The fact that we are not sure what the motive is; Oil, Nukes, Reigeme Change, 9/11, just shows how shady the whole thing really is.
I never did buy into the whole "War on Terror" and "Axis of Evil" what do those phrases mean anyway?

A new posting voice speaks! Kill the interloper!
However, he makes very good points... =]

So true. "War on terror" = we're angry after Sept 11th, and are going to declare
WAR... if only we knew who to declare it
on..

Feel like I ought to be a bit controversial, especially as everyone's agreed with me so far, but I actually like the Daily Mirror.. it's nice to have a Tabloid Paper that isn't "bring back the rope!" (Daily Mail) or gives a whole page to Richard Littlejohn to vent his racist spleen (The Sun). Plus it means you don't have to read the Guardian to read the lefty press. Not so sure about the 3am girls though...

Hell no. Although I don't know if that's a good thing or not. Last thing I heard, the Guardian does though.
Like I asked before, where is the love?

Missing.
I think we should leave this alone now.
