BOOK REVIEW : “Man and Wife” by Tony Parsons

Tony Parsons is on a roll. First, “Man and Boy” captivated our minds and bought to us everything wanted from a book. Then, “One for my baby” was released, although not as popular as “Man and Boy”, it was still a griping novel about love, trust, deceit and happiness.

Now Tony Parsons is back again, with “Man and Wife”, which can be read as a standalone book, or as a continuation from “Man and Boy”.

Harry Silver is back, his divorce with Gina is in the past and he is trying to concentrate on his new life, and marriage, with Cyd, Peggy and Pat. Life couldn’t get much better. But then, the problems start.

Gina and her new Husband – Richard, tell Harry that they are moving away to America for a new start. Harry is devastated but after seeking legal advice, finds that there is nothing he can do. Next, he finds out that his mother has developed breast cancer just a few years after he lost his father to the same deadly disease. After all this the only thing he thought he could rely on was his job. No such Luck. “Fish on Friday” is scrapped after the Eamon Fish developers a drug addiction.

The rest of the novel sees Harry have another affair and almost loose his latest marriage, but with more twists than you get with playing twister, Harry gets his life back on track.

Expect this book to be a best seller, but will it be the last one for Parsons? Although a great book, there is only so much people can take of the same kind of “affair, cheat and love” story lines.

Surely it's a tale about Mandy the Lesbian and her carpet licking wife?
