When i was at middle school, when i was 11, i went on a field trip to some place called netherswell manor (not important). while i was there i met three girls from another school. For a while afterwards we kept in touch and i went out with them a few times. So i last saw them about 10 years ago.
Then, this morning on the train, a girl gets on at the second stop. And i instantly recognise her. It's carrie, from 10 years ago. Nothing too weird about that, unless you consider that:
a) i have the worst memory of anyone, EVER
b) this was 10 years ago
c) i couldn't have described her to you yesterday if you'd asked.
so anyway, there she is on the train. we had a chat and she's working just down the road from me at bupa, after doing a degree in sports science or something.
have any of you lot ever run into anyone from AGES ago and instantly recognised them? i have trouble remembering people i met last week...

I saw the boy I used to play kiss chase with in the playground many moons ago. I was in my local and I knew it was him coz he had ginger hair and a hare-lip. His name was David something.
I pretended not to notice him and he did the same.
I hadn't seen him for well over 18 years.
(Fuck knows why I chased after him for.)
Yeah those ginger hare-lipped people really blend into the crowd dont they.

i'd like to point out that the girl i met on the train was not ginger. infact she's very normal looking.

My mate (X-Files) was leader of the Counter Strike clan [JRDF]. Serveral people joined the clan, from all over the world, as they do.
It was only when he went out to Canada to his cousins wedding did he realise that his [DCL], [JRDF]Hudson, was also his cousin.

My Fiance is ginger.
Sorry if anyone took offence to that.
( and the Hare-lip thing - sorry if anyone has one. I wasn't being mean. Err.. its quite endearing really.... )

I have a REALLY bad memory so I dont have these experiences. I somtimes recognise faces but names I'm terrible with.
Although I did see something quite strange today, a 607Mb powerpoint file. And it was only 32 slides in length. The funny thing was, she wondered why it her machine went 'funny' everytime she opened it.

I grew up in Wisconsin (middle of the US, near Canada.) When I was a teenager I went to a George Michael concert and met these twin girls. I saw them once in awhile afterwards.
Years later I moved to London. One night I got a call from my mother in Wisconsin saying, "Were you on a tube in Earls Court today?" Very strange, since she had never been to London or heard of Earl's Court.
Apparently, the twins (who had also moved to London)had seen me on the train from another train, picked me out, and called my mom to see if it was really me. Now I do have fairly distinctive hair (very blonde and curly), but still to pick me out from a passing train is amazing. I had lunch with the twins a few days later. Very strange.

Wooooo!!!! That is so cool! I want more strange coincidences. I recently read up on the, so called, 'Birthday Paradox'. Not so much a coincidence, more just maths really. The basic premise is that if you get 23 people in a room, there's a 50/50 chance that at least 2 people will share the same birthday.
Lets try.
Mine is the 12th of April

cal, 17:25, 2nd October 2002:

Ooh, ooh, I got one!
About fifteen years ago, Cal and my girlfriend (who none of us knew at the time) used to live about ten miles apart in Gloucestershire.
They both moved house at the same time, Cal to live in Keysoe, and Harriet to live in Upper Dean, which is, spookily, about ten miles apart.
Crazy.

that's not wierd cal, that's lazy!
I was friends when younger with a guy in school who moved to the states when we were 13. I went and stayed with him for the summer when I was 15. After that we lost contact.
When I started university and bought my first flat we were having a flat warming and the guy from downstairs came up to complain about the noise. It was my friends uncle.
Not as weird as the occurance of 23 though...
