Hmm, still says there are no news posts since my last visit, which there were.

google search opens in a new window aswell - and doesnt say it is going to do so

iamcal search didnt seem to work..
Posted by jlittle, 14:45, 22nd October 2002:

ahhh. i see, it checks every 1 min - can you do it so that we can set how often it checks?
Posted by Sul, 14:46, 22nd October 2002:

Oooooh looks nice
Posted by cal, 14:49, 22nd October 2002:

i know about the opening in a new window thing. as it says - still testing
Posted by cal, 14:50, 22nd October 2002:

and no, you can't have it checking any more often - that's my bandwidth at stake
Posted by chandler, 14:52, 22nd October 2002:

this is very very cool. but cant you have it as a bar at the top rather than taking up my valuable sapce on the side. or am i just showing my stupidity and I could just move it?
Posted by cal, 14:53, 22nd October 2002:

not really - the info it displays wouldn't fit into a bar

and bars work very differently and would require some c programming
Posted by Sul, 14:55, 22nd October 2002:

and when will the messenger be active? :D
Posted by chandler, 14:56, 22nd October 2002:

cal: oh, ok never mind.

i bet there a loads of other usedful things you could put in the bar too. like um a nice picture of kitten
Posted by cal, 14:57, 22nd October 2002:

sul: maybe never. i'm experimenting at the moment
Posted by Sul, 14:57, 22nd October 2002:

Nooo a picture of my dancing arse! That'd be cool.

work safe? who knows?

i'm getting too much email from your beta testing!
Posted by Grim..., 15:15, 22nd October 2002:

I'll get it when I get home.
Someone want to post a screen grab to let me know what I'm missing?
Posted by jlittle, 15:20, 22nd October 2002:

Hmm, it doesnt work for me

whenever it tries to check - it says "checking now.." and stays like that..
Posted by chandler, 15:33, 22nd October 2002:

Cal thats great, but the kitten needs centering! also I think you should keep the kitten on there forever, so that when others get the bar they will be confused as to the meaning of the kitten
Posted by chandler, 15:34, 22nd October 2002:

that is a really cute kitten
Posted by chandler, 15:58, 22nd October 2002:

Typical, you work on your calbar, you put a kitten on it, and then nobody posts. tsk
Posted by cal, 16:03, 22nd October 2002:

jlittle - what browser/os?
Posted by chandler, 16:19, 22nd October 2002:

The kitten still isnt centered cal. how many times do I have to tell you ;)
Posted by Gary, 16:22, 22nd October 2002:

Ooooh! I LIKE this very much - that kitten is cute! :)
Posted by chandler, 16:37, 22nd October 2002:

see what an enhancement a little kitten can be? every project should have one.
Posted by chandler, 16:40, 22nd October 2002:

Hey I love the way the blue that the kitten is on matches the IamCal colours (that I am using) nice. still not centered though
Posted by cal, 16:47, 22nd October 2002:

ok, ok, i've centered it

it uses your windows colors so that it matches whatever you have set up (background color, text color and font)
Posted by cal, 16:49, 22nd October 2002:

test
Posted by Gary, 16:50, 22nd October 2002:

Do you know what would be REALLY cool, Cal? Instead of the same kitty every time, how about a RANDOM kitten picture! :)
Posted by chandler, 16:52, 22nd October 2002:

i meant the cloth that the kitten is on happens to be blue! which matches my iamcal settings!

thank you for centering it, I am now very happy :) , and I see you have labelled it kitten, which makes me even happier. :D

Simple things...
Posted by chandler, 16:52, 22nd October 2002:

Gary, that sounds like Krazy talk to me!
Posted by Gary, 16:53, 22nd October 2002:

Hehehehe... :)
Posted by msmissy, 16:58, 22nd October 2002:

I am impressed that you just whipped this bar up in one day - especially with the kitten and everything.
Posted by chandler, 17:03, 22nd October 2002:

one thing cal, if you are on a page, say this one, then you notice that apparently there are more posts on this page (according to your bar) then if you click the lnk ont he bar it doesnt load, you have to F5 it. but if therre are updates on other pages you can just click them
Posted by chandler, 17:03, 22nd October 2002:

it wont refresh the page you are on.
Posted by chandler, 17:03, 22nd October 2002:

but yes I am very impressed.
Posted by Victor Menendez, 17:38, 22nd October 2002:

Nice pussy!
Posted by chandler, 17:41, 22nd October 2002:

someone always has to go and ruin the moment.

:)
Posted by cal, 21:59, 22nd October 2002:

chay: that's interesting - i think i can do a workaround for that tomorrow
Posted by chandler, 23:32, 22nd October 2002:

cal: it seems to be OK now I think. you'll have to check but it seems to be refreshing. or not, I just dont know
Posted by Grim..., 01:53, 23rd October 2002:

Can I have a 'kitten on / off' button please?
Posted by Grim..., 01:54, 23rd October 2002:

I really need to go to sleep now...
Posted by chandler, 09:09, 23rd October 2002:

"Can I have a 'kitten on / off' button please"

What are you trying to say about the kitten? huh huh, well, shhh, don't say that, he might hear you.

kitten on/off button indeed. tsk tsk
Posted by Sul, 09:38, 23rd October 2002:

it is my firm beleif that my browser now outrocks everyone elses in the office
Posted by cal, 09:46, 23rd October 2002:

because of the kitten?

you can now toggle it (and every other box)
Posted by chandler, 09:52, 23rd October 2002:

why would anyone want to switch the kitten off? It's mind boggling
Posted by Sul, 09:53, 23rd October 2002:

of course because of the kitten

yahoo has just died on me again :(
Once again I have no IMs
Can you get the messenger working please
Posted by chandler, 09:53, 23rd October 2002:

oh I like the fac tI can toggle the other things on and off too. I could just have a bar with a kitten and get rid of all the rest. cool
Posted by Grim..., 09:57, 23rd October 2002:

:sigh:
Posted by Sul, 10:02, 23rd October 2002:

Chandler. That is a fantastic idea! But it sort of defats the purpose of the bar. It would be more of a b3ta bar then wouldnt it. Not that I'm dissing kitty but still.

Ooooh we need to name him!
Posted by Grim..., 10:21, 23rd October 2002:

Let us name the kitty:
I nominate "Kebab Fodder"
Posted by chandler, 10:21, 23rd October 2002:

marvin spanglepants? or would that be animal cruelty?

how about tyler?
or pickle?
Posted by chandler, 10:22, 23rd October 2002:

How about Grim... ...Reaper. On second thoughts what kind of a muppet would choose a name like that. ;)
Posted by chandler, 10:24, 23rd October 2002:

kipper?
Posted by chandler, 10:24, 23rd October 2002:

bert
Posted by chandler, 10:24, 23rd October 2002:

Mr Fluffy
Posted by Grim..., 10:32, 23rd October 2002:

=[

I don't know how to work the messenger =[
Posted by Sul, 11:00, 23rd October 2002:

I used to have a cat called Bert. He was named after Bert Racoon :D

He died a couple of months back :(
Posted by chandler, 11:03, 23rd October 2002:

Oh, i'm sorry. maybe we should call the kitten bert as a tribute? what do you think? Or maybe we should call it Cyril Sneer?
Posted by Sul, 11:09, 23rd October 2002:

Cyril Sneer would be cool. And it would be a tribute too.
Posted by Grim..., 11:11, 23rd October 2002:

What were the characters called in 'The Racoons'.
The was Bert, Cyril and Cedric Sneer, but that's all I can remember.
Was the dog called Dozer, or something?
Posted by cal, 11:14, 23rd October 2002:

i quite like 'pickle'
Posted by chandler, 11:16, 23rd October 2002:

pickle is nice yes. its up to the group to decide. :)
Posted by Sul, 11:18, 23rd October 2002:

Grim...: I'm not sure. The dozers were the little men in fragel rock werent they?

Cal: Pickle is nice. But can he be called Pickle Sneer officially? My cat is dead after all.
Posted by Sul, 11:21, 23rd October 2002:

And when people say, "Why's he called Pickle Sneer?" You could say "Because Sul's cat's dead"
Posted by chandler, 11:21, 23rd October 2002:

Bert Racoon (the hero)
Ralph and Melissa Racoon (married)
The Three Little Pigs (dont think they had names)
Cyril and Cedrick Sneer (what in gods name were they supposed to be?)
Schaffer was the older sheepdog
Broo (or Brew?) was the little sheepdog

or so I seem to remember
Posted by chandler, 11:24, 23rd October 2002:

Sul: yes the dozers were the little guys in fraggle rock!

"And when people say, "Why's he called Pickle Sneer?" You could say "Because Sul's cat's dead"

Great Plan.

though the sneers werent all that nice and that kitten has racoon like striping, and your cat was called bert (racoon).

so I suggest
Pickle Racoon.

All those in favour say Aye!
Posted by cal, 11:26, 23rd October 2002:

pickle racoon sounds good to me
Posted by Sul, 11:26, 23rd October 2002:

Aye!
Posted by Grim..., 11:46, 23rd October 2002:

Sold to me =]
(Even though I'll keep turning it off...)
Posted by chandler, 11:48, 23rd October 2002:

I guess the next step is for Cal to change the heading from Kitten: to Pickle Racoon: :D
Posted by chandler, 11:49, 23rd October 2002:

That'll really mess with peoples heads. :P
Posted by Sul, 11:53, 23rd October 2002:

damn right it would
Posted by MonkeyArmada, 12:13, 23rd October 2002:

When I get a dog, I'm calling it 'SEMTEX'
Posted by cal, 14:46, 23rd October 2002:

why?
Posted by chandler, 14:50, 23rd October 2002:

Cal, remember to change "Kitten:" to "Pickle Racoon:" time is a wasting!
Posted by Gary, 15:04, 23rd October 2002:

I still think a random kitty picture should be implemented too. ;)
Posted by chandler, 15:08, 23rd October 2002:

but what are the chances of finding more than one kitten called Pickle Racoon?

Oh and I think that "Pickle J. Racoon" sounds even better.
Posted by Sul, 15:14, 23rd October 2002:

YES CHANDLER YES!
Posted by Victor Menendez, 17:31, 23rd October 2002:

I prefer mr Chuckletrousers
Posted by chandler, 17:34, 23rd October 2002:

sounds like one of the clowns that me and jess drowned yesterday. He was chuckling on the other side of his trousers by the time we were finished.
Posted by chandler, 17:35, 23rd October 2002:

though of course he wasnt chuckling at all cos he was dead
Posted by Gary, 17:44, 23rd October 2002:

I still insist on a random kitty picture. :P
Posted by chandler, 17:46, 23rd October 2002:

but you will hurt Pickle J Racoon's feelings if he is occassionally replaced by another kitty.

PS I have decided to call him "Dil" for short.
Posted by Gary, 17:58, 23rd October 2002:

I'm sure Pickle would like a rest every now and then instead of being reloaded all the time! :P

How's about we collect some kitty pictures and give them all names using a poll or something?
Posted by chandler, 19:37, 23rd October 2002:

ok gary, I give in. bring on the kitten pictures. :)
Posted by chandler, 19:41, 23rd October 2002:

CAL: heres a thought. Not related to the calbar but anyway: Your Topic of the Day, also (usually) gets repeated in the most recent posts list. Now that means that there are only 4 links and the topic of the day twice. Why dont you make the most recent bit exclude topic of the day? Just a thought.
Posted by cal, 22:18, 23rd October 2002:

that's a good idea
Posted by cal, 22:25, 23rd October 2002:

err, actually...

it need to be in the updated list, else you don't know when it's been updated!

sometimes a topic can be topic of the day, but not be updated for a few days
Posted by chandler, 22:46, 23rd October 2002:

Damn. I knew their must be a reason. :) but you see my point. sort of?
Posted by Redmaiden, 22:50, 23rd October 2002:

I luv pickle
Posted by Redmaiden, 22:52, 23rd October 2002:

omg The Raccoons, I watched them all omg I'm reminiscing!!!
Posted by chandler, 23:36, 23rd October 2002:

omg :) I have the theme tune on my PC, actually Racoons was on TV only the other day. :)
Posted by reitsma, 00:17, 24th October 2002:

cal: why not make it so that the topic of the day has a little arrow instead of a bullet when it has been updated, and a normal bullet when it hasn't?
:o)
Posted by ell, 04:45, 24th October 2002:

Hehehe, this is your own fault Cal. :D Give the posters a finger, and they'll take an arm. ;)
Posted by chandler, 09:29, 24th October 2002:

he only told us it was his finger
Posted by Grim..., 15:39, 24th October 2002:

Am I missing something, or do I have to click the IAmCal bar link every time I want the bar to be displayed?
Posted by Grim..., 15:41, 24th October 2002:

If you click here, you can add all of IAmCal into a bar =]
Posted by cal, 21:16, 28th October 2002:

i'm working on a script that will let you add the iamcal bar permenantly...
Posted by chandler, 10:24, 30th April 2003:

are you gonna implement this cal. cos i feel i need a cal bar! and Pickle J Racoon!
Posted by beargod, 10:41, 30th April 2003:

It doesn't work at all for me
Posted by cal, 10:41, 30th April 2003:

not any time soon
Posted by chandler, 10:43, 30th April 2003:

:D
Posted by chandler, 10:44, 30th April 2003:

it used to work beargod, but it doesnt any more, it was really handy cos you could tell when people had posted reples, without haveing to go through the threads one by one.
Posted by beargod, 10:49, 30th April 2003:

oh, thats a shame, it looked good, but then again I don't use IE
Posted by cal, 10:53, 30th April 2003:

chay: for that, usse the mailing list
Posted by chandler, 10:57, 30th April 2003:

doesnt the mailing list just spam my inbox with thousands of e-mails? cos that sucks.

plus you are underestimating the power and beauty of Pickle J Racoon
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 10:58, 30th April 2003:

Whats IE?
Posted by chandler, 11:00, 30th April 2003:

Internet Explorer
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 11:05, 30th April 2003:

sheesh, why not just say that then..now i feel like a tit.
Posted by beargod, 11:10, 30th April 2003:

Sorry Foggy, Its just to prevent typing so much, most people know what IE is
Posted by Victor Menendez, 11:10, 30th April 2003:

Bah, i thought this was a new thread and i was experiencing a strange sense of deja-vu.
Posted by cal, 12:11, 30th April 2003:

"doesnt the mailing list just spam my inbox with thousands of e-mails? cos that sucks"

you get as many mails as there are messages posted here. but it's pretty easy to delete them :/
Posted by chandler, 12:14, 30th April 2003:

ok
Posted by chandler, 12:15, 30th April 2003:

but wont half the e-mails be posts from that annoying couple that keep being cute all the time and killing all the threads?
Posted by Sul, 12:17, 30th April 2003:

I can show you what rule I set up to get rid of those ones chay ;)
Posted by chandler, 12:28, 30th April 2003:

hehe
Posted by chandler, 12:31, 30th April 2003:

Apply this rule after the message arrives:
Where the message body contains specific words: "Chipmunk, Mista Snuffles, awwwww, Sweetie, cute, meiow, grrrrowl, snuggle, darling, love you, reddy, poppet."
Move it to the specified folder: "pukebucket"
Posted by chandler, 12:31, 30th April 2003:

that one?
Posted by cal, 15:44, 30th April 2003:

yeah, that's the one i use
Posted by chandler, 15:51, 30th April 2003:

thats funny im gonna use the opposite rule so i ONLY get us being cute!
Posted by jeff, 15:52, 30th April 2003:

i always wanted a kitten but i cant have one because i'm allergic... i was going to call it Ian... can it be pickle i. racoon ?? not that i even have the sidebar.. mmm netscape lovely netscape tabbed browsing *drool*
Posted by arsepuppy, 15:55, 30th April 2003:

Yeah but Opera has that, as well as cool buttony things.
Posted by jeff, 15:56, 30th April 2003:

i might get phoenix instead... just cos y'know, it'd make me cool..
Posted by chandler, 15:58, 30th April 2003:

no his name is pickle j racoon.

you cant go changing his name just like that.
Posted by arsepuppy, 15:59, 30th April 2003:

Haven't heard of that. I need to work harder if I want geek cred. Only just found out recntly what a "l33t haXX0r" is :(
Posted by beargod, 16:01, 30th April 2003:

Pheonix, is ok, netscape has all the bad things from Mozilla with out most of the good things, plus all of the bad things from AOL, not a nice browser, stick with Mozilla
Posted by cal, 16:02, 30th April 2003:

the only way to get browser cred is to use Camino 0.7 or Safari beta 2
Posted by jeff, 16:02, 30th April 2003:

ap, you dont want geek cred.. we wont respect you for it in the morning

chay, thats not fair! i wasnt here, and i've ALWAYS wanted a kitten and never been allowed one... my wife wouldnt even let me name one of her kittens... he was a little ginger tom and i wanted to call him ian but she wouldnt let me.. they called him milo instead... i hate animals with cutesy names, they should all have proper names :(
Posted by arsepuppy, 16:02, 30th April 2003:

Yay! I know Mozilla. That's the red dinosaur one isn't it?
Posted by jeff, 16:03, 30th April 2003:

mozilla took about a week to load and kept crashing.. i didnt like it
Posted by Victor Menendez, 16:04, 30th April 2003:

its the 'j' that really sets off the name.

cal: i agree!
Posted by beargod, 16:04, 30th April 2003:

It is what Netscape and Pheonix is made from, with things taken off
Posted by jeff, 16:05, 30th April 2003:

that and i got so fed up trying to make the mozilla calendar work that i had to get rid of it.. i just didnt work
Posted by arsepuppy, 16:06, 30th April 2003:

jeff: in the morning?
Posted by jeff, 16:06, 30th April 2003:

i hate computers. i think i might blow mine up as soon as i've finsihed this stupid crappy course crap grr nnnggg mmffff... bleh
Posted by arsepuppy, 16:07, 30th April 2003:

This computery stuff makes my head hurt. I want a "speak and spell".
Posted by jeff, 16:07, 30th April 2003:

ap,i dont know
Posted by jeff, 16:08, 30th April 2003:

i want to go back to 'my first talking computer' man that rocked, it had spelling challenges and maths and puzzles, kept me entertained for aaaaaaaages...
Posted by arsepuppy, 16:08, 30th April 2003:

I want to go home and play Buckaroo. Because I can.
Posted by chandler, 16:09, 30th April 2003:

jess: vicky is right about the "j"
and the red panda i got reddy is called Mista Snuffles. thats a proper name!

:D
Posted by jeff, 16:11, 30th April 2003:

screw you guys..
Posted by jeff, 16:11, 30th April 2003:

can the J stand for jeff then?
Posted by jeff, 16:11, 30th April 2003:

i'd call a cat jeff if i couldnt call it ian...
Posted by arsepuppy, 16:12, 30th April 2003:

No, a proper name would be Dave. Which is the name of the wooden shark me and Marie adopted. It's the best shark ever. Although his dad suffers from leprosy and lives with Dave.
Posted by jeff, 16:13, 30th April 2003:

nah, dave is such a cliche (2001) and my husband is called dave so we couldnt call the kitten that..
Posted by beargod, 16:13, 30th April 2003:

what mozilla calander thing jess? there isn't one, I am using it right now perfectly happy, Mozilla and Opera are the only two browsers I really use, thats another point Cal I tried this site with opera and something was playing around, I couldn't post, it went all fine, I stopped looking at that thread and then the post that I had put in wasn't there, it was reallt spooky
Posted by chandler, 16:13, 30th April 2003:

arsepuppy: ! :)

This site always crashes my IE at work. I'm told its something to do with Service Pack or something (?).

Ghost Pigeon should be on everything ever.

Jeff: Did I tell you about my film idea? It's a surefire classic, I tell you!

Arsepuppy are you using win 98 and IE 6?
Posted by arsepuppy, 16:18, 30th April 2003:

Win 2000 and IE5. The computers at work are a bit flaky though. Bloody Compaq Evos.

Actually, don't tell Dave this, but he and his family aren't really sharks. They are sticks that we found in a park. It'll break his heart if he finds out.

yep
Posted by beargod, 17:14, 30th April 2003:

The new version of Opera has alot more features but still stinks, I can't stand how slow IE is, especially opening a new window for it, It must use ten times more ram and on a machin that looses memory fast, that isn't useful

It would be really cool if it could grep the whole message database and display thumbnails of recently posted images! (Although it's a bit of a moot point because I use Camino...)
