Does that make me odd?

If you mean the crappy garage band when some guy drones over a monotonous beat...
Well, no, I guess.
Each to his own.

Posted by Gary, 19:08, 23rd October 2002:

The Streets? Never heard of them.

I like streets lined with trees .... especially in the fall.
Posted by chris, 20:37, 23rd October 2002:

the streets are coool...

I used to think that there was a road around the corner from me called "No Through Road". I still wonder how I managed to remember to breathe when I was a child, I really do!

I bought the album the other week "original pirate material" - I think its pants. I don't know whether the guy is trying to be hard, or taking the piss out of people who try and act hard..

Chris -

Fall = Autumn
Posted by chandler, 12:41, 24th October 2002:

Nov: yeah I think he knows that, it was just a terrible terrible joke
Posted by chandler, 12:42, 24th October 2002:

Actually in England we can say that things are Autumnal (Autumn Like), eg "the wind had an Autumnal Feel" what do you say in the States? Fallal? :) or Fall-Like? or maybe you never say that
Posted by November Eclectica, 12:48, 24th October 2002:

I personally say Fall-Like.
Posted by chandler, 12:50, 24th October 2002:

right. thanks, just wondered :)

I really liked the Streets album. Don't really see the 'trying to be hard' angle though, it's quite the opposite really. Although I can see why people don't like it, as it is quite rough-cut and stuff. Dare I say it but its comparable to modern-day working class beat poetry, and is quite representative of life in working-class urban environments. At least the places I know.
Posted by arsepuppy, 12:56, 24th October 2002:

If I lived in America, I probably wouldn't have had the mickey taken out of me in little school for having a surname that sounds a bit like 'Autumn'. Although "Fall-Like" sounds like something a music critic would say upon hearing something that sounded a bit like Mark E Smith & co...

gary: urgh. what a suprise. it's popular music, not your sort of thing

If it's "popular" music, then why haven't I heard of them? :P
Posted by arsepuppy, 13:16, 24th October 2002:

Bloody 'ell I sounded really pretentious then. I shall balance this out by grunting loudly

*grunts*

There.

I find millionairre harder to win on than WL as you keep your money as soon as you go onto the next stage on WL but lose it all on WWTBAM

Has anyone got the new Coldplay album, and if so is it any good?

(Marks out of 10 appreciated.)
Posted by arsepuppy, 16:26, 24th October 2002:

Rosie: I don't have it but I've heard it a few times if that helps. Seems much better than their first one. I won't give a mark cos I'm crap at that sort of thing and they're not particularly my taste but if you liked their last one, you'll like their new one more. yes.

i quite like the streets. i dont think he has any particular musical talent, but the songs are quite amusing. 'the irony of it all' is a fun listen. kinda.

on the way to my girlfriend's place, there's a Lois Lane.
makes me giggle every time i see it (or think of it)... one of the advantages of having a simple mind, i guess.
Posted by Grim..., 08:41, 25th October 2002:

In a village close(ish) to me, they obviously thought 'Church Lane' was a bit boring. They called it 'Bell End' =]
Posted by MonkeyArmada, 14:55, 25th October 2002:

Grim, are you near SantaPod?
Posted by Grim..., 15:26, 25th October 2002:

Yup. Do you know the place? It's in that area, although I can't remember where...

Well in Bradford there is a road called:
The Street of Building Materials
Posted by Sul, 12:56, 27th October 2002:

The wind is so bad down here atm that the road I'm on (union street SE1) is covered in building materials and a fucking huge up rooted tree!

Maybe they can twin the streets.

Was stuck on the train at Kidbrooke for ages this morning due to fallen stuff on the railway line. Bloody wind! I'm scared I'm not going to get home safe tonight!
Posted by ell, 13:52, 27th October 2002:

Yes, the wind plus the fact that I had a dream one of my best friends was trying to kill me have set me on edged today... and my girlfriend is travelling back by train from Leeds today. :-\

It's been dark times recently.. 2 friends-of-friends have died within the last week. :(
