I am planning to write emails / letters / pleas to a number of 'old-school' comedians to enquire about the hourly cost of a personal appearance and perfromance, witha view to maybe hiring one for my dad's birthday next year. The fact I will get a 'pay league' of the UK's oldest comedians which will be dumped onto my website, is a complete by-product.

So far I have:

Bobby Davro
Cannon & Ball
Mike Reid
Mick Miller
Jim Bowen
Ken Dodd
Max Wall
Frank Carson
Norman Collier
Jimmy Cricket
Duncan Norvelle
Jimmy Tarbuck
Bob Monkhouse
Freddie Starr
Stan Boardman

Any other suggestions?

Jim Bowen's quit showbiz, though.

Arfur Atkinson
Chester Drawers
Ed Winchester
Jim Davidson

Er, actually scratch that one as well

VM: Nah, the guy who was in that sitcom with Tracey Ullman and Lenny Henry

He was as funny as a brain haemorrage, but still...

Well looking at the rest of our list he'd still make the top five.

Mike Reid is probably the funniest but also the most expensive. Whatever you do don't hire Jim Davidson please. For the good of humanity...

If you hire Mike Reid (has to be on a Frank-only basis), you will have to get Joe Scully, Dr Karl Kennedy and Mr T so you can have a coolest man ever competition, in the form of a karaoke shindig. Bruce Campbell should be the judge. Yeah.
