What programs do you consider necessary to be installed on every machine? I'm getting ready to format my Win2000 box again, so I've got to take these things into consideration. ;)

For me:
EditPlus Access Manager WinRAR ACDSee Classic Photoshop SmartFTP Winamp Acrobat Apache, PHP, Perl, MySQL, etc. Norton AntiVirus PostCast Server LAME/ripper Mozilla Word AIM

cal, do you use a separate machine as a dev server? I've got a few spare parts laying around, and I was considering building a server of my own for dev and SMTP serving.

All I need is some more RAM (have 64 MB, want at least 256) and a CD-ROM drive. Actually, I guess I don't really need a CD drive, because I could just copy over the Win2000 setup files onto the new HD. So a stick of PC100 RAM would run me, what, $20? :p

oooh, I'm not a big fan of sampled songs but I was in freespirit the other day and hear a song that was basically sampling shit loads of stuff, like that avalanches track (couldve been them for all I know) but it had the trapdoor theme in it and I found myself looking for my hat singing along. I love that theme. Only have 2 VHSs of trapdoor though. I'm sure I need more. Willy

cal: I think I'll build a small fleet of $150 budget machines for testing. We're talking bare bones here. :)

Especially with a Nick that directly translates as 'Take me from behind, big boy'...
