i always wanted to try that sandwich lister went on about in red dwarf, something like a fried egg, chilli, chutney sandwich.. or something... and for some reason, the episode where kryton makes him waffles and he throws them away then scoops them out of the bin into his hat, makes me hungry..

Why so much nonsense...just get 2 bits of bread and 4 slices of bacon. Fry said bacon and stick between bread...next eat! Easy.

Philistine. Oh and the bacon must be grilled not fried.
Posted by Victor Menendez, 15:03, 9th December 2002:

Fried, with brown sauce (HP) and mushrooms.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 15:13, 9th December 2002:

Grilled?? Are you on a diet ilovebeerme? If not, then fry it...far far tastier.
Posted by ilovebeerme, 15:17, 9th December 2002:

Nope hate fried bacon. Yechhhh. What you described was just a normal bacon sandwich. I was passing on the recipie for the legendary Bacon Sangwidge. It's special (like me).

Fried bacon has that greasy, fatty taste to it, very rich and meaty. Not a big fan of that.

Posted by ilovebeerme, 15:40, 9th December 2002:

no Victor I just don't like the taste of fried bacon I find it too rich and cloying.

Fair enough, deep fried mars bar anyone?

Crazy Chunky Chili

You Require:

500g of Turkey mince (or soy)
Red Onions (1 big ass one or two medium)
2 Red Peppers
Loads of Mushrooms
At least 3 red chilis
2 Jars of Dolmio or choosen Tomato sauce (you can make your own but mine is never as good)
Tomato Puree
Kidney Beans or Pinto Beans
Chili Powder
2 Bay leaves
Cumin seeds
Plain Chocolate (at least 70% cocoa)

Do This:

1) Cut half or one of the onions fine and one chunky. Add mince, onion, little chili powder and freshly ground cumin to pot (big pot). Add some salt flakes and cracked black pepper. Put on low heat so the mince browns slowly.
2)Cut the rest of your veg chunky, except for the chilli which i cut into fine stips width ways.
3) After 10 mins of so, with regular stiring, add about a jar and a half of tomatoes, the chili, more chili powder and the bay leaves.
4) Cover and let it bubble for a while. Add some tomato puree.
5) Add about 5 pieces of chocolate (about half a bar of that Lindtts stuff, maybe slightly less). Also add the beans of choice.
6)Taste at this point and add more chocolate or chili to taste. The chocolate should be VERY subtle as you are only tasting a wee bit and you're going to eat enough to kill a fat man. The sweetness builds up as I found after eating a bowl of horribly sweet chili on my first go.
7) Add your chunky veg and cook for further 10 minutes of so. Don't let the veg get to soft and tastless.
8) Serve with white basmati and tortillas.

This is always better after a day in the fridge. Nice one.

Jeez you'll be telling me too eat cow next ;).

I shall need to try the chunky chilli but i must admit to be slightly nervous about the chocolate part...but heh, cant argue until i have tried it.

As long as it isnt 'dark' chocolate!
Posted by ilovebeerme, 16:23, 9th December 2002:

It has to be plain dark chocolate as milk stuff goes funny and is far to sweet. I'm not a huge fan of the dark stuff when it's by itself but it works in this.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 16:30, 9th December 2002:

dark chocolate is not good..it really should be banned by all goverments.
Posted by ilovebeerme, 16:33, 9th December 2002:

Yeah but you're not eating it you are cooking with it. You need something bitter and not too sweet to get the right flavour otherwise the world just goes all wrong.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 16:36, 9th December 2002:

Ok, well if the world goes a little weird tonight at around 7.35ish then you know i have forgotten to add the chocolate. If so, i apologies to all in advance.
Posted by ilovebeerme, 16:39, 9th December 2002:

*sigh*. You won't even realise theres chocolate in it. Add it one tiny bit at a time to make sure. All you need is the slightly sweet/bitterness to countr the chili.
