A person in a Sainsbury's store reported a faulty monitor. We got HP to send out a new monitor for them. The monitor arrived on site whereby it was promptly sold... as a TV.
Who's stupider, the person who sold it, or the person who bought it?
how much was it sold for?
Posted by
jeff, 11:03, 6th January 2003:
i'd say the person who bought it. my reason for this being that when working in sainsbury's, the shop floor employees fall into an apathy/crap job induced trance.. if it has a barcode, sell it, who cares what it is...
well thats how i felt about it all anyway..
Posted by
chandler, 11:10, 6th January 2003:
But how the hell did it have a barcode that goes through the tills? cos surely Sainsburys dont sell those monitors normally so it wouldnt be in the system
Posted by
jlittle, 11:19, 6th January 2003:
Depends how much they got for it.

Sul, 13:48, 6th January 2003:
We couldnt get the ins and outs of what happened from the store. Only that it was sold as a TV.
Posted by
jeff, 14:28, 6th January 2003:
maybe it was in a box that looked like a tv box so they just scanned another tv barcode... or maybe they were selling it outside the front and pocketed the cash. either way i still maintain the customer is the stupid one... who wants to buy a friggin tv from a supermarket anyway?
"hmm what do i need? some milk.. ooh cheese.. multipack of crisps, some bread, oh and a tv.."
Posted by
jlittle, 15:44, 6th January 2003:
Maybe the customer really wanted a monitor, and got it for less than a TV.
Maybe the customer IS the clever one.
Posted by
Sul, 15:48, 6th January 2003:
perhaps, perhaps someone stole it, then said they sold it

Uh, I know Ian Watson the science fiction writer, but you may not have heard of him. He has written loads and providied the screenstory for the film AI, but speilburg wrote the actual script so there is someone to blame.
Edited to say that its Not Ian Rankin at all. sorry its Ian Watson, the sci-fi writer not the horror writer. I know him so well I cant remember his name.

i'm sure we've had this conversation before? I wrote and requested that they theme a show around our school, y'know cook school dinners and interview teachers.. for fun or something... anyway, they thought it was lame but said i could have as many tickets as i wanted.. so i got 10... my friend phil ended up introducing the show and being interviewed about his lunch (he stole one of those school dinner trays and froze his canteen pizza) and i sat next to him. My friend caroline had no idea we were going and almost spat out her drink when she saw phil pop up on screen.
we were also on some god awful thing called 'sofa melt' with the woman from cold feet (channel 5). smashing.
