Any congestion charge stories?
Posted by Sul, 11:26, 17th February 2003:

Yeah I have. I just sent a letter to the Metro with the really bad joke:

"I think the congestion charge is really working, my chest feels great."

I thought it was funny.
Posted by Victor Menendez, 11:30, 17th February 2003:

What will you do if they charge you a fiver for it?
Posted by arsepuppy, 11:35, 17th February 2003:

I had a really good weekend (best for bloody ages really). Am very tired now, risking falling asleep at work. That is all.

Vote Tory

Seriously I think the congestion charge is going to cause loads of accidents. I, like many other people in London, am used to being able to weave my way across the road in an amusing frogger-like way practically all the time. This morning I tried to get across at the lights outside Southwark tube station and nearly got hit by a bus! I've never seen them go so fast. I mean there's a bus lane there but that used to be reserved for BMWs.
Posted by Victor Menendez, 11:37, 17th February 2003:

Its a good point, personally i dont drive down here so they can charge 500 quid a day for all i care.
Posted by cal, 11:45, 17th February 2003:

i think they need to replace the roads in central london with a big ice rinks. that would solve all the problems
Posted by Sul, 11:55, 17th February 2003:

because, as we know, one of the biggest problems all Londoners face is that there just aren't enough places to ice skate. If only Ken would address the REAL issues in London instead of sweeping them under the carpet all the time.
Posted by arsepuppy, 12:13, 17th February 2003:

Yeah but I was told that London doesn't have roads, it has massive domino lines that you tiptoe along and dive forward on them to go faster (so the dominoes topple sequentially). It was in "Ghost Pigeon" so it must be true.

Things I did on the weekend:

* Scared a mate by shouting in my sleep
* Nearly spent £1000 on a CD
* Got myself a new ladyfriend (£5 says it won't last)
* Had 2 poos
* Deprived Jess and co. of BUMDOG WEEKEND!!!. Sorry kids. SELFISH BUMDOG!
* Invented a new kind of shop that combines manicures with buggery
* Convinced someone to try and teach ducks to clap

There was other stuff as well, like:
* The "Mr T Is Irish" incident
* "I used to change tyres for F1, not that I like cars, I'm just into tyres"
* The "Making a man out of plantpots and turning up at someone's door and saying 'Look! It's alright now, I've found him'" idea.

Twas a laugh really.

On Friday i made Won Tons for my g/f, they were fuckin rotten! I shall never be making them again, but we managed to wash them down with a few bottles of wine, and rum, and Tiger beer, oh and some tequila...nice head ache in the morning.

I went to football, to see a useless referee and a wanker of a manager.

I abused him, and waiting till he left toe ground to abuse him some more.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 13:33, 17th February 2003:

jlittle - what footie? And more importantly, what manager?
Posted by RUSS, 13:36, 17th February 2003:

my weekend started on wednesday at upton park to watch an even bigger pile of wank, the aussies beating us at football!!
then i got pissed in the pub for 4 days and am now regretting it cause i am nackered
Posted by jlittle, 13:36, 17th February 2003:

Palace vs Leeds, where Leeds one after the ref/linesman ignored a goal that crossed the line, and a handball in the penalty area.

Manager = Terry Vegtables.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 13:41, 17th February 2003:

Ah, i saw that game on tele...Leeds = very lucky.

And Russ, i laughed so much when i saw the England score. Then i cried after watching Scotland.
Posted by arsepuppy, 13:43, 17th February 2003:

Wales = Best Team In UK. Yeah.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 13:46, 17th February 2003:

hmmmmm
Posted by RUSS, 13:48, 17th February 2003:

england are a bunch of overhyped overpaid wankers!
i could have played better than some of them and i am complete shite! you could just tell that not one of them had their heart in it, also those dopes in the fucking brass band should feck off back to neverneverland, if anyone knows them please throw abuse at them for me.thanks i have now got that off my chest.
Posted by RUSS, 13:49, 17th February 2003:

i agree with arsepuppy
Posted by arsepuppy, 13:50, 17th February 2003:

Ok, so our defence is a bit weak but recently we have beaten Germany, Italy, and nearly Argentina(!). Whereas Scotland struggle against the Faroes and England get murdered by the Socceroos and can't put Macedonia away.
Posted by Victor Menendez, 13:51, 17th February 2003:

Yeah, wales are better than england at football, you have a chance to qualify for a tournament for the first time in how long? rock on.

Least your good at rugby though eh?

oh hang on.

oops etc.
Posted by arsepuppy, 13:53, 17th February 2003:

Wales = Best Team In UK (at the moment).

The pre-release promo copy of Prince's "Black Album".

Apparently it's worth much more than that, so a grand didn't seem so bad. It's as rare as a truckload of rocking-horse shit.

Posted by November Eclectica, 16:36, 18th February 2003:

I don't have a boyfriend. My cowboy lives 500 miles from me, so I don;t see him a lot.

I just have friends with benefits. I won't commit to anyone until after a year.

Yes, they know about each other. I don't lie.

Sul rock on!

Cal I am working in a bookshop. It's heaven for me because I love reading, the staff are lovely (as opposed to my last job where you got shouted at for breathing) and I get discount! Wooo cheapo books, amazon can go fuck itself with its bloody £2.95 to deliver a bloody book that weighs about £1.00 *ahem*
Posted by Redmaiden, 19:36, 18th February 2003:

friday night:

the pub. the pub is too busy to hear people talk, so i am bored. i go outside and smoke a joint with friends. some guy comes out and tries to boast about being a junkie. leave about 10.

saturday:

go to the anti-war march. have eardrums ruptured by friend's air horn. we are all bored by trafalgar square and chill out for a while. but it's okay: in the evening we are going to see Detroit Cobras and then go to a squat party.

an hour later, everyone decides they are too tired to go to that, apart from me of course, and i am not going on my own. have no choice but to sulk and be in a foul mood.

train / bus home with one remaining not-exhausted friend, rent out Clerks and Mallrats, bemoan my love life to said friend, smoke a lot, sleep. ah, good times.

i have a cobras mp3 or two - are they any good live?
Posted by guy_parsons, 23:12, 20th February 2003:

like i say, i would be able to answer that question, if all my friends had not wussed out and decided to leg it back to glamarous basingstoke. anyway, here is what artrocker had to say about the whole thing:

The performance we were served up gives rock'n'roll a bad name in my mind.
Delia points out that they are (in her opinion) "just a really good party band".
Sadly on Saturday, they gave NO-ONE a good party because they had a sour and
bored attitude as obvious as their influences.
I thought their 'raison d'etre' was to discover lost soul gems and
re-present them to those of us unaware of the classic originals. I can only
hope that said originals were played with somewhat more panache, attitude
and most of all SOUL , than was displayed on this ocassion. I hope they
themselves feel it was a poor, poor show.

So hey, I feel a little better about missing it now :o)

PS. Donnie, my sarcasm meter just exploded in a ball of fire...
