Yep

ah, good..

So your thoughts on the upcoming 'battle of Britain'?
Posted by Victor Menendez, 09:06, 28th February 2003:

Too close to call, earlier in the season Blackburn played Celtic off the park in glasgow and still lost, Celtic are a hard team to beat these days.
Posted by RUSS, 09:20, 28th February 2003:

i hope celtic win cause Liverpool are the most boring team i have seen this season and were last, they are just awful for an unlinked observer, last night thay had the chance to attack on numerouss occasions and the ball ended up back with dudek!!!
they really get on my wick!
Posted by beargod, 09:33, 28th February 2003:

I still think Bradford will be in the English Premiership next season, even though they can't afford to pay their players and didn't do too well this season.
Posted by Victor Menendez, 09:37, 28th February 2003:

you mean the season after next then.
Posted by ilovebeerme, 09:40, 28th February 2003:

Gwon the hoops.
Posted by beargod, 09:46, 28th February 2003:

No, next season, after loosing 7 matches in a row, we have found it hard to loose, except to Brighton, But i am Jinxing them now so I should shut up
Posted by RUSS, 09:47, 28th February 2003:

COME ON YOU IRONS!
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 09:53, 28th February 2003:

Well i think that Celtic can take Liverpool, obviously we will have them at Glasgow, hopefully scrape a draw at Anfield..but yeah, we shall beat another english premier team. And they say that Celtic wouldnt do well in the premiership...bah!
Posted by Victor Menendez, 10:04, 28th February 2003:

your not getting promoted this season, hence you will not be in the premiership next season, if you get promoted next season, you will be in the premiership the season after.
Posted by beargod, 10:11, 28th February 2003:

Oh ok, sorry I did mean promoted next season sorry, I have always had a soft spot for Liverpool, but at the moment they need a decent striker, Owen isn't as good as he is made out to be, and they don't have a decent person to set up a goal, so yes Celtic have a very good Chance of beating the crap out of them
Posted by arsepuppy, 10:18, 28th February 2003:

Owen's a Judas!
Posted by Victor Menendez, 10:20, 28th February 2003:

Yes but scottish football has a way of making average players look good, for every henrik larssen you have a:

Alan Thompson = Average at Bolton and Villa
Chris Sutton = Not bad at Blackburn with Shearer, Embarrassing at Chelsea
John Hartson = Had a decent game for wimbledon in 1994
Posted by Victor Menendez, 10:20, 28th February 2003:

Also Michael Owen has always been a one-trick pony with a left foot only good for standing on and now he looks to have lost the pace that set him apart.
Posted by arsepuppy, 10:23, 28th February 2003:

That's what you get when you play for England when you are in fact Welsh. String 'im up!
Posted by arsepuppy, 10:23, 28th February 2003:

Leave off Hartson!
Posted by beargod, 10:24, 28th February 2003:

True, But i have never liked the Scottish Premiership, too small (so's the English now though), and very unlikely for a team outside of Glasgow to win the league,(Damn the English premiership is getting like that). Long live the Conference
Posted by Victor Menendez, 10:29, 28th February 2003:

I dont think a team from glasgow is going to dominate the english premiership
Posted by beargod, 10:39, 28th February 2003:

Ha, I meant Man u and Arsenal are dominating it like The Scottish league, but i did hear once that a couple of teams from scotland wanted to join the English Premier league.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 10:43, 28th February 2003:

There is talk of both Rangers and Celtic joining the premiership...that will never ever happen though.

Vic, no we wouldnt dominate..not straight away, but after a few seasons who knows.
Posted by RUSS, 10:46, 28th February 2003:

there is a a scottish fella in my office who is a celtic fan and talks nearly every day of them joining the premiership, and every day i tell him if it ever happens i'll eat my hat, so i shall say the same to you.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 10:47, 28th February 2003:

I agree..it will never ever happen, and i am a Celtic fan.

.
Posted by beargod, 10:48, 28th February 2003:

RUSS do you actually have a hat,

I wouldn't be surprised if it di happen there are a couple of Welsh teams in the league, but they are crap, the Welsh have a reasonable League aswell

Celtic and Rangers will eventually be playing in England, that i can guarantee you. Money is all that matters to British domestic football these days and money will talk here.

1. Celtic v Rangers is the highest grossing domestic fixture on TV. Sky did it on pay-per-view a couple of years ago and it grossed nearly £18M for one game.

2. Celtic and Rangers have massive supports in Scotland and outwith Scotland.

3. Sky hold all the cards when it comes to negotiation and they realise the commercial benefit of the old firm in England.

I expect they wouldn't be 'parachuted' into the Premiership becuse every team in the premiership would object to it. But I can guarantee that the 1st Dvision in England (the most comeptitve league in Britain) would take the old firm no problems. Espcially when Sky will base their negotiation around that happening.

Another thing might potentially be happening is that the European Union is considering forcing the Premiership and Nationwide Leagues to allow terestrial stations (ie. BBC and ITV) to air at least 20 games a season free of charge. The whole reason Sky paid £1bn for the Premiership rights was that they had exclusivity. If the Premiership are forced by the EU to give games to the BBC and ITV then I would think Sky would offer about 25-30% of what the paid the last time round. With such a massive drop in income, it stand to reason that clubs will then be a lot more willing to talk about the Old Firm playing in their league.

I apologise for the severe lack of spelling skills but I hve a really bad shoulder injury and reaching for the delete key is a step too far.

Homer is my philosophy on Life, I would never forget a cool tune like that,

it won't happen

Everton and Manchester City will eventually be playing in China, that i can guarantee you. Communism is all that matters to Chinas domestic controllers and football is the new opiate of the masses.

1. Everton V Manchester City was the most watched Premiership game ever, an estimated 350 million people tuned in to watch.

2. Everton and Manchester City have massive support in China and out of china (England)

3. Bejing hold all the cards when it comes to negotiation as there are nearly a billion of dem chinese and if we dont give them what they want they will come for us whilst at the same time stopping us from eating Chicken fried rice and crispy shredded chilli beef.

I Expect they wouldn't be 'parachuted into the Chinese league because the tianamen faithfull might object but lets face it, they aint gonna have no problems beating the chinese 2'nd division teams/

Another thing that might potentially be happening is that the United Nations security council will seek to divert attention from the war on iraq by raising the level of debate in pubs around the country about how likely it is that keegan will crack again and that david moyes is one of the living dead.
Posted by beargod, 11:20, 28th February 2003:

Dude that is so funny and probably true, but then half of Liverpool and most of mancheter will have to move to China the, and China is too full as it is
Posted by Victor Menendez, 11:24, 28th February 2003:

Damn, how will we live without half of liverpool and half of manchester (Not my half)
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 11:26, 28th February 2003:

It is bad, cos we have to pay for them to live here whilst they sit around and do nothing, and sleep with our women
Posted by RUSS, 12:00, 28th February 2003:

i'm not sure about the sleep with women part, what self respecting woman would sleep with a kosy, iraqi or albanian?

Rosie~

You're welcome.

I follow football ... but what we call football is much different from you guys.
Posted by beargod, 14:32, 28th February 2003:

yeah what you call football is really rugby, with protection and slightly different rules
Posted by chandler, 14:33, 28th February 2003:

American Football is Rugby for wimps.
Posted by beargod, 14:34, 28th February 2003:

the rules make it easier then ruggers
Posted by November Eclectica, 14:37, 28th February 2003:

Rugby and Football are very different sports here. We have Rugby and Football.

Rugby is more contact and not much protection at all. My friend was on the rugby team and he used to come home black and blue.

Football they wear gear to protect them.
Posted by beargod, 14:40, 28th February 2003:

But ruggers is a true sport, American Fottball(as it is called here) is for panzies
Posted by RUSS, 14:42, 28th February 2003:

i dont understand how it can be called football, when the ball is hardly kicked?
it is like calling soccer handball because the goalkeeper occasionaly handles it
Posted by beargod, 14:46, 28th February 2003:

its cos, in my opinion, Football(soccer) was called football first and the Americans got jeleous of it being so popular they tried to take over the name and play rugby, much like they play netball(basketball) and rounders(Baseball)
Posted by Victor Menendez, 14:47, 28th February 2003:
