I have just installed Apache and PHP and MYSQL among other things. After abttling with Apache for about 2 days I have managed to get it reading and showing PHP files... BUT... for some reason, it's not using ANY predifined variables ie.
$file_name
$file_size
$file_type or even
$file...
I just keep getting undefined variable messgaes.
Any thoughts?

earthworm: you fon't have register_globals turned in (off by default these days). use $_FILES instead ( read this:
uk2.php.net/manual/en/features.file-uplo... )
sul: to alert you to the fact, so you can either selotape the tab or find another tape
Thanks Cal... I thought someone here should know. I'll try not to ask technical questions again...

indeed, so obvious you didnt think of it!
neither did I! :)
Why is PHP so hard to install on Apache? I'm still getting a parse error when trying to connect to MySQL but I can't find any help on the web. There doesn't seem to be any plain speaking support...

earthworm,
Check out Cal's Choose your own adventure game. It is a really easy to setup. It is a working example on how to use MySQL and PHP. He has the code online at:
http://www.iamcal.com/games/choose/source.php
I also want to recommend the PHPMyAdmin - this thing really makes using MySQL easier.

jeffld
if your sure, i will send you an email...
thanks cal...
jeffld, I will do that...
