I'm making one of my first usefull php apps (normally im just a html monkey).
Basically, it's a modification of a php addressbook I found somewhere with some extra features.
here is what it currently does:
Can take the following fields: Name, Address, Phone Numbers (work, home, mobile), email, secondary email, birthday, and extra notes.
With that info, you can search though it, display all, and display a-z - you can see who has birthdays in a selected month.
I've also got a few php cron scripts that send out emails on someones birthdays, and email you a month in advance on birthdays for the upcoming month.
you can also save a contact as a vcard, and export all details as a CSV.
Now im stuck - What features would you like in an addressbook? The only other thing I can think of at the moment is to have a calender with the birthdays on it - but im not sure how i can make that one. Maybe a bulk emailer - im also working on a script that will email everyone with the details I have on record and ask them to send an email with an update - I could let them update it themselves, but there's a security risk that it's all done via ids, maybe i could make a public one that does it by id AND email address, as people are not gonna guess that.
Any thoughts?

james:
* generate a unique uid for each person that's nice and long
* send them a url with the uid in that lets them update their contact details
* add kittens

Cheers cal - great idea - i ended up doing a muliplication of the id of a high number, so it's not easily worked out.
Oh, and i've added a kitten.

Argh - does anyone know how I can get this page to only display the edit page if an ID is correct?
here's what I have now
Address book updated.\n";
}
else if($uid)
{
$result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM $table WHERE uid=$uid",$db);
$myrow = mysql_fetch_array($result);
?>
If I have ?uid= (with no number there) - it displays correctly, however if I have ?uid=111111111111111111 - which is not a valid one, it still shows the form.
Any ideas?

if (($uid / $bignum) = floor($uid / $bignum)){
i.e. check to see if the id is divisible by your big number
