you might want to check for a topic name existing, e.g.:

www.thegrahamsonline.co.uk/grimforum5/gr...

try something like this:

$topic_name = ($topic_name)?htmlentities($topic_name):'<i>no topic</i>';

Cal, if I use this:

$postthis = preg_replace("/(([\w\.]+))(@)([\w\.]+)\b/i","<a href=\"mailto:$0\">$0</a>",$postthis);

to parse email addresses, how do I make it not parse the email address if it has

mailto:

in front of it?

Preg_replace is stupid complicated =[

try something like this:

$postthis = preg_replace("/(^|[^:])((([\w\.]+))(@)([\w\.]+))\b/i","$1<a href=\"mailto:$2\">$2</a>",$postthis);

My 1 year and half nephew wrote the exact same thing the other day while I had him on my lap. I thought he was stretching for my beer. Little did I know he was doing regexps. Kids are so bright these days. :)
