Work sucks ass. Not just this particular job but work in general. I don't need this sort of hassle. If I won the lottery I'd never work another day in my life and wouldn't be bored. I'd but go-carts and fit them with paintball guns and play real life MAriokart. Thats what i'd fricken well do.

Fuck monday it's a tiny little bastard!
Posted by Victor Menendez, 09:16, 28th April 2003:

yeah, fuck monday. right in the ear.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 09:42, 28th April 2003:

Mondays are shit! Work is Shit..

But on a lighter note...

Celtic won on Sunday! Yeah!
Posted by ilovebeerme, 09:53, 28th April 2003:

Yeah that was pretty good. Mondays still suck ass though. ROARRRRRRRRR!
Posted by Sul, 11:34, 28th April 2003:

I'm bunking off work, HALLA!

The wind is up so I'm going to fly a kite later... seriously. I like kites. They're far better than Monday.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 11:37, 28th April 2003:

I thought you were jusr back at work last week?
Posted by Sul, 11:38, 28th April 2003:

pretty much. Even I'd have sacked me by now.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 11:53, 28th April 2003:

oh, you dont want to get the sack!
Posted by Sul, 11:56, 28th April 2003:

I couldnt care less. I'm too lazy to look for a job I like so getting the sack could be a blessing.
Posted by ilovebeerme, 12:17, 28th April 2003:

Flying a kite would be great! Jealous as hell :(
Posted by chandler, 12:20, 28th April 2003:

let's go fly a kite, up to the highest height
let's go fly a kite, and send it soaring
up through the stratosphere, up where the air is clear,
oooh lets gooooooo, fly a kite
Posted by November Eclectica, 12:55, 28th April 2003:

I concur, Monday's suck. I however enjoy having a job that pays well, so I don't have to worry about my bills, rent etc. I just got some new fish for my tank and did some shopping. Without a job I could not afford to buy things that I like and that includes beer.
Posted by chandler, 12:58, 28th April 2003:

I'm having a really good Monday :)

is there something wrong with me :(
Posted by Victor Menendez, 13:02, 28th April 2003:

I am having a particularly bad monday, have you stolen some of my cosmic karma?
Posted by chandler, 13:05, 28th April 2003:

i think i must have Vic, cos i'm very chipper today, despite going to the dentist on Saturday. and i only got about 4 hours sleep last night.

I will probably keel over at about 3pm
Posted by ilovebeerme, 13:07, 28th April 2003:

That is a good point November. However it does overlook the fact that I should be paid a vast amount simply for being great. The world is so messed up. ;)
Posted by beargod, 13:07, 28th April 2003:

My Monday Is not so bad, I mean I have discovered three peoples computers that have dialups and they are not working, which I will try my best to help them connect and doubt I will pay for.

Someone Is trying to print loads of stuff and the printer keeps messing around, and I have to program something I am getting really bored and pissed off with now

But Monday is good really :(
Posted by plindoe, 13:15, 28th April 2003:

Monday is good today, which is strange. Went bowling last night pissed out of my head, so that might explain why doing nowt on monday is good!
Posted by Victor Menendez, 13:53, 28th April 2003:

My monday is degenerating rapidly, the only way it can get worse is if i get sacked.

still, on the plus side,i just got offered another job so options are available.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 13:59, 28th April 2003:

My Monday is shit! I am so tired i could fall asleep right now. Plus i have interest in working today at all, which isnt making my boss happy.

I'm feeling a mix of tiredness and queasiness. I've been asked to do a Flash animation of the sun's UV rays penetrating the Earth's atmosphere, but I simply cannot be arsed to do a thing. Oh dear.
Posted by Victor Menendez, 14:20, 28th April 2003:

is that a flash animation showing increased growth and lots of species thriving on the increased UV light, or the usual environmental propaganda?
Posted by arsepuppy, 14:23, 28th April 2003:

Nah, more of an educational scientific thing, demonstrating how the UV intensity increases around the equator due to a more direct flow of light. And all that shit.
Posted by arsepuppy, 14:25, 28th April 2003:

Also have to do animations depicting the relationship between altitude and UVR.
Posted by Victor Menendez, 14:28, 28th April 2003:

so, uv intensity increases the closer you are to the sun?
Posted by arsepuppy, 14:52, 28th April 2003:

yup. surprisingly.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 14:57, 28th April 2003:

Mondays aren't that bad.... I just got up :)
Posted by beargod, 15:04, 28th April 2003:

Chris I loath you
Posted by Victor Menendez, 15:06, 28th April 2003:

I think you are missing the point somewhat, if its an 'educational' film, who is it supposed to educate? who doesn't already grasp this none too difficult point?

Chris, I have no strong feelings for you either way.
Posted by arsepuppy, 15:27, 28th April 2003:

Well the animation itself serves to complement statistical data covering UV figures and how they vary depending on time of year, location, cloud cover, etc., based on data gathered by UV readers worldwide and also data gathered by the World Health organization. It's all pretty much aimed at kids, though. But even though it's a common sense scenario, there are somwe stupid shmucks out there who may not know these things.
Posted by arsepuppy, 15:30, 28th April 2003:

And the animation also serves to demonstrate exactly what UV index is achieved at certain areas, for example, Iceland (the country, you fuckers!) will have a low index, around 1 or 2, represented in green by the WHO. Kenya, or somewhere like that will be a 10 or 11+ (red and purple respectively). In the UK, 5 (yellow) is probably a good guess.
Posted by Sul, 15:32, 28th April 2003:

I have not flown my kite yet but I am however naked. You cant do that at work. Well, nowhere we work. Maybe Miki can, they are pretty easy going about nudity in Holland after all.

I live on top of a hill, I'm very worried about my UV protection now.
Posted by chris, 15:33, 28th April 2003:

beargod, does this mean you didnt like the wedding plans?

Vic, i love you man.

Thats to do with albedo effect as well as atmospheric though. Don't forget the suprising results produced by aboreal forest regions and the increase due to the earth being an oblate spheroid ;)

And kids aren't gonna be interested in th albedo effect, they just want pretty pictures and stuff. Unless they're from the home counties of course. ;)

Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 10:41, 29th April 2003:

haha I dont usually laugh at friends that much but that did make me laugh
Posted by chandler, 10:42, 29th April 2003:

there is the occassional gem in there. but its certainly past the peak of its success
Posted by beargod, 10:48, 29th April 2003:

If its so far passed its peak why do they pay them a million an episode?
Posted by chandler, 10:50, 29th April 2003:

ok then its past its comedy peak. its not as funny as it was.
Posted by chandler, 10:51, 29th April 2003:

they were paying frasier guy some ridiculous sum of momney too and that series went way down hill for a while. though it is better again now
Posted by beargod, 10:57, 29th April 2003:

I hated frasier up until recently, they arn't worth the money half the time
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 10:57, 29th April 2003:

Courtney 'Arquette' Cox looks great though
Posted by arsepuppy, 10:59, 29th April 2003:

Never got into Frasier. Ditto Seinfeld.
Posted by beargod, 10:59, 29th April 2003:

I think the looks have jumped between Jennifer and courtney, all the way through them and it is courtneys turn now
Posted by beargod, 11:00, 29th April 2003:

I never liked the look of Seinfeld supposed to be a prize winning comedy i laughed at non of it
Posted by chandler, 11:00, 29th April 2003:

i only discovered seinfeld towards the end. it was Kraymer (or however you spell it) that made that show really funny.
Posted by arsepuppy, 11:03, 29th April 2003:

Didn't you ever feel that Kramer's persona was a bit forced though?
Posted by chandler, 11:06, 29th April 2003:

no more forced than some of chandlers stuff in friends.

Kraymer was the man! never thought jerry was very funny though, or the fat guy who is the voice of Duckman
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 11:11, 29th April 2003:

Chandler does my nut in! Just not that funny any longer. (Friends Chandler that is)
Posted by ilovebeerme, 11:11, 29th April 2003:

Frasier is still good after a hundred years or whatever. Never watched much seinfeld
Posted by chandler, 11:13, 29th April 2003:

fl: :)
ilbm: i do like frasier again but there was a bit of a dip for few episodes when i even considered not bothering any more. but it did get back on form again
Posted by Victor Menendez, 11:24, 29th April 2003:

I've said it before and i'll say it again, the more they pay them, the less they try.
Posted by arsepuppy, 11:24, 29th April 2003:

Duckman I used to like.
Posted by arsepuppy, 11:25, 29th April 2003:

that compulsive eating angle in frasier was fuckin' awful.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 11:27, 29th April 2003:

Vic, just like everyday work then?
Posted by chandler, 11:28, 29th April 2003:

I only discovered Duck-man in the last couple of years. I downloaded loads of them from the net. but dont know if you remember that cliff hanger one where they are at the wedding and then duckman's wife walks in (who we all thought was dead) and then it ended.

was there another part to that episode (think it was ep 70) or did the series get canned then?
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 11:29, 29th April 2003:

Duck man? Eh?
Posted by beargod, 11:30, 29th April 2003:

I hated Duckman it was so boring, that was like seinfeld unfunny
Posted by chandler, 11:31, 29th April 2003:

duck-man is a quality series, beargod doesnt like it but i thought it was great.

he was a private dick and had a parner pig called cornfed. it was quite dark and surreal
his son Ajax was mentally deficient and his other sons Mambo and Charles were siamese twins, they had two heads and necks but shared a body! it was great.

and he'd say things like "I havent had this much sex since open day at the morgue"

actually he might have said "this much fun" i cant remember.
Posted by beargod, 11:33, 29th April 2003:

Yes i did say unfunny didn't I
Posted by Victor Menendez, 11:35, 29th April 2003:

Foggy, i was talking about me.
Posted by chandler, 11:36, 29th April 2003:

its very witty, and nothing like seinfeld. beargod doesnt like it cos he's scum :D
Posted by beargod, 11:39, 29th April 2003:

Plus I have seen it, chay said it was brilliant so I downloaded a couple of episodes, we just sat there in complete bordom, no sound of laughter, just sitting there bored waiting, hoping that the last 20 mins havn't been wasted hoping something funny would happen, but it never did
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 11:41, 29th April 2003:

ah, so it was 'them' as in 'Me'?
Posted by arsepuppy, 11:45, 29th April 2003:

Dunno why you thought it was boring, it is quite dark though, which gives the feeling of a slower pace than usual. Very early 90's though.

Did it ever take off here? I remember Sky One showing it back in '93 and Paramount repeating it more recently but I don't ever recall it being shown on terrestial TV.
Posted by beargod, 11:49, 29th April 2003:

I don't think it was on terrestrial, because it wasn't good enough to be bought up
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 11:49, 29th April 2003:

I remember it from somewhere but i can put my finger on where.
Posted by chandler, 11:50, 29th April 2003:

i only found it online after it was mentioned in one of our animation lectures.

i remember thinking wow i'd love to do a series like this one.
Posted by chandler, 11:51, 29th April 2003:

one of his catch phrases was

"What the hell are YOU looking at"

:)
Posted by arsepuppy, 11:51, 29th April 2003:

It was done by Klasky-Csupo wasn't it?
Posted by arsepuppy, 11:52, 29th April 2003:

But Chay, if you did a series it'd be about bloody raccoon things and sodding mermaids.
Posted by beargod, 11:57, 29th April 2003:

maybe it was funny in a way that was invented for duckman and died with him and never really caught on much. I like my comedys like Blackadder and the Young ones, "classic" Funny, not "Dumb" "Funny"
Posted by chandler, 12:10, 29th April 2003:

yeah it was Klasky-Csupo.

titles were good too

and the evil King Chicken who was Duckmans arch nemesis. he was a fat chicken with an elvis quiff going on
Posted by beargod, 12:17, 29th April 2003:

titles were good too

That is the funniest thing about duckman :(
Posted by arsepuppy, 12:28, 29th April 2003:

Wouldn't have said it was dumb at all. It could be quite witty, dry, and darkly surreal. And as much as I like the Young Ones, you could say it falls under the banner of "dumb funny".

Visually it was good too. Although very much a product of its time, it had it's own sense of atmosphere which is quite unusual in animation (a few other minor series of this period acheived this though, like Tim Burton's "Family Dog", which bombed terribly). The humour had the whole Yiddish undertones as well, which wins it a few points (Klasky-Csupo took this a bit further with Rugrats though, despite it being made primarily for kids).
Posted by arsepuppy, 12:31, 29th April 2003:

There was even a bit of a Ralph Bakshi feel to it....

/coat

Arsepuppy seems to have turned into Chandler
Posted by chandler, 12:34, 29th April 2003:

nice one arsepuppy.
Posted by chandler, 12:36, 29th April 2003:

i do like things that have a unified style to them. its like bands that have a good unique sound, like the White Stripes or Venus Hum or Garbage.
Posted by chandler, 12:41, 29th April 2003:

or like Bill Plympton's animation stuff, you know it's his as soon as you see one drawing.
Posted by beargod, 12:41, 29th April 2003:

It had good animation and drawings agreed, I think i found the lack of humour more annoying after chay had made it sound really funny
Posted by arsepuppy, 12:43, 29th April 2003:

Although you could argue that the White Stripes and Garbage aren't at all unique, but have achieved more exposure than others doing the same thing.

The only reason that the WS have done so well, when there are apparently other bands out there doing the same thing (albeit unnoticed), is purely clever marketing and gimmickry. And you could argue that Garbage would still be merely a side project from Shirley's "normal" band Goodbye Mr Mackenzie had it not been for the attention gathered by the whole Butch Vig connection.
Posted by chandler, 12:51, 29th April 2003:

you could argue that :)
i just prefer to listen to them

actually it is really just shirley that i meant when i said "garbage" :D
Posted by beargod, 12:59, 29th April 2003:

titles were good too

That is the funniest thing about duckman :(

CHAY EVEN IF YOU DID CHANGE THE WE TO WERE, IT IS STILL THE FUNNIEST THING ABOUT DUCKMAN

The neighbor dropped in on a friend and found her sitting at the kitchen table, staring blankly at a half-empty cup of coffee; her three kids squabbling loudly in the other room.

"What's wrong Marge ?" she asked.

Marge told her that she had "morning sickness."

Surprised, the neighbor said, "I didn't even know you were pregnant!"

"I'm not." the harried young woman replied. "I'm just sick of mornings."

I've still got my school tie somewhere but thats about it!

I can't believe that load of bollox film was on again last night. "Outbreak" must have been on about 5 million times now. I think I need to get Sky or cable. I can't stand much more of "The worlds funniest animals" or crappy old films.

PS: My new boss has pinched my hole punch. What should I do?

pinch him back with a stable gun

I find the timing of ITV showing 'outbreak' highly suspicious regarding world events. "how can we keep stupid people from panicking over the SARS virus? i know, we'll show Outbreak" whats next? 'The Stand'?

Hmm, tie. i think i can think of something to do with that.

Kick your new bosses arse.

yeah, go out, play on the swings, smoke a woodbine (but don't inhale) drink an alcopop (or two if you can handle the 'high') and then get called in for tea by mum, rock on!
