i have a new kitten and she doesn't have a name, it's really difficult to choose a name that i will be comfortable to have shouted out in a vets waiting room, has anyone got any cool pet names?
Posted by angel_mouse, 23:29, 11th May 2003:

what colour is she?

she should have a name AND a title, par example *Kitten*, Cat of *Iamcal.com*

I think last time we did this 'Marvin' was the name of choice.

Posted by chandler, 00:12, 12th May 2003:

oh yeah, you cant call it that anyway cos Pickle J Racoon is a boys name!
Posted by Redmaiden, 00:15, 12th May 2003:

call her Mildred
Posted by Sul, 00:18, 12th May 2003:

"Pickle J Racoon" was a name that came partly from my dead cat. I feel sickend by your lack of respect by naming other pussies by the same name. I'm off to bed now.

See what I told you Donnie?

my goldfish was called fluffy - you could do the opersite thing and call your kitten "slime"
Posted by cal, 08:10, 12th May 2003:

call it "fish"
Posted by jlittle, 08:37, 12th May 2003:

or call it "kitty"
Posted by jlittle, 08:38, 12th May 2003:

If I had a cat i'd call it bob
Posted by chandler, 09:06, 12th May 2003:

bob is such a dull unimaginative computer geek sort of a name to call stuff.
Posted by chandler, 09:07, 12th May 2003:

kitten would be best, then when its older you can call it "cat"
Posted by cal, 09:09, 12th May 2003:

call it "pony"
Posted by cal, 09:09, 12th May 2003:

you have to admit that computer types do seem to have a bizarre preoccupation with the name bob. i mean what is that? it's not like its cool or funny
Posted by beargod, 09:27, 12th May 2003:

no its kate
Posted by beargod, 09:28, 12th May 2003:

call it "Road kill" and tempt fate
Posted by chandler, 09:28, 12th May 2003:

Posted by jlittle, 09:29, 12th May 2003:

I know plenty of non-computer people that like the name bob. it's because it's a cool name - lots of cool people are called bob.
Posted by chandler, 09:31, 12th May 2003:

yeah but why is it that whenever anyone suggests naming anything someone always suggests bob. get over it people. ;)
Posted by cal, 09:38, 12th May 2003:

why should we?

that's such a dumb thing to say

chay's "get over it people"
Posted by Victor Menendez, 09:42, 12th May 2003:

I have an uncle called bob.
Posted by chandler, 09:45, 12th May 2003:

i didnt say there was anything wrong with people called bob, just that i had noticed a trend online for people wanting to call things "bob". I wondered why this was.
Posted by chandler, 09:47, 12th May 2003:

and now cos it is used so very much online everytime someone suggests the name "bob" for something, my brain flashes up the message "imagination bypass". im not saying thats always a fair assessment, but i would kinda like to get to the bottom of this bizarre "wanting to name things bob" obsession.

maybe i think too much
:S
Posted by cal, 09:53, 12th May 2003:

why should all naming have to be imaginative?
Posted by chandler, 09:55, 12th May 2003:

it doesnt have to be but if people are asking for names for a kitten then they probably want something imaginative. but please tell me someone else has noticed this bob obsession
Posted by Victor Menendez, 09:55, 12th May 2003:

I would have thought someone as imaginatively title as yourself would seek refuge in mundane names.
Posted by beargod, 09:57, 12th May 2003:

its cos it is a suggestion and an easy one to think of
Posted by chandler, 09:57, 12th May 2003:

vicky :D heehee
Posted by chandler, 09:59, 12th May 2003:

why would i want to seek refuge in Mundanityville: "saftey in blandness" (home of the imagination bypass your gateway to a world of dull) ?
Posted by arsepuppy, 10:01, 12th May 2003:

I think "Bob" is a cool name. As is "Dave".

Imaginative naming sucks and is best left to people who think naming their budgie after someone out of Blake's 7 is going to make them the coolest person in their Social Skills class.
Posted by chandler, 10:04, 12th May 2003:

silly me, and i was thinking that naming a pet "bob" singled you out as someone who speaks 5 languages, all of them computer related
Posted by chandler, 10:05, 12th May 2003:

annoyingly i cant search for the word bob on this forum cos cal's coding isnt good enough

;)

(thats a big wink btw)
Posted by chandler, 10:07, 12th May 2003:

im sorry everyone, i just have a preoccupation with people who have a preoccupation with calling things bob.

i shall keep going to the therapy and hope to be reintergrated into society soon.

see i can say sorry, though im not very good at it. my shrink will be pleased with my progress
Posted by jlittle, 10:09, 12th May 2003:

If you are going to moan about people's code, then can we moan about you?
Posted by chandler, 10:11, 12th May 2003:

no, cos i wasnt moaning about his code.
;) see this smiley thing means i was only kidding.
Posted by Sul, 10:27, 12th May 2003:

I called my goldfish 1 and 0. I thought that was super cool. Apparently it's not though. Next time I'm going to call them Bob1 and Bob0.

Posted by chandler, 10:35, 12th May 2003:

you'll have to make sure people dont think they are called Bobi and Bobo though
cos that aint so cool. they sound like a pair of clowns
Posted by Sul, 10:40, 12th May 2003:

Goldfish clowns :(

I'd be too scared theyd throw their bowl at me and it'll turn out that all this time theyd been swimming in confetti.

And the'd climb up a really big ladder and dive into thimbles full of water.

Let me clear this up:

I call things Bob because of the Blackadder reference - Chay you must remember that..? Maybe there's alot of Blackadder fans on the net.

Saying Bob like they said in Blackadder cracks me up (oh how simple I am)
Posted by chandler, 19:18, 12th May 2003:

yes i remember the whole bob/kate thing.
i just get tired of it online all the time every day 24/7 bob aggggggghh

She is called Kate then changes her name to bob
Posted by Redmaiden, 23:38, 12th May 2003:

well Susan is mentioned somewhere
Posted by chandler, 23:45, 12th May 2003:

its used in more than one series

in Blackadder Second it is Kate and Bob.
in Blackadder goes forth it is Susan and Bob

so everyone is right
Posted by chandler, 23:48, 12th May 2003:
