I've read it all, and it makes stuff all sense =[
Nothing's bloody happening, the gay has no hands but can hold a gun, etc, etc...

I thought he had only one hand?

No hands - he had to knock with his head...

So he's inconsistent. Zombies by their very nature are inconsistent

he *does* have hands:
"The calluses that had grown from the wear of walking 1300 miles on his hands had left him with grapefruit-sized, swollen hands"

Surely, if he can't knock on a door, he would struggle to hold, and, one presumes, fire a gun?
Posted by
cal, 16:40, 14th May 2003:
ha! you would
presume that...

Wow! I'm a published 'Unfortunate Tale' author on iamcal.com..
You didn't have to use my full name though, greeny would have done ;)

Yeah, you would.

While I think about it, can I repeat my request for quote buttons on this site? You could do it with javascript, so you click the quote button and the required text inserts itself into the text box, maybe...

yeah cos i can never be bothered to type the div tag quote things and i mess them up first time

I once petitioned for a quote function, but Cal had a reason not to - think it was something to do with 'reading the same stuff over and over', or something.

cal, 17:18, 14th May 2003:
i was thinking about it. but we shall see
Posted by
cal, 17:25, 14th May 2003:
grim: that's the reason, yeah. we don't often quote here.
in the case of this very message, with a quote function i might have quoted your whole message, instead of just doing a "grim:". makes it VERY hard to read things

cal, 17:25, 14th May 2003:
(there's reason to this madness, you know)

Not if it went:

Then I could cut out the bits I don't need:

you might. but you might not. and others certainly wouldn't.
i have quite a few years experience of this sort of thing and did a degree specialising in it. despite appearances, this isn't all just guess work ;)

So only let 1000+ posters use it =]

Hang on - you did a degree in Forum Quoting?
=]

Software Engineering with Online Communities
so stop trying to be clever. i don't want people quoting other posts. it's a bad feature. it makes for hard to read forums.
if you're desperate to use quotes, you can type the few characters in yourself. if you don't know how, there's
a page explaining.

Grim..., 10:14, 15th May 2003:
Perhaps you should have gone for Etiquette with Online Communities =]
Perhaps I should have added that smilie earlier...
I wansn't suggesting a big ol' white box, just some text. That box looks fine for code, but just damned wrong for quotes.
Ooh, here a good idea - user could drag-select the text they want to quote, and then the quote button will insert everything they have quoted into the text box.

I don't think he's going to let it lie ;)
Posted by
cal, 10:42, 15th May 2003:
it's not a good idea at all. the reason it's not a feature here is because i don't want it. you also wont find the mass of other "features" you get on many messageboards. because they're usually not a good idea either.

Speaking (as Cal and I were ealier) about Specialised degrees, did anyone listen to Radio 1 (Sara Cox's show) when they were doing the Matrix competition?
They had a girl in the final who was doing a degree in The Matrix.
How do you go about doing a degree in The Matrix?
It was blatently unfair - they were going for 'closest guess wins' and she was hitting figures spot on!
I didn't hear the final; does anybody know if she won?
I think she won a red pill.

Do you think she had a tutor?
How do you tutor / mark someone who does the first degree of it's kind?
