Down here , poker machines can be good to you like a new lover..... but after a while they treat you with contempt like an ex girlfriend!

is it that you hate fruit machines or that fruit machines hate you?

either way, you probably should be made to play together anymore.

I've never got into fruit machines but when in Oz, I was addicted to the 'poker machines' that t.m mentions.

Worst day: Lost $800 (300 quid)
Best day: Won $917 (Just over 300 quid)

This could have been over a four hour period.

i like those oxo machines but i don't really understand the gamblers with all the flashing lights, an ex-boyf of mine actually took out loans to pay for his addiction, so i tend to keep away!

I too hate fruit machines. I worked for ladbrokes for 3 years when I was studying - utterly grim. The slots take so much money - I remember one shop's took about 40,000 a year (it had 2 or 3 machines if I remember rightly) and we used to get them changed every month or two or something because they'd get worn out with all the use!
It's very depressing seeing people spend all day changing their 20s into coins, stare at the lights and then change the coins back, then repeat the whole process. I used to think things like 'please go home and spend some time with your family' and 'buy your wife some flowers', and the odds are just against you - the machine will win! I think at least if you're betting on dogs or horses at least dogs and horses and football and rugby players don't contain chips that tell them when to let you win.

I've never had a gambling addiction, it just doesn't hold any fascination with me. I have been frittering away my money on cigs for years though but I'm such a good girlie at the mo

P.S. Nicotine gum is rank

Redmaiden - I am in total agreement with you there.
and yes Grim, I know what you've been doing, and I have photographic evidence. So watch your step.
