Yep. I got myself a brand new set of golf clubs. They aren't top of the line, but they are better than the second hand used set that I was using. I got a nice off the shelf set. I really like the Titanium driver with graphite shaft. I went to the range the same day I bought them and was able to get 175 yards out of it! Some day maybe I'll get custom fit clubs.. when I win the lotto maybe. I can't afford that on my salary...
Sarah and I bought a house...
and some paint and things...

How come you speak French, Redmaiden, when, from the official British point of view, the French are some kind of bastards who let you battle it out on your own against the Iraquis and the Americans at the same time ...?

We are made to learn french at school because it is the second most widely used language in this world, I would much prefer to have learnt German I enjoyed it when I was.
Actually, it's the third most spoken.
1. Mandarin
2. English
3. French
However, French and English are spoken in more countries, and by default are "widely used", but Mandarin is spoken by the most people.
/geek
I thought Spanish was the most widely spoken?
Sorry FL but I'm still in 34-36 territory the length is ok i think.
Spanish may be 4th. Deffo not top 3 but very much widely spoken.

I don't understand that, how can Chinese be the most widely spocken language when it is only spoken in one country, same with Russian.
why do my arrow buttons not work?
Cause their populations are immense. Portuguese is spoken in Brazil whichis the 4rth or 5th largest country and yet its still only 20% of China's population.

Yep but widely spread languages means how many different languages it is spoken in not how many people speakes it.
But in a way, "widely spoken" means the amount of people that speaks it, it's not a literal phrase. The "wide" is meant numerically rather than geographically.
"widely spread" is a different matter, although it can be a moot point if, for example, there was a speaker of Catalan in every country in the world, would this make Catalan (a minority language by comparison) a contender for "most widely spoken"?

but why use widely, if you want to know how many people speak that languge ask how many people speak that language, but then again thinking about that you could do the same for how many countrries speak the language, damn
What if they can't understand you? You're fucked then.

does anyone understand me anyway, and I like to fuck
I meant that if you asked someone what language they spoke, the language barrier itself may make it difficult for them to answer your question.

*providing thier fit - obviously! Some men look rank in suits*
Mandarin is spoken by more people in the world than any other language - FACT
(I should know I've been to China twice)
the population of china is 1.5 billion and the population of the world is 6 billion. being why mandarin chinese is the most widely spoken language in the world. so i remembered one thing from geography...

All this talk of foreign languages reminded me of the day that cal set the record for getting kicked out of a french class at school:
Teacher walks in...."Cal get out"
I wonder if they have a section in it in the guinness book of records. If they don't, they should!
(Also, add to the list of stuff bought two copies of 8 mile on dvd and the new marilyn manson album).

My maths teacher was dyslexic. She was great at Maths but would make really obvious spelling mistakes. She constantly spelt 'triangle' as 'traingle' for instance. One day we were all talking at the back of the class, mucking around, as you do. She shouted at my mate Jamie "When you're as good at maths as me then you can muck about in my class as much as you like" to which he replied "When you can spell basic shapes as well as my little brother then you can start to compare my maths with whatever you like".
It was probably more funny at the time.
What was more funny was my announcment to my RE class that "RE is useless and is basically a pile of shit". Then my teacher, who I thought had left the room, stood up and promptly chucked me out. The irony here is that I'm quite interested in religion now and consider it good practice to know a little about a religion before setting out to argue its flaws.
