Well, our schools taking a big group of us 6th form students down to London on 2nd July to celebrate finishing exams and all. We can go anywhere we want and do whatever we want:D Any of you knowledgeable fellows and fellowesses know of any decent places we could go and visit? I have no idea what’s in London so I can’t think of anywhere!
Posted by Gary, 20:23, 9th June 2003:

I really wouldn't bother going - London is a shit hole.
Posted by samhandwich, 20:41, 9th June 2003:

Well, I've paid now!
Posted by Sul, 21:09, 9th June 2003:

londons great. Skip on west up the southside of the thames past the london eye and spend all day in Namco's.

Fuck that just go to nearest pub and feel what its like to pay £3 for a pint in a shithole. Its so fun I do it most nights of the week.
Posted by cal, 08:43, 10th June 2003:

first thing: ignore gary. he is talking bollocks.

go on the london eye. go to the tate modern. sit in hyde park in the sun. play dance dance revolution all day in the troccadero. go to the huge odeon in leisceter square. go shopping down neal street. eat at the pizza place under covent garden market. spend all day in the biggest clothes shop in the world. get very drunk in any one of thousands of pubs.

there's a bazillion cool things to do - depends what sort of thing you like :)

Camden is excellent for shopping
Posted by Lu, 20:31, 10th June 2003:

I agree with Redmaiden, Camden is absolutely brilliant, I love it there. China Town is good too. Always bustling and they have some nice places to eat too.
Posted by Lu, 20:32, 10th June 2003:

Or Primrose Hill, the view from the top is beautiful. You might see some celebs too, if that's your cup of tea.

I prefer New Look. Their stuff fits me bum better.
Posted by chandler, 11:40, 11th June 2003:

is that how you shoplift the stuff? store it in your bum?
Posted by arsepuppy, 11:44, 11th June 2003:

Yes, the constant sodomy I endure has widened the cavity, making shoplifting easy, but pooing scary. :(
Posted by Rosie, 11:44, 11th June 2003:

i bought a nice top from there the other day. Its well cheap in that shop - and the clothes wash up nice and don't fall apart.

Well you obviously haven't been to much places then, have you?
Posted by beargod, 09:40, 12th June 2003:

Yes, I have visited most places in england, I just don't like shopping (really the main reason to visit london) plus I prefer the countryside, which I have said many a-time before
Posted by arsepuppy, 09:41, 12th June 2003:

There's much more to london than shopping GYAC.
Posted by beargod, 09:48, 12th June 2003:

I know there are visiting attractions like museums and the tower and stuff, but I have visited the natural history museum a couple of times and it got boring on the second time, the other museums, I got bored the first time i visited.

I prefer to find castles and old buildings and go arounf them

what does GYAC stand for?
Posted by arsepuppy, 09:55, 12th June 2003:

Get Yourself A Clue (some cruel folk use it as God You're A Cunt)

London has its minus points but it also has some good stuff, like the museums, like you mentioned, the architecture (Wren's stuff, the South Bank stuff and the Victorian stuff mainly), and loads of other things. For instance, what is the likelihood of bumping into the man Westwood in the countryside.

I prefer to find castles and old buildings and go arounf them

They have these in London.

Although the best castle is this one:

It rocks.
Posted by beargod, 10:27, 12th June 2003:

I know they have castles and building in London, But I like to visit the ones in the country more, usually has more of a relaxed atmosphere, plus I hate trying to find my way round london
Posted by arsepuppy, 10:27, 12th June 2003:

It's not one of Edward I's castles so it loses. But if you're playing the moat card, I raise you Beaumaris Castle, edwardian castle with moat.

I think I have been there, but I don't remember seeing it on tv, but then again apart from the wheat-a-bix advert of robin hood I don't ever remember seeing it in films or tv, but here is a quote from the same website

A fairytale medieval castle, one of the most famous in Britain. Rising from the moat which is filled with huge carp. Built in anticipation of a French Invasion in 1385 which never happened. Due to the castle being in fine condition you can see superb examples of old English architecture with rounded corner towers, battlements, portcullis and extensive moat.

I think I have been there, but I don't remember seeing it on tv

soutyh east of engand, well the "hole" Gary is meaning London, i meant mid east not mid easy and i was meaning Iraq, Iran, Isreal etc. they have much morehistory then we do
Posted by arsepuppy, 09:37, 13th June 2003:

The middle east don't have that much of a history though. In ancient times, yes, but there's a void of 1500 years where not much happened. Mainly due to the aftermath of the Roman Empire, the Mamaluke occupation, the Ottoman Empire and the growth of the British Empire. Since there hasn't been stability there for this long there wasn't a chance for the cultures to develop in a way like others have.

In essence, Middle Eastern history is just a big game of "pass the parcel" where "ownership" of countries was passed between people and the indigenous folk themselves just wandered in the wilderness.

Or maybe it just rats.
Posted by arsepuppy, 09:38, 13th June 2003:

all that for the "rats" joke.... *sigh*
