I HATE SALAD. - *that was for BG*

I never eat salad as its like eating a big plate of leaves or grass. Yuk! I've only ever eaten leaves/grass once and that was at Glastonbury. Nuff said, eh?!
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 15:40, 17th June 2003:

Posted by jlittle, 15:43, 17th June 2003:

There is only one place cucumbers should go, and it isn't down your mouth
Posted by Rosie, 15:44, 17th June 2003:

Blah! I hate veg. I eat potatoes and thats it. If i was meant to eat all that shit then I'd live in a warren and have a power puff tail. *which I don't*

jlittle: In order to lose weight you don't have to give up the foods you love, you just have to watch the amount you eat.

I would suggest eating a good breakfast, a light lunch and a sensible dinner.

For snacks try celery and peanut butter, a cup of fruit or cheese and crackers.

I wish you the best of luck on a healthy lifestyle. It isn't easy to do and you have to be very disciplined.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 15:44, 17th June 2003:

come on now, veg is good when covered in gravy.
Posted by Rosie, 15:44, 17th June 2003:

You mean you can eat Qcumbers?...........
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 15:45, 17th June 2003:

eh..yes
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 15:47, 17th June 2003:

Celery!! Yuk!
Posted by November Eclectica, 15:48, 17th June 2003:

peanut butter makes anything taste good.
Posted by beargod, 15:48, 17th June 2003:

Cucumbers are actually one of my favorite veg, but yes, I don't think I could eat a meal without meat in it, meat is too nice
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 15:48, 17th June 2003:

good point...but i doubt it could make celery good
Posted by beargod, 15:49, 17th June 2003:

I hate peanut butter, its too rich
Posted by November Eclectica, 15:50, 17th June 2003:

Cucumbers are a veggie not a fruit.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 15:50, 17th June 2003:

the only thing that makes celery good is the bin!
Posted by beargod, 15:51, 17th June 2003:

yeah damn sorry, I thought I might have changed that before somone saw
Posted by November Eclectica, 15:52, 17th June 2003:

I love it. I don't think there is a veggie that I won't eat.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 15:52, 17th June 2003:

I tell you the best veg, parsnips.
Posted by November Eclectica, 15:52, 17th June 2003:

parsnips, never had those
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 15:53, 17th June 2003:

Posted by jlittle, 15:55, 17th June 2003:

Posted by Rosie, 15:55, 17th June 2003:

They give me terrible wind. So does turnips.

Yorkshire puds are my fav!

Yummmm...aunt bessies..

:O
Posted by beargod, 16:01, 17th June 2003:

aunt bessies are an expensive alternative to the real thing and parsnips and turnips make me sick, although if they are on my plate they will be eaten
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 16:02, 17th June 2003:

Roast spuds are my fav! With a nice bit of haggis...god, i am getting hungry now.
Posted by beargod, 16:03, 17th June 2003:

I want some haggis, its supposed to be really nice yet I have never eaten it, and I doubt I will ever with my g/f
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 16:06, 17th June 2003:

Posted by November Eclectica, 16:09, 17th June 2003:

Posted by Rosie, 16:15, 17th June 2003:

It's something revolting...
Posted by beargod, 16:15, 17th June 2003:

i thought it was sheeps guts boiled in a sheeps stomach
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 16:16, 17th June 2003:

It is oatmeal, and other ingredients, not insides of any animal anyway, with loads and loads of spices..but it is all rapped in the stomach of a sheep.

there, its fuckin lovely
Posted by jeffld, 16:17, 17th June 2003:

That's interesting, I just started my diet yesterday. I also bought a new eliptical machine for home. (I sold my bally's membership because my wife, now ex wife said we need the money) I'm guessing she didn't want me there checking out the women... whatever..

anyway. I'm about 20 lbs above the weight I want to be and I want to get back to a size 33 pants! I'm squeezing into 34's right now. (my age is larger than my pants size and I want to keep it that way!!!)

last time I needed to diet was when I was single and spent too much time in front of the computer and tv getting fat. Same thing this time! plus, after my divorce i was eating a LOT of comfort food.
Posted by beargod, 16:19, 17th June 2003:

I hate comfort food, I need taking of it now I don't need it but I am too used to it now
Posted by beargod, 16:21, 17th June 2003:

so haggis is porridge, with pancakes and sheep liver with spices boiled in a sheeps stomach, sounds breakfasty,

arn't you only supposed to eat it mainly on burns night?
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 16:21, 17th June 2003:

I dont eat comfort food, well i dont think i do. What exactly is it?
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 16:22, 17th June 2003:

Thats what you eat on Burns day, but you can eat it anytime you want. Burns days are good, plenty of haggis and plenty of booze.
Posted by beargod, 16:24, 17th June 2003:

comfort food is when you have a problem and you eat to try and comfort yourself about it
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 16:26, 17th June 2003:

na, i dont do that...i drink instead.
Posted by Rosie, 16:30, 17th June 2003:

I had a problem with food when I was younger, but now I don't give a flying fuck about what I eat! If I wanna eat then I will, if I don't then I don't - easy!

That haggis stuff still sounds revolting.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 16:32, 17th June 2003:

Rosie, you should try it..it is really nice. Just forget about the sheeps stomach bit.
Posted by Rosie, 16:34, 17th June 2003:

I don't eat meat - well, apart from chicken, but they don't count coz they're ugly.
Posted by earthworm, 16:45, 17th June 2003:

Haggis is fecking gorgeous...

I'm really hungry now...
Posted by earthworm, 16:48, 17th June 2003:

someone email me please and make me feel wanted...
Posted by amightygoodleader, 16:52, 17th June 2003:

Haggis is amazing, spicy, and full of random but delicious stuff, although to be honest i try and ignore what it's actually made from. I love the fact that you can get it for breakfast in Scottish hotels sometimes.

Salad is also great, its the best excuse food ever for example:

"hmmm I'm just gonna cook half a cow, fry a load of potatoes, add some salad and I am suddenly both healthy and a new man at the same time!"
Posted by beargod, 16:55, 17th June 2003:

whats spicy rice?
Posted by amightygoodleader, 16:58, 17th June 2003:

Actually, i have no idea, ignore i ever made that comment, thats been my stock way of describing it to anyone that won't try it before i force them to eat it but on reflection it makes no sense at all
Posted by beargod, 17:08, 17th June 2003:

I wanna try it, and If I am sick I will hopefully be sick on the cook
Posted by coolcat88, 20:04, 17th June 2003:

I wanna try it too. Sounds yummy.
Posted by jeffld, 20:06, 17th June 2003:

Thanks Beargod! thats it exactly! I especially overdid it with Pizza and Ice cream.
Posted by beargod, 09:28, 18th June 2003:

I over indulged myself with crisps and chinese chicken sandwiches from the Uni of teesside cafe
Posted by jlittle, 09:35, 18th June 2003:

I tried hagis a few months ago, it tasted shite, was quite dry, didnt really like it.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 09:43, 18th June 2003:

Wasnt a good haggis then, it shouldnt be dry..should be moist
Posted by jlittle, 09:48, 18th June 2003:

pah, i dunno then!
Posted by jlittle, 11:37, 18th June 2003:

mmmmmmmmmm more salad!
Posted by beargod, 11:49, 18th June 2003:

Salad is the way, but does remind me of rabbits
Posted by ilovebeerme, 13:13, 18th June 2003:

Haggis is too from a sheep! It's heart, liver and lungs all mixed with oatmeal and spices and served in the sheeps stomach. A good one should be moist and spicy. Lovely stuff. Strange to cause I'd eat that but I'll never put a McDonalds anywhere near my mouth.

Salad is one of my favourite meals. Just be inventive and make a nicoise or something.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 13:24, 18th June 2003:

ILBM, are you sure about the heart, and lungs part...

*whispers* I know about the liver but i was trying to make it sound more appetising to Rosie.
Posted by beargod, 13:34, 18th June 2003:

yep I thought it was the heart, lungs and liver
Posted by cal, 13:44, 18th June 2003:

yuck. tastes nasty
Posted by jlittle, 13:45, 18th June 2003:

Traditional Haggis

1 sheep's pluck (stomach bag)
2 lb.. dry oatmeal
1 lb. suet
1 lb. lamb's liver
2 1/2 cups stock
1 large chopped onion
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper, Jamaica pepper and salt

Boil liver and parboil the onion, then mince them together. Lightly brown the oatmeal. Mix all ingredients together. Fill the sheep's pluck with the mixture pressing it down to remove all the air, and sew up securely. Prick the haggis in several places so that it does not burst. Place haggis in boiling water and boil slowly for 4-5 hours. Serves approximately 12.

Posted by beargod, 13:46, 18th June 2003:

Posted by jlittle, 13:47, 18th June 2003:

Another recipe.

hot red pepper (cayenne preferred)
1 pound beef suet
1/8 tsp. nutmeg (or less to taste)
2 onions, chopped
6 oz. oatmeal, toasted
3/4 pint beef stock
