Only album I don't have of theirs
Detroit Cobras - "Life, Love and Leaving"
The Seeds - "Web of Sound"
Goldfrapp - "Black Cherry"
It's a "best of" though, isn't it? If you have the rest, surely you don't need it....

About fucking time.
My boss going 'blah blah blah 110%, blah blah blah streamlining, harumph harumph harumph cost analysis' snooooooze.

I hate the whole "downloading music" trend. It's ok in some circumstances but otherwise it's bad.
But I've given my 2p's worth

Yep there is a company who goes through the peer to peer system and searches for people sharing files, then they find the IP and get the users details from the ISP. Someone I know has had a a message from the company and said they found him, but NTL would not give over the persons details, the company is employed by these big Companies, EMI, Time Warner etc
Surely they cant give out a persons details due to the data protection act? Or am i totally wrong? (bearing in mind that i dont like the Simpsons)

I would have thought so foggy, but there are alot of rules that don't work on the internet:( as they say it cannot be policed
Posted by
Grim..., 11:38, 26th June 2003:
Surely you can't download the songs because of the copyright act?
I think you can get around the DPA if you are police, or whatever.
I've mentioned before that I saw Chuck D talking about this a couple of years ago. He is very very pro P2P file sharing and encouraged us all to download Public Enemies music before buying it. Anyway it's ahrd to remember all of what was said but this is quite interesting and covers some of the points he made;

well the peer to peer thing worked around the whole copyright law, because, like stated before you can copy what you own and put it on tape/cd and avoid the law, this works in the same way. Or something like that, Its found a loophole in it somewhere.
Posted by
Grim..., 11:55, 26th June 2003:
The loophole is that you are allowed to copy the files onto your computer, but you can only keep them for 24 hours.
So, downloading is allowed, and it's almost impossible to track who has deleted and who hasn't.

Ah yes, praise you, for I'm sure that you have never in your life downloaded any kind of material you should of paid for, and never suggestd anything similar.

almost correct.

true.
I've only seen it done for Films so far, whereas a company would contact the ISP on behalf of who they have been employed by, for example someone like Warner Bros.
The will tell the ISP that Joe Bloggs has been using a p2p, and they will ask for his account to be closed and for him to be contacted to say that what he is doing is illigal, and to stop it straight away.
The ISP is at no obligation to do either of these, and most will probally send out a letter, but not bother about closing the account.
If the company finds the same person is still sharing the Warner Bros films, they can (not sure if they have gone to this extreme yet), contact the police who are able to get the details from the ISP, or at least get them to be passed on - if legal action is wanted, then the company now has the details to be able to do this.

yep its something like that, I can't remember it was a long time ago, although I do remember he said the company tried to nick his details

brilliant! kind of crazy tho, she kept wandering off into the audience and chatting to people.. at one point she asked if anyone wanted a 'puff' on her cigarette and made some guy who'd jokingly said yes come on stage and then she kept running away from him. Also they stopped the show so everyone could 'go pee' because their sound lady complained over the mic that she needed to ;)
the music was good too!
What kind of music do they do again?

jeff, 11:46, 27th June 2003:
very chilled out introspective bluesy folk... she has a really cool voice, kinda husky... its really 'she' rather than 'they' but her band do sing a little... i think you'd really like her stuff..

I am listening to Vic's 80 mix and also another mixed CD that I got from my friend Laura.
I'm tempted to do a mix CD. Dunno what theme to go for yet though....

I was just thinking about doing a mix CD of theme tunes. First track the theme from starsky and hutch
Oooh tempting.....
I was considering doing either dirty funk, northern soul, or 60's garage.
Or just an album of pure sleaze. Nice.
