What does *thud* mean?
Posted by jlittle, 10:40, 26th June 2003:

1. A dull sound, as that of a heavy object striking a solid surface.
2. A blow or fall causing such a sound.

On here it's normally said after someone says something very stupid.

Also...

3. Passing out in disbelief
4. Slamming head against table in disbelief.

I took it as meaning 3 in the "Post's That Must Ryhme" thread, but I'm probably wrong.

Surely 4 would be *thud*thud*thud* ?

It must be said that it's not the simplest word to decypher.

One one hand it can mean 'Oh my God that was so stupid I've passed out', and on the other it could mean 'Oh my God that was so brilliant I've passed out'...

The first one, always.
