Posted by Grim..., 15:56, 26th June 2003:

L33t amuses me and I'm pretty good at reading it, but people who send SMS messages like 'hay m8 r u comng out 2nite? txt my fone', or people that use l33t all the time, deserve to die.
Posted by Sul, 15:59, 26th June 2003:

I'll have to admit to using R and U on my phone when doing text messages. Its down to lazyness really.
Posted by beargod, 16:04, 26th June 2003:

I admit to writing out the whole word of every word except cos and msg
Posted by cal, 16:16, 26th June 2003:

Posted by Grim..., 16:17, 26th June 2003:

I write them like little letters, with apostrophes and commas and capitalisation and everything.

Posted by Grim..., 16:17, 26th June 2003:

Posted by Rosie, 16:37, 26th June 2003:

I dont understand either.

Let us in on the secret.....
Posted by arsepuppy, 16:38, 26th June 2003:

I don't understand either. My 'ead hurts.
Posted by Sul, 16:39, 26th June 2003:

So being l33t is to muddle up letters and sentences and generally confuse people who dont understand?

Beargod is l33t god!
Posted by beargod, 16:42, 26th June 2003:

actually I can't read or write it, But the way you describe it I should damn
Posted by Rosie, 16:52, 26th June 2003:

will someone explain?

:D
Posted by Grim..., 17:04, 26th June 2003:

Hmm. L33t is using symbols or numbers instead of letters, like h3ll0 maybe (or |-|3|_|_() if you want to go mad).

Soon words like haxor started off, then w00t and llama (lamer) and fuxor and things.

l33t is L E E T or Elite.
Posted by plindoe, 17:04, 26th June 2003:

It was used by hackers and such like when emails and such were being read by machines, similar to when you say bomb and stuff like that on the phone in america (so I have heard, machines start recording your comversation) so they could speak to there mates without the FBI raiding their houses.

...and isnt it w00t!

llama's are lame!
Posted by jeffld, 20:47, 26th June 2003:

I think the strapline should read "Do you want to touch my monkey?"
Posted by Sul, 21:57, 26th June 2003:

and even if it doesnt, my monkey's here to touch
Posted by Sul, 21:58, 26th June 2003:

just to let everyone know
Posted by Gary, 18:26, 27th June 2003:

*This* should be the next strapline. Don't tell Gary, though ;P

* Yawn! *
Posted by ell, 00:38, 28th June 2003:

Yeah Cal, you should really put a "minor-friendly" option in the profile to block the rendering of profanity on work connections. Or at least change it to "banal is giving as a speacial btreat".

Matt & Sul (& other workers): Do you have a list of banned words at all, or it it hit-or-miss with what sets your firewalls off?
Posted by arsepuppy, 09:07, 30th June 2003:

EDIT: DOUBLE POST HELL :(
Posted by arsepuppy, 09:07, 30th June 2003:

None here. Ha ha ha. You have to love the nuclear industry.
Posted by beargod, 09:48, 30th June 2003:

I love my industry I am the IT department therefore I look at what I want :)
Posted by Sul, 10:14, 30th June 2003:

We dont have a "bad words" list. If we do I dont know about it and noone bothers checking the logs. I'd post a screen print of the history of a stores PC that was sent to me by a manager obviously a little upset that his staff had been looking at sites entitled "grannies and fatties". So theyre not banned but bash.org is. Its a funny old world.
Posted by beargod, 10:45, 30th June 2003:

he he he some of that bash.org is very funny
