I have a problem. Id like to set up a system for an up coming website im doing that can access some webcams/cctv cameras remotely through the web site. I know very little about it, but we would like to be able to pan, tilt and zoom, so it seems like CCTV cameras will be our best bet, anyone know anything about it? I dont think webcams will be good enough because most dont have pan/tilt/zoom functions, especially on remote, also would the system need hard cabling or would some sort of radio transmitter do the job? I could do with knowing if any of this is actually possible, but im sure it is...

you get get a little box which plugs into a pc and has a tilt/swivel platform that you just put a normal webcam on. for zooming you just crop the webcam image. they come with the erlevant control software. i've played with one myself, but can't remember who makes them

Well ive had a range of quotes from companies, fom super CCTV control systems to simple camera setups, and they range from a few hundred quid to £4500 odd. Hhmmm, bares further investigation...
