This is a read-only copy. The forum ran on iamcal.com from 2000 until its database was lost in 2016, and this topic was rebuilt from copies saved by the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. Some replies may be missing.

People are seriously allowed to publish this sort of thing? "The Australian author Jasmuheen has not eaten any food for 5 years. This book describes how this came to her and a special 21-day process to convert the body to the new way of being sustained.". Liar. [via Ody]

I've been going module mad lately and actually releasing some of the more functional of my perl modules onto CPAN:
CSS
Graphics::ColorDeficiency
Inline::Interp
Language::Homespring
Language::Homespring::Visualise::GraphViz

Ponie (perl5 on parrot) should be pretty cool. You can read about that and more at the perl 6 talks site

Matt Biddulph did an excellent talk on RDF. If you didn't understand RDF before, you will now.

Did you see when Richard and Judy had that "Living on Light" woman on their show???

Basically, she did her spiel only to be interrupted by the popular TV couple, who began completely laying into her, tearing huge strips off her. It was a complete character assassination and pure TV gold.

I bet theres a note from David Icke in there somewhere! Bloody mentalists.
"When I'm eating this steak I'm not ACTUALLY eating. It simply a once a day treat I give to myself. Along with the peas, chips, gravy and beer"

That was an interesting pdf on hackdiary.com about RDF.

Cal, I noticed long ago that you have a FOAF file, I just never really had an application for it. I still don't, but I think the concept of using XML for it's metadata properties is going to become much more popular.

I work in a data related industry in the US and I still see a lot of business data flying around in flat files!
(with little or no metadata) (oh the horror of it all!)

I'm surprised that I don't see a lot more technical discussions here.

BUT I do feel that it is a good to have a entertainment diversion and to not always take things too seriously. Many of the people on this site are very interesting. I won't name any names, they already know who they are.

I've heard that that "living on light" woman actually eats quite a lot of the time - she just discounts them as 'snacks'...

Thanks for Graphics::ColorDeficiency. I'm using it to create a web tool that's a hybrid between your Color Vision page and the freeware Mac application ColorDesigner, generating random (usually-)readable color combinations for web pages and then showing how well they contrast for people with color problems.
