Dudes - can you put network cable outside? Id like to network our pcs at home, but to do so i need to run network cable round to the other room, but not to upset the decor i will have to run it round the outside of the house, will it be ok exposed to the elements like that?

actually, as long as it's away from water or other electro/magnetic sources, i think it would be fine

if the network cable is waterproof, it'll be fine... or you could waterproof it yourself if necessary

I'm pretty sure it's ok, a mate of mine has a cable from his house to his nextdoor neighbour through his back garden(they're backwardly opposite) and it's fine.

(tho saying that it could be special outsidey waterproof cable or something)

i think i may buy some plastic conduit for it, at least it will keep moisture and frost away from it and so long as the connectors are all indoors i dont think it will matter.

i'd either trunk it, and/or use decent cable (the sort that's rubbery on the outside, not hard)
