YAY Me and misses beargod, have got us a flat, Now we need money to sort it all out :)
It needs a good make over too, so anyone know a place which deals with cheap carpets or has cheap paint? Preferable, if they are likely to be in west Kent or east sussex

That is very true, my young dude, and that might get a little packed with the double bed, and the TV and computer :D
What town/city have you bought a flat in?

beargod, 16:19, 29th July 2003:
High Brooms, I think can be classed in Tunbridge Wells
Nice one.
(I was expecting this to be an Ikea/MFI thread, though)

True, could have been, could make it that way, I need a chest of draws and a wardrobe and a dining room table, which is cheaper Ikea or MFI
Fuck knows..I dont go to either. Find a antiques shop and get the items there. Better than that IKEA pish.

beargod, 16:56, 29th July 2003:
I was thinking about that, but I also thought, it might be cheaper at a mfi or ikea, but I doubt it. In the village in which my parent dwells there is a market and an auction, I might go there, they are usually cheap
yeah, do that. Dont go to IKEA, you buy the thing for a massive amount then spend half the fuckin day trying to put it together. nightmare!
Ikea is better than MFI, and cheap, but everyone shops there now.

I don't mind the work, but if you insist its more expensive then, I will take your advice. I used to love going to MFI as a child then getting something and making my dad put it together

maybe I will look at ikea and the auction then :)
oooh congrats simon (when is the housewarming party?)

Will be having a paint party as soon as we get the house but we have to see how long it takes to complete
I will have to send you and your honey a pressie. Congrats, it is always fun owning your own place.

Soggy biscuit? that would mean miki would have to eat the biscuit, and you are both gay men
Hee hee... High Brooms.
You're quite close to the Industrial Esate in Tunbridge Wells (possibly even walking distance). There is a few cheap carpet places there.
Also, Tunbridge Wells library is about the best locally and have a kickass reference section.

Excellent, well done dude. - as Tom said - loads of cheap stuff in the Insdustrial estate - best thing to do is just to get a quote and then phone around and see if it can be beaten.

What does purpose built mean?
They were made on purpose? - I don't understand...
Posted by
beargod, 09:57, 30th July 2003:
People convert houses to flat, but this was built as a flat
Built for the purpose of selling as a flat.

nice big lounge..more than enough room to play Twister.
Posted by
beargod, 10:54, 30th July 2003:
Yes we likie the size of the lounge, and the bedroom is nearly as big, could have a trainline going though it all
Posted by
jlittle, 10:56, 30th July 2003:
Looks like it could be nice once decorated - and i agree you should go to the industrial estate - get them to give you a quote with correct sizes, and then phone around and see if you can get it beaten.

beargod, 10:59, 30th July 2003:
ok cheers
It's the North Farm industrial estate, and just round the corner Knight's Park Retail, which contains such wonders as the Odeon, the Bowlplex, various crappy restaurants and a health club.

Where do you live tom, or did you live?
I went to frankie and bennies in knights park not too long ago and they gave me a big pizza for the price of a small pizza, which was nice :)
I live in Mayfield which is about 20 minutes from Tun Wells (or 45 if you take the bus...) and is East Sussex not Kent, but close enough. It's basically my nearest decent-sized town.
Yeah, I try to buy a Fiat Panda on the E-bay auction, and accidentally i bidded for a flat panda, pressed between the bamboo pages of a tome on Genetic Engineer, Doctor Yong Mao.
£190 k? Lovely flat. But in XXX you could get a XXX sq foot house for that.
Seriously though. London is nuts.

Tommorris I used to come through Mayfield when I lived in Heathfield, although I hated how thin the roads in the center was
Posted by
beargod, 12:07, 11th August 2003:
by the way beardybuck they have taken down the flat we got now, that is some other one for £190k ours cost £109k Big difference and we would not have got a mortgage for that much anyway :)
Posted by
tommorris, 00:54, 16th August 2003:
Um, the roads are still 'thin' due to people double- and even tripe-parking outside the general stores. Oh, and there's a big bypass meaning that nobody ever has to visit our shanty, good-fer-nothing-except-old-pubs-and-old-churches-and-the-occasional-bookshop village ever again.
Plus, Heathfield School really blows. Apparently. So I'm told.

The actual school wasn't bad, the buildings were fine, the teachers were the biggest pile of poo since forever, there were only one or two that could actually teach
