from the mouth of the bear god:

"Simon: The last decent film to come out and not have a sequal must have been Shawshank"

Nothing to discuss. BG is, as usual, completely wrong.

Otherwise he's saying that all films made since "the shawshank redemption" (1994, 9 years ago), were crap, excluding sequals.

So every film from the last 9 years (excluding the maybe one in 50 that's a sequal) is crap? FFS.
Posted by beargod, 16:09, 26th August 2003:

Actually I was meaning that has a sequal or is going to have a sequal, but to be honest thats what it feels like, they always seem to make a sequal from the good films nowadays and don't just leave it alone.

chayseff: and they would probably do a sequel
sbrumfitt: damn it why can't people leave a good film and not have a second one anymore
chayseff: i dont know dude
chayseff: at least they didnt make Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas 2
sbrumfitt: The last decent film to come out and not have a sequal must have been Shawshank
sbrumfitt: I meant a good film dude not bad films
sbrumfitt: ones that make money

That is the rest of the conversation and we were talking about pirates of the caribean.

I am not meaning it was the last one, I am meaning it seems like the last one.

Chay likes taking things I say and putting them on here, and cal stop going off on a bender about things that I say please, its getting annoyingly boring now

oh i'm sorry - maybe i'll talk about your THOUGHTS instead. WTF? don't talk about what you say? then you have no place being here.

I never said don't talk about what I say Cal, I said don't go off on a bender, you always get angry with everything I say. SOmetimes I am wrong about things, But you always get angry about it, that sentence above was misenterpreted by chay and put on here before I explained myself and I never really did explaing myself, but you seemed to get angryish about it
Posted by cal, 16:21, 26th August 2003:

what do you expect? you post gary-esque posts containing the most indefensible statements. then you post to explain what yuou were saying - and the conversation says exactly the same thing. if you're going to go round saying things like "all tv is shit", "all radio is shit" and now "all films since 1994 are shit" then what exactly do you expect?

do you think you're being funny?
Posted by beargod, 16:26, 26th August 2003:

No Cal, I never said all films since 1994 are shit, I said the majority of the main good ones seem to always get sequals. And I do beleive that most of the radio is shit, they play all this "pop", "RnB" etc. and I don't like it hence it being crap and I do not listen too it, however I do occasionally listen to radio 2 and classic fm if I am very bored, but I find it more enjoyable to listen to a CD. And TV yes, I hate it I don't watch it and have found it very very boring, what is wrong with that?
Posted by cal, 16:29, 26th August 2003:

lots is "wrong with it" according to lots of people. you have strange views. fair enough. but since this is a DISCUSSION COMMUNITY. you can expect them to be talked about unless you keep them to yourself. either:

a) quit complaining
b) don't tell us about your slightly mental views
Posted by beargod, 16:35, 26th August 2003:

Cal I am not bothered about people talking about it, its interesting, but you always seems like you have quite often said things to put me down like
Nothing to discuss. BG is, as usual, completely wrong.

Is this not like closing the discussion? You have made your mind up, I am therefore wrong, is this not hypocritical to what you have previously been saying, that people can discuss and therefore implying everyone can have their own point of view on the matter?
Posted by Gary, 16:38, 26th August 2003:

you post gary-esque posts containing the most indefensible statements.

Please don't associcate my indefensible statements with Beargod's indefensible statements. :P

Bad day today, Cal?

*chay puts head down and runs for cover, shrapnel falling all around*
(if this had been a few months back i would, of course, have sold arms to everyone and sat back and enjoyed the show, but this is the new Chay (v2.0) :D )

bg: you made a statement to begin with. i made a statement in return. what's your point? that i don't agree with enough of what you say? that even though you're the only one with insane opinions about popular culture that i should disagree with some other people to make it fair?
Posted by Miki, 16:44, 26th August 2003:

There are plenty of ways to discuss someones opinion on a subject without sounding angry and without seemingly dismissing the entire person.
Posted by beargod, 16:48, 26th August 2003:

no cal my point is that even though you disagree with some things you always seem to do it in harsh ways like the sentence above, like shortly after I joined I asked you a question about PHP being faster then Perl and you just gave me an angry responce, everyone agreed under it that it was harsh, and since then you have given me quite a few angry sounding responces, and it is just old and boring now.

I like this site I like the people on it, and I like you too cal but sometimes It just annoyes me with the way you word some of your responces, made me think about leaving the site a few times, but glad I didn't cos I found the whole banning chay thing rather humerous and a few other things too
Posted by chandler, 16:49, 26th August 2003:

um hands up i actually posted his statement which was from a yahoo convo. my fault. :(
*ducks back down behind burnt out car, machinegun fire all around*

This would be easily resolved if you both just realised that I'm always right.
Posted by cal, 16:50, 26th August 2003:

bottom line: i don't give a fuck. this is my site. if you don't like it, fuck off

just ask me I'll tell you whos best and whats more I'll be right too
Posted by cal, 16:56, 26th August 2003:

i've just dug up the perl/php thread you were talking about: www.iamcal.com/topic_2304

nobodsy replied under it. it wasn't a harsh response - i was explaining that the question was stupid, because it didn't mean anything useful. i don't see a whole lot of "harshness" in that thread to be honest.
Posted by cal, 16:57, 26th August 2003:

not a fight - i'm rubbish in a fight.

although my exponentially increasing weight might help
Posted by beargod, 16:59, 26th August 2003:

Cal I know its your site and I enjoy being here but sometimes it does get annoying when you respond to something angrily, sorry to bring it up cal, I just wanted to tell you I did not appreciate being told like that
Posted by beargod, 17:01, 26th August 2003:

Ok It was not that thread but anotherone, I mixed up the two threads sorry :)

"although my exponentially increasing weight might help"

friad not, bg will win there

I am way too heavy 19 and a half stone and counting :)

www.iamcal.com/topic_2318#post38059 thats the thread I meant. It was I felt hard done by, being called stupid(or stupid question, whatever) on the php perl faster question, when I did not know
Posted by cal, 17:21, 26th August 2003:

you were answering a question for someone, when you clearly didn't know what you were talking about.

misinformation about unblocking desi's toilet = funny
misinforming people when they ask for help with work = not so funny
Posted by beargod, 18:31, 26th August 2003:

I was not trying to be helpful, I was stating something from a magasine I read, they tested the main browsers for javascript and everything and said IE was really basic and did not handle all javascript aswell as many of the other browsers.

misinforming people when they ask for help with work = not so funny

True, but saying what you did say was very harsh

Wow, some people woke up on the wrong side of bed today! Or maybe you both woke up in the same bed and all this aggression is a way of masking your embarrassment?!!!11
