I have been chatting to my friend in the land of Oz and we were joking about culture shocks, you know the kind when you have been overseas and come back home, or just by visiting another country. Anyone got any interesting stories?

i went to sri lanka and ppl were washing their babies in the river along with their cattle. It was kinda upsetting.

After flying into heathrow, I got a bus to Bristol. I had just come back from Africa, where the pace of life is slow. I tell you, that bus was going so fast, it was night time. I thought I must be in a space ship it was going so fast and the roads, oh so smooth!!!

I used to live just outside Staines, (Rosie - in Stanwell!)then we moved to Somerset. I freaked out when walking my dog, because a farmer came along on his tractor and stopped to say hello. Sounds normal, but when you were brought up in a place where people dont usually say hi to strangers, I thought to myself, what does he want. But he was just saying hello.

Yep, thats why the country is really quite cool

another funny one - some friends flew out from UK and on the way from the airport to my place, I happened to see a guy with some ducks on the side of the road. I had 2 female ducks at home and had been looking for a drake for ages, so of course I was keen to stop. They did not know what I was doing. The guy came to the car window, with duck, we negotiated a price and the duck came in the car with us, home. They laughed so much and could not believe that I had bought a duck off the side of the road.

Hahaa! Thats cool, i wanna duck now! :D
Posted by Rosie, 12:54, 9th September 2003:

What do you do with the ducks?

(you don't eat them, do you?)

yum yum duckies mmmmmm.

I had bit of a culture shock one night at a party in Georgia, USA. I was asked by a 17 year old boy (two years older than me at the time) if we could;

1) Land planes in Scotland.
2) Did we have roads or just tracks.
3) Did we have TV.

I'd love to believe he was winding me up but alas he was not. Could be why he was starting the 9th grade again along with my 15 year old mate. Dumbass.

And all manly men want duck eggs to raise as their own :)

Chandler, Friends, had a duck and a chick. Ok so it wouldn't have been funny as such but um. I'll leave now.
