If JC really is dead, then it's a sad sad thing.

Go download "Ring of fire" and then say that again. I dare you.

Agreed Doc, Johnny C was a star.

I liked the one that went:

How highs the water Mama?
Two feet high and rising

How highs the water Papa?
etc, cant remember the words

I like the way he built his cadillac one piece at a time.
Posted by RUSS, 15:10, 16th September 2003:

and the cover tune he did earlier this year rocks, slowly.

Posted by beargod, 16:42, 16th September 2003:

That looks quite odd, but yes I thought that might be a strapline

Johnny Cash Is Dead.

Feeling for Mrs Cash, family and all his fans, but won't be missing his music.

Feeling for Mrs Cash

Um.. Pauly... Mrs Cash died a month or so back. It's been suggested that her death actually indirectly brought on his death. He was ill anyway, but they were very close and it was pretty much an event which stole all hope away from him :(

New Strapline.... Woo!
Posted by Doctor Lucid, 14:39, 19th September 2003:

Wasn't she Mrs Cash the 5th or something?
Posted by arsepuppy, 14:40, 19th September 2003:

She was the one who wrote "Ring Of Fire", I know for sure.

Two famous guys named John or Johhny dying in the same week/day?(Cash, Ritter) Not as weird as when two guys named Buddy died within a week of each other a little while back. As in Hackett and Ebsen. And how old was Johnny Cash? I thought I heard 70.
Posted by beargod, 18:39, 19th September 2003:

who is buddy hackett and buddy ebson?
Posted by Dazed and Confucius, 00:40, 20th September 2003:

oh, an old comedian and the guy who played Jed Clampet on the Beverly Hillbillies, and Barnaby Jones, both before you're time I'd guess. Before mine too, but I still know who they are.
Posted by Victor Menendez, 10:26, 20th September 2003:

wow, the Beverly Hillbillies rocked almost as much as Happy Days.
Posted by beargod, 09:48, 22nd September 2003:

Is that the film? I saw the film, but cannot remember it at all
Posted by Victor Menendez, 10:38, 22nd September 2003:

Not the goddamn crappy film, the excellent tea-time tv programme.
Posted by Doctor Lucid, 13:11, 22nd September 2003:

Cash was 71.

The bassist from The Crocketts used to dress up as Jesus and sing "ring of fire" at their gigs from time to time. That was cool.
Posted by arsepuppy, 12:58, 23rd September 2003:

I used to go out with a girl that used to do promo work for the Crocketts and the Llama Farmers (she bought their instruments when they split). Not with her anymore though.
Posted by Uncle Moc, 13:02, 23rd September 2003:

No way! What was her name?

The Crocketts were, like, the most amazing live band in the world ever. Like, they even out-shone Rammstein's firey live show. Till Lindemann setting himself on fire was nothing compared to the twitching wreck that was Davey Crockett at the peak of his self destructive beauty.

Amy. She knew 'em and stuff..
Posted by Uncle Moc, 13:43, 23rd September 2003:

Bless their hearts. We once got invited to their "Host" single launch party and they gave us funny cakes.
Posted by cal, 14:01, 23rd September 2003:

The Crocketts are the worst band i've ever see live
Posted by arsepuppy, 14:12, 23rd September 2003:

TBH I know fuck all about them, except they have some connection to Aberystwyth. Haven't a clue what they sound like.
Posted by Doctor Lucid, 14:15, 23rd September 2003:

When did you see them, Cal? It wasn't when they played support to the Stereophonics in those big stadia, no?
Posted by Uncle Moc, 15:15, 23rd September 2003:

Man, they amazing live! AP, they've been descibed as "country punk spunk rockers" which isn't incredibly accurate. Like a cross between The Pixies and Johnny Cash. But cooler. The all met at agricultural college in Aberystwith. Davey is irish though. He's in a band called The Crimea now who aren't half as good. They're still okay, though.
Posted by arsepuppy, 15:22, 23rd September 2003:

My mate went to agricultural college in Aber. He now refuses to speak English. They sound good though. I've heard of the Crimea through said ex though. I've been put off them by the fact that she likes them, and she is generally into bedwetting emo shit.
Posted by cal, 15:35, 23rd September 2003:

lucid: yeah, donnington. crocketts were utter arse, black corws were bad, ash fucking ruled and the stereophonics were dull.
Posted by Uncle Moc, 15:51, 23rd September 2003:

Man, that's funny. My friend Simon went to that gig and got a bad impression of the crocketts there too. If it hadn't been there, I would have had to disagree with you on principle cause they're so darn amazing live (well, they have been whenever I've seen them), but yeah, perhaps not on that occasion.

Still, you paid money to go see the Stereophonics, which is almost as bad!
Posted by Uncle Moc, 15:52, 23rd September 2003:

Crimea are quite nice. It's the post-rehab sound cause Davey took too many little pills and drank too many whiskeys and went crazy. So now he's straightened out and shakes a lot still and their music's a lot more relaxing.
Posted by cal, 17:11, 23rd September 2003:

i paid money to see ash. i'm not really a stereophonics fan
Posted by Doctor Lucid, 12:39, 24th September 2003:

Yeah, I guess.
Posted by Doctor Lucid, 12:40, 24th September 2003:

Sorry, am being pretty antisocial today.

Download some Crocketts though & give them another chance.
