Yes, if you intend to keep them for more than 24 hours.

is it illegal to use a shotgun to 'borrow' money from the bank?

I downloaded a video and it said this :

This TV capture is only for the promotion of the artist or group and is not for sale. It is provided as an alternative to recording with VCR and is 100% non-profit and 100% legal. If you enjoy this capture, then i recommend you to your local music store and purchase any items from this artist or group.

I'm guessing by shotgun you mean kazaa. They said that they are having the users responsible not kazaa. If that's true how can it be illegal if the videos are non-profit and promotional.

"Yes, if you intend to keep them for more than 24 hours."

I'm almost certain that whole 24 hours thing is pure fantasy.

I've been having lots of trouble finding out if they are illegal or something. Cuz you can get them off websites and i'm sure if they havn't closed them down it's because they are legal.

Some record companies release new videos on the net for promotional reasons therefore downloading it isnt illegal. But if someone captured a video off MTV and then put it out on the net I'm pretty sure there's some legal issues with it.

I too am not entirely convinced by the whole 24 hour thing.

Some videos have the MTV log and everthing and they also have the website and the person who captured it from tv. I don't think anyone would put themselves on the line.

logo**

Um, but capturing it from the TV *is* illegal. It's the intellectual property of the record companies, and also in this case where the MTV logo is present, another legal can of worms. People still rip videos for distribution on Kazaa but it isn't at all legal. However, as the person is hiding behind a URL or similar, it's hard for the authorities to track them down. Furthermore, it's a pain filling in paperwork for chasing after these people.

I personally think that videos are for promotion and for the public.

To be fair; I dont think your personal feelings count for shit in the eyes of the law.
