Round-up time, who's coming?
Posted by arsepuppy, 12:45, 27th October 2003:

Dunno. I've got deadlines next week and I stupidly forgot to do a single bit of work for them. D'oh!

(That's not a no, BTW)
Posted by Sul, 12:47, 27th October 2003:

I'm coming for sure mo fo!

So is my sister.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 13:13, 27th October 2003:

No idea. Dont know where to meet. Dont know how to get there.

If I get directions (not from Sul) then I shall attempt it.
Posted by Sul, 13:18, 27th October 2003:

Rosie: Rock on! She likes tall skinny guys with drink problems right?

Foggie: :/ yeah. I'll stay out of this one.
Posted by Rosie, 13:23, 27th October 2003:

No, Sul - Thats me.
Posted by eatmypiano, 13:35, 27th October 2003:

I'm a sad loner with no friends. Well, not really but none of them are geeky like me. Even the missus isn't interested and she owns a computer!

So, barring a last minute offer from a group of people off the internet to befriend me and not let me stand in the corner, I'm probably not going.
Posted by RUSS, 13:45, 27th October 2003:

i am undecided, i wouldn't mind going but i think it may be a bit weird going on my own and noone i know will want to come
Posted by arsepuppy, 13:51, 27th October 2003:

If my suspicions are right and I get chucked by the mrs this week, I may have to come :(
Posted by Sul, 13:55, 27th October 2003:

EMP: We wont let you stand in the corner
RUSS: Come along. We rock. You'll regret it if you dont.
AP: She hear about the lapdancer?
Posted by Victor Menendez, 14:06, 27th October 2003:

Rosie, Foggy, Ap, anyone else who's not sure of how to get there, I would imagine that after work on the friday, i'll trail into waterloo and meet sul and we can hang on there for anyone on the way down.

(an exchange of phone numbers might be useful to avoid the problems we had last time)
Posted by Victor Menendez, 14:07, 27th October 2003:

Russ and EMP, come down and you can both stand in the corner together ;)
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 14:08, 27th October 2003:

Dont think my train goes into Waterloo. AP, will go through Reading?

An Englishman, an Irishman and a Scotsman walk into a bar. The bartender says "What is this? Some kind of joke?"

Looks like I'll be coming then as at least one person has agreed to talk to me.

Send an email to eatmypiano@yahoo.co.uk or add me to Messenger at maximumhigh@hotmail.com if you want to get my mobile phone number. Photo is in my profile.

I suggest we meet somewhere at some time. What does everyone else think?

It's the name of the Shed Seven album I was listening to while rejecting suggestions from MSN such as "Steve_Thompson_17392018743" and "Eat_My_Piano_174920129193".

I could just as easily have been manequinhandtrapdoorireminder@hotmail.com

No drug references. Sorry to disappoint.

Meeting places to choose from:

In Kings Cross Station we have The Shires Bar and Coopers. Both likely to be fucking rammo at that time on a friday.

Then just outside we have The Dun A Ri Bar and The Flying Scotsman round the corner which are handy because they're on the same road as Babushka

Times:

I finish work at 4:30 and as Vic said, we'll probably meet up around Waterloo. If anyone else is coming into Waterloo we could meet you there. (I will provide a phone number to call this time)

So what time is everyone else thinking about getting to a meeting point.
Posted by cal, 09:44, 28th October 2003:

i'll meet you guys about 6ish?
Posted by Sul, 10:03, 28th October 2003:

Posted by eatmypiano, 10:28, 28th October 2003:

Once you've all decided, let me know and I'll be there. I only live about 3 miles away so I can meet you anywhere.

Well, anywhere local. Not Aberdeen for example.
Posted by Grim..., 08:56, 29th October 2003:

Cal - I have mailed you (to your office) a cheque for £20 so you can buy everyone a drink.

Posted by Sul, 08:33, 31st October 2003:

This is the second time I'm writing this ffs. Bloody interweb.

Here is what I propose:
Vic and I will be in the Duke of Wellington from around 4:35. I guess we'll be the first one's there. We hang around for people who want to meet here 'til about 6:30 where we head to Kings Cross and stay in The Shires Bar and wait for anyone not planning to meet at Waterloo. When all are there we have a chat and then head over to the do.

My phone number is 07763551132. If you get lost give me a buzz and I'll either direct you or come find you.

Anyone have any objections to this?
Posted by Rosie, 08:53, 31st October 2003:

I might be a bit late. I'll ring you Sul when I get to Kings Cross so that you can look out for me.

:)
Posted by cal, 08:57, 31st October 2003:

i shall join you in the shires bar at 6:30
Posted by Sul, 08:58, 31st October 2003:

Wouldnt be the first time I've hung around Kings Cross eyeing up women. Only this time I wont be thinking "I wonder if she does reacharounds for a fiver?". Honest. I wont.

;)

So what time are you looking at Rosie-dear?
Posted by Rosie, 09:01, 31st October 2003:

Yes indeed people, we have reached the famous Fourth stage of Iamcal meets. the stages are as follows:

Stage 1: Someone suggests a meeting.
Stage 2: Everyone voices approval and declares their interest.
Stage 3: People begin to Hedge bets, I'm probably going, I should be able to go, etc.
Stage 4: Not going.
Stage 5: Same old faces.

Reddy, Miki, Gobbo and Chandler met up in Holland.

I mean its not exactly easy for me and Reddy to get down to london from all the way up here.

If we were really near then we would come along :)

Events from last night (might not be in order):

Vic and I meet a man in a skeleton suit on the tube. We ask him if it was dress down friday and didnt he beat up the karate kid?
Vic plays musical ashtrays with the barstaff at the shires bar as he trys to hide the fact that he's smoking two inches within the stupidly sectioned non-smoking area.
Cal turns up about 45 minutes late tut tut.
Vic and I help contribute to the b3ta party by helping to write the raffle tickets as, curiously, no shop in the area had any.
We wait but no sign of EMP :( RUSS is going to turn up later.
We head to Babushka.
We meet the lovely Pep/Denise.
RUSS turns up at The Shires Bar. Whoops we'd already left..sorry :/
RUSS turns up at Babushka. Despite having gone to the shires and then have to find his way to babushka he doesnt shout once all night. NOT ONCE!
Cal goes off selling raffle tickets. He does this for most of the evening, poor lad.
We meet the lovely Banana, I'm not sure if we caught her real name. After a while she nearly pushes me off the balcony.
Hopefully not on purpose.
We claim the magic-man from another group of people and proceed to try to fuck up every one of his tricks.
Vic manages it in a stylish and slightly ironic way by disappearing mid-trick. Cue the taunts of "You made him disappear?!??! YOU ROCK!!!" and "That was much better than I was expecting!" etc.
Cal draws the raffle. We win nothing. Cal keeps all the sweets for himself but gives us a pack of penguins. I try to use these for chatting up the ladies and jumping the bog queue... with no luck either way.
Vic and I steal a 30lb bomb/christmas decoration (it's lucky they never had anything stronger than carling on tap or it would have for certain been dropped off the balcony).
errrm
Vic, RUSS and I shoot the breeze over glasses of champagne... for some reason.
Its a bit blury now.
RUSS leaves
We all pose for a few photos. Talk to a few b3tans.
Its very blury now
No Rosie or sister :(
Vic and I leave. Big fuck off ball in tow.
Nearly get into a fight in KFC.
Vic and I promise a cabby we wouldnt eat in his car.
We eat in his car.
RUSS wakes up a long way from home on the train and hs to go to work a few hours later.

Did I miss anything?

Oh we got badges too :)
Posted by Victor Menendez, 20:14, 1st November 2003:

We also smoked in his cab. other than that i think thats an accurate account of the night.

Sounds like fun.

I watched Dog Soldiers and drank beer. That was pretty good too. Dog Soldiers was quality stuff. Couple of gaping plot holes but it's about werewolves so I think we can let that go :D

Went to see Alien: Directors Cut last night and it's one of the most perfect cinema experiences ever. An utter joy from start to finish. Looks stunning and is as tense as hell. 10/10.
Posted by Grim..., 10:16, 3rd November 2003:

Holes in Dog Soldiers? What are they?
Posted by beargod, 10:33, 3rd November 2003:

there can't be any plot in dog soldiers, i mean holes, really :)
Posted by ilovebeerme, 10:37, 3rd November 2003:

Ok, not really gaping I suppose but;

***SPOILERS FOLKS****

Why did she stay in human form so long? They weren't going anywhere anyway.

That house filled up with gas VERY quickly. And gas always sinks to the lowest level so he would have been toast. God this ones petty.

They should have hacked off the special forces guys head before he changed.

***End****

Didn't make me enjoy it any less. It was very very good indeed. Very very tense and the werewolves were excellent. They got ballet dancers to play them in order to get the floaty, elegant animal type movement.

There is no spoon. :D
