Was it the "Hi I Am Chelleshark2002" thread which finally triggered your desire to post?
Posted by bain, 19:14, 12th November 2003:

no

i downloaded all the iamcal cd mp3s, and i might want to post guesses at the songs no-one has got yet (should i ever figure out wtf they are)

Silly question, but what are we getting "approved" of?
Posted by bain, 22:34, 12th November 2003:

thanks cal :D

we had a big problem with Michael Jackson fans and spammers and general twattyness. Cal is just trying to filter out the plebs.
Posted by WarHead, 22:39, 12th November 2003:

And I wonder how many have been filtered out.

about 1 in 10 people who sign up get approved. it stops drive-by-posting in our discussion threads. when you get approved, by default you don't see the "intro" threads any more.

drive-by-posting

NICE!
