Does anyone know if you can find out who owns a car from its registration plate? I thought I’d ask here because everyone seems so worldly wise!
Sitting on a junction waiting for the lights to go green, and some moron in a white van reversed out of the pub car park that was just behind and crunched into the back of the car! He winds his window down and says "I’ll just pull up over there" gets out and him and his mate legged it!
*sigh* what can you do.... :)

Call me 'crazy' if you will, but the signs are its not their van.

Call the fuzz and get them to find out. But as Vic said, probably not their van; they were probably having it away on their toes wiv it.

How does insurance work in this case?

*curious*

The van owners insurance company will cover it - if he has any.
As for calling the police - well, you should have done that straight away, you have to report an accident before driving away, that's the law.
Call them up (the local ones, don't phone 999 or anything) and apologise a bit, then tell them the Reg. plate and explain the situation.

rang the police when we got home, i hate mobiles so i don't have one although it might have been useful here.

yeah anyway the police sent a car round about 2 hours afterwards and called us up and said that the van is legit! and they called the owner (i didn't know they could find your phone number from your registration plate - but i suspect big brother knows all) and the woman who answered said that he wasn't home yet, i can't guess why that might be!

and I wonder why I drive a 109 Rand Lover

(most Southern African accents sound the letter R and L very similar or mix up even)

I do like Rands though.....

Friday, you drive a Land Rover because there are no roads where you live =]

Grim! There are roads! (My other car is a sports car) :-)

A sports car?
Does it have HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOGE turbochargers?

=]

is having a "hooooooge turbocharger" over compensating for something else that might lack in size? A bit like Lord Forquaads palace in Shrek? :D

does that mean buying a small car will impress the girls?!

only if having a big cock does

A guy with an audi tt would impress me, mainly because I'd steal it off him and race around it. I suppose I'll have to make do with my boyfriends FTO, even though he claims it's too powerful for girls. pfft
