You know people generally fall from great heights in their dreams and wake before or when they hit the ground? Well last night I dreamt that I was helping Harold Bishop accomplish a world record attempt at being skimmed across a 7 mile lake. For some reason we had to start this on a glider high up in the sky. My glider had a double blowup mattress attached for no reason. As we got up miles in the sky I lost Harold's glider as he got into a bit of trouble. While looking for him some help came along in the form of 2 members of the air patrol (????). Well good use they were. They just told me to prepare for my death as they managed to make all three of us plummet to the ground. When I finally hit the floor I suddenly shot back up like I was flying. The sky was perfect and all around me were loads of white figures flying just like me. I can only describe them as looking like the human form of Alex Kidd's angel when he dies.
Fucking brilliant it was. I then thought "This must be a dream" and woke up but I still felt really awe inspired. Of course I'm back to my bitter old self now but at the time it was really spiritual moment.
Anyway, a little bit different from my normal posts. A little bit soppy perhaps. Just thought I'd share.

I also heard that falling down in a dream is meant to mean that you will die, but as Chay said, how would anyone know? I had one of those when I was little and I remember waking up on hitting the ground and being really scared

I think Ive mentioned it before but I was sure that I died in a nuclear blast in a dream I had ages ago. It all just went black afterwards.

well - ive got a real true life story to tell you...
when my granny was ill and in a home my mum, sisters and me went to visit her. She couldn't really talk about much as she just lay there coz she was well ill. After about 20 mins of us sitting there looking at her and mumbling things to her she said "they have come to get me. Can you see them at the window?" She kept going on about these people coming to get her but she wasn't scared or frightened - infact she seemed happy.
Anyway she died the next day. My ma says that she was talking about the family she had up in heaven coming to get her and take her back.
Its a nice way to think about it i suppose. Anythough she could have been talking rubbish as she had lost her marbles....

Yeah. You gotta make sure you dont get dehydrated when you hit Zidanes floor.
Just to annoy everyone by bringing the matrix up, it could be a similar thing, you are so certain that a dream is real when you are dreaming (well for me anyway) that if you die in a dream your brain thinks you are dead.
Posted by
arsepuppy, 16:36, 26th November 2003:
My mate (who was really into the Matrix) told me that the third one was so awful that it ruined his appreciation of the original. He said it was unintenionally funny. Being a Matrix hater, this was music to my ears.

In my 4 years as a university student I can say that I've only been to the library 4 times spending an accumulated total of 20 minutes there. Never signed up to borrow books either.
What's it like in there?? Are the computers still wank?? (Flipping Novell network thingy)

They have WiFi now? Seems odd for them to spend money on something useful....
Case in point, replacing the perfectly OK old union with the "airport terminal".
Posted by
tommorris, 19:17, 26th November 2003:
Yeah - they have it in various places (...click click...Google search...) including Kimberlin Library Group Study area (2nd floor), Law school (0.36, 1.24, 1.27, 1.30, 1.31, 1.34), Clephlan (00.01, 1.32), Bosworth House, Bede Island.

tommorris, 19:20, 26th November 2003:
Ah yes, the 'campus centre'. I do like the connotation that the "centre" (read: most important, significant part) is a fish and chip shop, coffee shop and letting agents. One would presume that it's the lecture theatres, classrooms and working areas. Not in New Labour's version of Higher Education™.

They have Wifi in the town/village where I live in Wales. Silly buggers put the antenna thing in a weird place so at the moment only half the town has access. They were due to fix this though by Xmas. Probably happened by now.
Posted by
arsepuppy, 19:24, 26th November 2003:
...and the fact that the food court takes up
one third of the building, with only 1/6th being the actual Union now.... Such a badly designed place. But the air conditioning mishap was funny though...
Posted by
tommorris, 19:24, 26th November 2003:
I'm hoping to persuade the silly sods in the village I live in when I'm not in Sunny Old Leicester that it might be a neat idea that would bring them in to the 20th Century. No doubt they'll get confused and smeg it up as happens with nearly everything in Britain.

What happened with the air conditioning?
Posted by
arsepuppy, 19:26, 26th November 2003:
...and there's also the fact that rather than the independent caffs of before we have a series of franchises only normally found in railway stations (Upper Crust, Harry Ramsden's, Whistlestop, etc)...

On the first night of opening, they had a 'Big Cheese'-lite (it was a Thursday). Since it was the first day, I thought I'd go out of curiousity. It was painfully hot in there, which is obviously quite dangerous for a club-type atmosphere. The reason was that apparently (so I was told) they
couldn't find the button to turn the air conditioning on. It was lost due to the hastiness in building the place. Maybe behind a Gyproc panel.
I also found it odd that the toilets are *outside* of the union part of the building, which means you have to finish your drink, or put it aside to use the loos. Is this not asking for Rohypnol-related issues?
Posted by
tommorris, 19:32, 26th November 2003:
Just drink more shots and having to finish the drink is hardly a problem. I went to the new Rock Night the other week and it was shit.
Posted by
arsepuppy, 19:37, 26th November 2003:
I never go to the union (and rarely did before) due to it's shitness.
In fact, since all of my friends have graduated, I don't go out much, except for places like Fan Club, Moshi Moshi Sushi, Brighton Beach, Tube Bar etc.

Soar Point is okay, if a little gimmicky (really cheap though). At the moment, I'm being really cheap and just buying from off-licences, but I'll have a proper chance to explore Leicester's pubs once my bank balance is in a slightly better state.
Posted by
arsepuppy, 19:51, 26th November 2003:
Yeah, I think I should explore some spar-bought Stella in a bit.
I take it you're at Bede Hall or New Wharf then?
Posted by
arsepuppy, 19:52, 26th November 2003:
At Soar Point, is that girl that looks like Julian Casablancas still working behind the bar? That always used to entertain me. I like the burgers there too.
Posted by
tommorris, 19:58, 26th November 2003:
New Wharf. And I don't know if said girl works there. Mostly it's guys working behind the bar, and girls going round serving food and picking up glasses etc.
