Right. Major nashing of teeth. I have set my 'home' address on my browser up as many different things more than 8 times now in the last week, and some tosspot bloody electronic thing (virus?) keeps re-setting my home address to this...

t.rack.cc/hp.php

You may have established from this that I am at the hazier end of my technological knowledge, hence the plea to more tech-minded people.

This site is some bullshit, dog-toffee search thing that I have never visited before in my long and tedious life. It's driving me mental!!! There is not even any sort of contact or hint how I might drop in and staple their foreskins to the back of the nearest bus for invading my humble PC without my permission...

Angry, angry, angry. Grr.

Suggestions?

Sounds like a nasty bit of adware/spyware if you ask me, Brock (or, more precisely, a browser hijack of some sort). I highly recommend scanning your machine with Ad-Aware ( lavasoft.element5.com/software/adaware/ ). The standard version is free to use. Good luck! :D

Good call. It found lots of incomprehensible shite that seemed (to the stupid, ie me) to be bad things to have. So I blitzed them. And, I have to confess, I did cackle and stroke an imaginary cat (complete with imaginary diamond collar) as I destroyed their intentions to take over the world of the PC-incompetent person via my machine, in an evil dictator stylee.

I feel cleansed.

Mind you, if it doesn't fix it, I reserve the right to spit feathers and generally throw expensive items at hard surfaces, as is the normal way I tend to cope with insurmountable problems.

The bastards.

Here is a adware removing program that I have been using for a few months.

Looking good so far. No stupid attempts to make me use a crap search engine reported.

Many thanks, more knowledgeable person, you.

Now. Can you fix the "afternoon 5 pints, no lunch, too pissed to cook, and can't be arsed, quandary?"
What does a person do in these circumstances? Drink more? Or veg in front of the tv until better and eat later?

Tricky, this life thing, isn't it?

and go to the offy while you're waiting

Further update - have crammed my neck with spaghetti bolognese and garlic bread that I had in the fridge and feel rather fat and relaxed. Bloody Marvellous. Found it in the fridge, and it spurred me on to apply heat in a minimal effort, maximum reward kind of way. No need for the offy, probably have more stock here than they do...

however, got to computer and the bastard-site-from-hell had reappeared! Ran the ad-aware thing 3 times before it stopped picking things up, and am downloading the spybot as we speak. Starting to feel like the bloke threatening Anthrax on the spammers...
