Title: His Dark Materials
Author: Philip Pullman
Rating: 5/5

Just finished this trilogy and WOW!!! It was fantastic.

Supposed to be kids books and the story is geared that way but the writing is also better than the majority of adult books I've read. It is about growing and I wish I could have read it when I was a bit younger.

The story centres around Lyra and her daemon Pan who come from a world very similar to our own. Strange things are happening in her world and from page one she is swept along on a fantastic adventure that takes in the Kingdom of the Bears, our world, Cittagazze, the realm of the dead and heaven.

The book is warm, cruel, beautiful and heart wrenching in equal measure. Touches of the writing are everything that makes sci-fi good and some is the best fantasy I've ever read.

10/10
