Saddam Hussein has been captured alive in a cellar near his hometown of Tikrit and is in U.S. custody. “Ladies and gentlemen, we got him,” U.S. administrator L. Paul Bremer announced.

Id sell him on eBay.

"One former dictator, change of regime forces sale, one careful country dictated..."

His beard was so cool when they found him. Me and Vic know a tramp with a similar look. Just as mental it turned out after a brief chat.

It appears he was caught before he completed his disguise and played uncle Albert in the no doubt forthcoming Fools and Horses christmas travesty.

"We got him"

This probably took writers a good few hours to come up with... IT'S SHIT!

They shouldve done at least one Brian Blessed joke.
Posted by Sul, 19:50, 14th December 2003:

Actually they shouldve opened with one.

Why didn't they shoot the bastard when they found him and then say they found him dead?
Posted by Rosie, 10:59, 15th December 2003:

BTW - Morning Everyone!!

:)

re: shooting him.

I reckon that wouldn't have been humiliating enough. He always said he would shoot himself rather than fall into Yank hands...

UNLUCKY!!!!

Anyway, whats the point of stringing him up by his nuts if he's already dead?
Posted by Victor Menendez, 11:37, 15th December 2003:

I agree with Rosie, a quick 5.56mm solution and there's no chance of him sitting in the Hague for the next twenty years telling stories of how the west tooled him up to fight Iran.

And morning my cherub ;)

Ah, you guys are so sweet!

Hello!

Hiya friday!

Hows it hanging?

Good job all round on catching the evil little shitbag.

Do you think he will be tried in the Hauge? Surely it will be an Iraqi trial. They have suspended the death sentence in Iraq at the moment so they might delay the trial.

Pity the attacks haven't stopped.

Perhaps we should all club together with a Paypal account and raise enough money to pay for his bail, then we could all interview him and ask him his view on "sprem in your anas".

"stories of how the west tooled him up to fight Iran."

Genuinely not trying to start a 'debate' here Vic but do you not believe we sold him weapons? Or do you just not care that we did?
Posted by Brock, 12:24, 15th December 2003:

Bit late for all that caring.
I'm sure it was all about the greater perceived danger at the time.

Anyway, politicians are muppets anyway, they are bound to make the occasional(kind of) mistake.

Lets shoot them all as well!!! Live like hippies!
Posted by Victor Menendez, 12:28, 15th December 2003:

I know we sold him weapons, not all of your facts are erroneous.
Posted by ilovebeerme, 12:29, 15th December 2003:

I think you're right, no doubt it was about the greater perceived danger.

Bit worried by all the people on the radio wanting to actually see him executed! Bit sick.
Posted by ilovebeerme, 12:29, 15th December 2003:

I believe the term is *thud* ;)
Posted by Rosie, 12:45, 15th December 2003:

I dont wanna see the twat-bag being shot - i just think that if they put a bullet in his head when they first clapped eyes on him, it would save all the fuss and it would be over.
Posted by tommorris, 12:46, 15th December 2003:

But if you keep him alive, he might be able to make a stage debut in Broadway.

"I dont wanna see the twat-bag being shot - i just think that if they put a bullet in his head when they first clapped eyes on him, it would save all the fuss and it would be over."

I think you are probably right. I actually quite surprised that he wasn't shot. I guess even if they don't execute him they should maybe say they have to avoid him becoming a reason for terrorists.
Posted by Rosie, 12:57, 15th December 2003:

I bet hes getting a right good hiding!

What goes around, comes around - and its got him right up the arsehole!!
Posted by ilovebeerme, 13:02, 15th December 2003:

I doubt they will lay a finger on him. Nor should they.
Posted by Rosie, 13:04, 15th December 2003:

I know that they shouldn't but it must be very hard if you are near him not to give him a crafty kick in the shin!
Posted by ilovebeerme, 13:09, 15th December 2003:

Heh heh. Slip when shaving him or something.
Posted by cal, 13:18, 15th December 2003:

i think it will be interesting to see where he stands trial. the hauge with an iraqie (sp?) judge is an obvious option. killed live on us tv by a mob of housewives is unfortunately far more likely.

also interesting to note that no papers so far have pointed out how much he looks like father christmas with that beard.
Posted by ilovebeerme, 13:31, 15th December 2003:

Or Walter Mattheau
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 13:45, 15th December 2003:

Eventually, Saddam could be tried for war crimes by a new Iraqi tribunal.
Posted by tommorris, 13:45, 15th December 2003:

So, what does everyone say to my suggestion. We ought to try and get an interview with him and ask him about what he thinks of MJ's music.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 13:46, 15th December 2003:

In other words..they will kill him.
Posted by friday, 13:50, 15th December 2003:

about the beard - how long ago was it that he was seen with just a mostache and how fast do they grow??

I say this because we all know he has several doubles.......

and I wonder if he was hit with shoes when he was found.....
Posted by Victor Menendez, 15:06, 15th December 2003:

According to my BBC ticker, 'US Interrogators Grill Saddam'

Harsh but fair.

What about Uday and Qusay? Has everyone forgotten Uday and Qusay?
Posted by Victor Menendez, 12:38, 16th December 2003:

They died about two months ago.

so yes.
Posted by jeffld, 17:02, 16th December 2003:

This morning I heard that Joan Rivers said if they really wanted to make Saddam's life miserable that she would marry him. I heard her say that on the View television show.
Posted by Brock, 17:06, 16th December 2003:

A bloke on Radio 1 (iraqui guy) said that Saddam should be locked in a cage, and a different one of the mothers of his victims should visit him every day.
They could probably do a different one each hour for the rest of his life. I think that would be fantastic!
Posted by Grim..., 17:25, 16th December 2003:

Yeah - they could do that with Bush, too.

from glass boxes above the Thames?

Is this the inspiration that David Blaine was trying to show the world?

;-)
Posted by Brock, 10:17, 17th December 2003:

Heaven forbid that Blaine were to give us anything useful...

that would destroy my image of him as a pointless fruit-loop.
